Hailey Roberts has never had it easy. Despite the scars of a tragic childhood, she’s made a life for herself. As a part-time student and loving nanny, she yearns for a family of her own and reluctant Austin Casey, Ethan Cooke Security’s best close protection agent.
Hailey’s past comes back to haunt her when her long lost brother tracks her down, bringing his dangerous secrets with him. At an … him. At an emotional crossroads, Hailey accepts a humanitarian opportunity that throws her together with Austin, taking her hundreds of miles from her troubles, or so she thinks.
What starts out as a dream come true quickly becomes a nightmare as violence erupts on the island of Cozumel. Young women are disappearing, community members are dying—and the carnage links back to her brother.
As Austin struggles to keep Hailey’s past from destroying her future, he’s forced to make a decision that could turn her against him, or worse cost them both their lives.

I’m a complete mess! I just finished this book and ugly cried more than once. This is a highly emotional one! Hailey and Austin have been “friends” for years as they both worked for the Cooke’s. She is the nanny and college student and he is a bodyguard at Ethan’s company. They both have crushes on each other but things change when they each vacation in Cozumel before a three month university program in the same country. Austin will be there to provide security. Things are great until Hailey’s brought ends up at the same resort. Austin knows he’s bad news but Hailey can’t see it. She’s also impressed with his boss (who happens to be a dangerous mob leader). There is tons of action, suspense, deception, heartbreak and love.
I must say that this is my favourite installment of the series so far. Even though Hailey is quite naive and so blinded by her love for the Jeremy she knew when she was a little girl, I still really like her. She went through so much and yet she grew to be strong, kind, loyal and independent woman. She was trying so hard to help Jeremy out and all he did is taking advantage of her kindness. It seriously made me so mad. He was so selfish and he was knowingly putting her in danger.
I really like Austin as well. I love the way he is with Hailey, so passionate and protective and just so damn sweet. He is really patient with her and really tries to make her see what she refuses to acknowledge.
It is filled with suspense and intrigue and it keeps you on your toes. You know who the bad guy is, who is actually pretending to be a kind-hearted philanthropist and you just wait for the moment when it all goes awry.
I think the ending was a bit rushed, they broke up and didn’t speak for weeks, then they reconcile, Hailey moves in and Austin proposes. I think they should have taken things a bit slower, especially because of the way that they ended things.
I really love this series and I cannot wait to read Forever Alexa.
3.5, but I’ll bump it to 4 because I like the series. I just couldn’t connect to this one as much as I did the first two books in the series.
Hailey’s ability to completely and totally disregard what was right in front of her face became beyond annoying. She absolutely refused to see anything negative in her brother, Jeremy. She was ruled by guilt over something that happened, beyond her control, when she was fourteen years old. She was also way too impulsive at times which got her into trouble more often than not. Austin was a more realistic person with the patience of a saint when dealing with Hailey. He pretty much gave her a pass on everything.
The story was good and the action was sometimes intense. Much of the character development of Austin and Hailey was done in the previous two books. You don’t have to read them first, but I think you’d understand their relationship better and be able to pick up more of the intricacies of the story. It was a good read, just not quite as good as the first two.
