Flora never disappoints in her books! This book was chalk full of suspense, angst, twists, romance, passion and family. It totally had it all, including amazing characters. Wes and Zooey were great together. Quiet confidence, determination, dedication, perseverance, and a solid history that helped you understand their actions/behaviors.
Wes was Lawrence’s business partner, and he fell instantly for Zooey (who happened to be Lawrence’s daughter). Great, the only woman he wants is the one he can’t have.
Zooey, too, is drawn to Wes. She has been estranged from her father, but trying to fix the rift he caused by ignoring her from birth. She agreed to come to his party begrudgingly, but meeting Wes made it worth it.
They both knew their age difference would be an issue, and so would her father. That did not stop them from exploring their cjemistry. But suddenly Zooey ghosted him. He had to make sure she was okay.
There are lots of twists and angst to be had in this short book, and so much heartache. Would they ever get to be alone again? Would it cost them everything if they did? How would Lawrence react? Be prepaired for a great book. Though a bit slow initially, it quickly picks up speed, and never slows down!
