Vietnam vet and former pro football player Wyatt Storme is bow-hunting in Missouri when he stumbles upon a hidden field of marijuana…and is attacked by a vicious dog and shot at by a sniper. He reports violent incident confidentially to the local Sheriff…who is murdered the next day. Storme believes there’s a connection and starts asking questions, unraveling a deadly conspiracy of corruption, … drug-trafficking and organized crime… and making himself someone that just about everybody wants dead.
The first novel in W.L. Ripley’s acclaimed Wyatt Storme series.
“As much joyful bashing as it is ‘Red Harvest’ on uppers, though completely innocent of Hammett’s dark vision. Fighting the good fight has seldom been so much atavistic fun
Kirkus Reviews
“Storme is one of my all-time favorite series characters, up there with Spenser and Dave Robicheaux,” Ace Atkins, NY Times bestselling author of “Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland.”

An entertaining book if you like action stories. An easy read that will make you resist putting it down.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author! I loved it! It was nonstop active from the first page to the last! An ex Vietnam vet /ex football star is asked by a friend to bring back another vet back to Colorado from Kansas! While out hunting Wyatt Storme comes across a huge marijuana field and reports it to the chief of police! Then meets up with the vet he’s suppose to take home! By the next morning the sheriff is killed and Wyatt feels guilty. He decides to stick around until the case it solved. That when everything goes haywire and the nonstop action starts! I really enjoyed the characters, the action and how realistic the story was! For a small town there is a lot of crime going on! I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
I think I found my new favorite author! The plot alone will have you turning page after page; I read it in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down! The dialogue is better than Lethal Weapon; Storme and Chick are hysterical, non-stop and right on!
This was a very good book loved the main character and the story line -well written
Strong characters in this book who you can’t help but get involved with as you read. You just can’t help but fall into the desire for the truth as the main characters solve the who did what. This book is well written and seems to grasp unto you, making you a part of the mystery as to who did what and why. You won’t regret reading it.
This is a first in the Wyatt Storm series. Ripley hits it out of the park! Read this book on a whim and recommend it heartily.
Characters are developed, interesting and have some very snappy humor throughout.

Excellent detective story.
Waiting for the next one!
Great read – realistic. Should be made into a movie!
Entertaining read with great characters
Great characters and action.
Kept me reading all night until finished. So that tell’s it. Liked the realistic portrayal of the events. Don’t know if I liked Mac.. can’t disclose ..why..without giving spoilers. Will read on other books in series and decide. Do recommend.
I read this book so fast and then went on to order the three after. These characters are so good at kickin ass and taking names…if they survive. The dialogue is some of the best ever. I would read 10 more. Unfortunately I don’t think the author is writing anymore. I tried emailing and got no response and have not seen anything new.
Great book. Hard to put down. Exciting and lots of action. Can’t wait for the next book. Hopefully the 2 main characters will be in next book.
I enjoyed the characters.
Characters that are flawed, but likable and unrelenting. Engaging storyline that keeps you guessing until the end.
