A Paranormal Women’s Fiction novel for anyone who thought adventure and magic stopped at forty. Guess again, it’s just the beginning. I never expected I’d be one of those people who had a midlife crisis. Sure, I’m over forty, and married, but my kids are grown and moved out. Life is steady, if predictably boring. That all changes when my husband asks for a divorce and my whole world crashes. … my whole world crashes. Everything I thought I knew, everything I am, gone in an instant.
But I am not about to give up. After all, at my age, technically, I’m only halfway there.
I am ready to tackle my do-over; my chance to become the me I’ve always dreamed of. Starting with moving into my late grandma’s cottage and adopting a new kitten.
However, my new life is a little odder than expected. Old books suddenly appearing in my house. Neighbors going missing. A supposed lake monster, and a strange man who likes to skulk around with an axe.
I’m going to need to lean on my friends, new and old, to help me navigate my midlife crisis. Together maybe we will find a way to beat the family curse ruining my second chance at life.

Midlife Mulligan!!! How perfect is this series name? Once I started Halfway There, I did not want to stop. I had to force myself so I could get some sleep because I’m getting over a cold. Naomi is such a compelling heroine and I loved joining her on her journey. Langlais’s writing is absolute magic.
Kittens and Lake Monsters! Eve Langlais brings magic to midlife.
Reading Eve Langlais is always a treat. Halfway There is no exception. It has all the laughs and all the sighs.
Naomi was put through a nasty divorce, her not so devoted husband of over 20 years traded her in for a much younger model.
She has a string of really bad luck and ends up having to move away. From Vermont to Canada to a home her Grandmother left to her. Walking into her new home after 40 years was like going back in time, a happier time for her. Nothing changed, still felt like home. Home with a hot new neighbor named Jace who always seems to be holding an axe. She also reunites with her old friend Tricia. The town is acts a bit strange to her though, with her friends, new and old she embarks on a new life. Things get much more strange, like Twilight Zone strange.
This story was not like most of the Author’s books BUT it was a great read. It is nice to read about older women who can handle themselves just as much or more than the younger generations. Us old ladies need love and romance too!
I have already pre ordered the next book in this series, can’t wait to find out what happens next!
This book is a new series and part of Paranormal Women’s Fiction #PWF…13 wonderful female authors have gotten together to create paranormal fiction for the 40 plus generation and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Having your husband drop a bomb about wanting a divorce…oh man this would distress anyone! Being over 40, waiting for the divorce, while having all kinds of bad luck happen would shake anyone’s confidence but Naomi puts her big girl panties on and rides them out. With the encouragement from her daughter, Naomi decides to head back up to Canada and live in her grandmother’s cottage. Once there she hooks up with an old friend and makes a new one. Unable to get a job, dealing with the bizarre attitude of the town citizens and it seems that the bad luck keeps following her.
I love Eve Langlais books, her quirky characters and “Halfway There” does not disappoint. I groaned, laughed and wanted to give Naomi’s husband a love tap more than once…lol If you love Eve Langlais books you will love this one…yes Naomi starts out as a doormat but by the end of this book she has definitely developed a backbone and I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next!
I was so excited to hear that this fabulous group of authors are writing paranormal fiction about women over 40. This is the first book I’ve read by Eve Langlais, and I’m here to tell you that it won’t be my last!
I want to read more of Naomi’s story and watch her navigate her new life full of unexpected people, a couple of hotties, old and new friends, and most of all I want to see her figure herself out.
I have four words for you: new kitten and lake monster. What else do you need to know? Start reading now!! You won’t regret it!
This was a fun book. The MC’s husband tells her, after breakfast one morning, that he wants a divorce. He’s a pretentious jerk and is doing her a favor, although at the time she doesn’t realize this. She’s a 40 something chubby, unemployed, no self esteem, totally friendless hot mess, but not stupid! She grabs herself a man eater for a lawyer and things look up til her house burns to the ground! And, this just the beginning, the best part is still to come! The cottage that her grandmother left her in her will is where she finds herself moving to and it is in an interesting little town full of interesting people. My favorite character in the whole book was the cottage and it was quite a character. Enjoy!
Relatable Easy to read Keeps your interest to the very end
good start to a series
Fantastic wonderful book and characters also. . .
Imagine being in your forties married with grown kids and suddenly your husband tells you he wants a divorce that he has a new woman and no longer wants you. You the person who gave up your life to stay home and take care of him and the children for years, you the person who he has allowed to only work a part time job after the kids were grown because if you had a full time job it would make him look bad.
That is exactly what happens to Naomi. She is a doormat or she was. No she is fighting mad and refuses to let Martin have everything his way. Well she suddenly finds herself homeless when her house burns , the house that the judge ordered Martin out of, the house she was allowed to stay in until they could sell it. Martin was spitting mad. But was he mad enough to burn the house down with her inside?
Naomi remembers that her grandmother left her a cabin in the woods up in Canada and since she no longer has anything left to keep her where she is she decides to pack up and head back to Canada and the cabin that she loved when she was a child.
Things are a little crazy up at the cabin by the lake that is supposed to be home to a monster. She has a weird neighbor, her best friend from her childhood believes in fairies, Orcs and the lake monster. The people in the local town seem to be afraid of her and her neighbor claims she is a witch.
Is she going crazy or are other things at work here?
If you love and good paranormal with a lot of twists and a great story line then this book is for you.
New series about women in their 40’s or older and the changes they go through. Naomi was hit with an unexpected divorce and had to start her life again. Her ex-husband was a piece of crap and tried to destroy her but with the help of old and new friends, she was starting her new life on a positive note and was reconnecting with her adult daughter. I can’t wait for the next book!
Halfway There was a great story to read! Real struggles that Naomi faces or even let’s say her life suddenly turned upside down literally. You should be really strong to start over again from the scratch. Who could do this? Low self esteem because you’ve been always told that you’re worthless, useless. It’s not an easy task to get self confident and start accept yourself and loving it. So I believe that Naomi’s character is more real than you could expect it. Add magical stuff, curse, prophecy, family story and you don’t know what’s real or not. Her friends Tricia and Jojo and her wonderful daughter Wendi are bonded to help Naomi. I hoped that she will accept paranormal part of her as real at the end but that’s to be done yet in the next book which I can’t wait because there’s more danger coming after her.
Really enjoyed reading this… looking forward to next book!
What do you do when your husband asks for a divorce & your world crashes . . . You have an unexpected midlife crisis, of course. But Naomi Rousseaux is ready to tackle her do-over… I found myself relating to Naomi in so many aspects, her fears, thoughts what she has to overcome, to pick herself up… her Internal monologues, are the pep talks most of us have, even if you’re not 40 & divorced. Those that are will swear she wrote their story, for the most part. While it was not laugh out loud funny, I didn’t find myself missing that slapstick mishap around every corner, this story saved them for every every corner. I liked that the story had me laughing & thinking… I had purchased this, loving this new genre of PWF: Paranormal Women’s Fiction, heroines who were 40+, dealing with all getting older entails, add in a little magic & I was sold. Having never read this author before, I wasn’t sure what to expect… what I was Not expecting was to fall in love with her writing, her characters, this story…. This book did Not disappoint! I will definitely by getting the next book & diving into her other series, while I wait.
This is such an awesome book and I loved this story! It’s the first in a new series and it began with 13 fabulous authors decided that women over 40 needed to be the stars for their next books! So we get relatable, average women with a story to tell. I can’t wait for the next one
This story had a lot of topics to cover.Poor Naomi stays depressed through most of the story. It was kind of a pity party at some points. Although the story was written well, it Was lacking to me in some areas. I felt that we didn’t get clear answers to what was going on except for her ex husband being a butt.I felt that Naomi was suicidal and she Needed a therapist. She Was very depressing at times and I felt sorry for her more then anything. I didn’t see very much growth in her. I really wish that the story would have evolved differently.I ended up feeling sad the whole time reading this book. At some points I questioned myself. If you are suicidal or depressed stay away from this book. Other works by this author seems to be better. I am not sure what happened here.
Can’t wait for the next book!
A funny, sad and slightly crazy story of a woman who has her life turned upside down when her husband says he’s leaving her. Over weight, alone and adrift in a life she does not recognise she struggles to find meaning. Having spent the last 20 years with an angry, controlling husband even her kids have left. What she does have, that’s hers alone is her grandmothers cottage back home in Canada. Things however are far from what they seem in this strange place she can t seem it remember, and the people are full of crazy ideas of curses, witches and missing people. Interesting story with some elements of the paranormal and what seems to be a promising series.
Talk about a roll with the punches kinda book wow Naomi is all kinds of awesome and her ex-husband is a total idiot and that is being polite…
I love the magical side of this story it’s kinda hidden but not really by the end Naomi kinda believes but she’s not full immersed yet…
I love Wendy she is just as awesome as her Mom and Jojo and Teresa are also wonderful characters this story was really about finding yourself and girl power and knowing no matter what age you can remake yourself whenever you want so just do it.
