Hell comes to Hallelujah, a sleepy little mining town high in the Colorado Rockies.Flint Harrington was Hallelujah’s marshal until Mayor Joe laid him off. Five months later, the mayor is dead, found collapsed in his mine. His widow asks Flint to investigate. He agrees and expects to find that Joe died of natural causes. To his horror, though, Flint discovers that Joe had been hiding a terrible … hiding a terrible secret from his wife and everyone else in town. The mayor’s murder, and murder it was, pulls back a curtain to expose a twisted criminal enterprise thriving in Hallelujah’s dark and remote mines.
Human monsters continue to roam those hidden corridors. When more murders follow, the town turns to the marshal they’d once cast aside, praying that he can save them all.

I thoroughly enjoyed Hallelujah is dying. Flint and Apollo are a great team and I love the human and dog interaction of the story.
Can’t wait to see what happens next!
A small town who-done-it that is a great read. Lets you get to know the characters, with twists and turns to keep you guessing till the end. Lots of interesting bits & pieces on mining in the mix.
B loved it so much I bought the others in the series
Very entertaining and never boring. I want to read the others in this series!
Modern times Colorado west….look forward to reading others nby author..
Didn’t know what to expect but fell right in with the characters. Was hoping something would happen to the lieutenant but you’ll see what she gets later.
Not bad, slow in some places, but great ending
Was able to read it to the end, very enjoyable
Great store well done “who done it”. I’ll read more of Andrew Arches books
A great read of mining events almost forgotten in this day.
Can’t put it down kind of book. Good characters who aren’t the “larger than life” kind that make a book difficult to get into.
Great read. Once started I couldn’t put it down. Had to purchase the next book in the series.
Very good read
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was realistic to me and kept me in suspense as to who done it. Great read
An excellent murder mystery with a good set up of locale and characters for an on-going series. The characters were all quite believable, the mystery and solution well done, the action well-paced, and the ending satisfying. This is not a cozy mystery, not a romance, not a thriller, not a fantasy, not dark and gritty. This is for fans of the classic murder mystery.
Great reading
love this author another great read
I enjoyed this
So often, I find thrillers a little thread-bare. I like to learn as I’m entertained and the more unusual the topic the more fun. In “Hallelujah is Dying” the theme is gold mining, specifically the last productive mine in the town of Hallelujah, Colorado. It’s interesting stuff, as are the town itself and the unusual folks who people it. Just the variety of names that crop up tells you a lot about how the melting pot manifested itself in the distant Colorado mountains. It’s all told in an easy-going style that suits the world Michael Arches has created and serves as a counter-point to the deadly business afoot. Good surprise ending, too.
This is a pleasant mystery. Light reading with some interesting information about mining. The plot put me in mind of a “Longmire” mystery – on hind sight very plain to see but sufficiently jumbled in the midst of the book to keep your interest.
