I’m not all that special, really. Or uncommon. I’m sure there are a lot of girls with old gypsy blood who see the dead, have killer cults hunting their family, and turn into something that gets scary when they panic. Yep. Completely unoriginal, if I do say so myself.Move along. Nothing to see here. Nope. I’m just an ordinary girl.I wish people would believe that.I’ve been labeled as one thing or … labeled as one thing or another for most of my life:
Death Girl.
Crazy Gypsy Girl.
Gothic Chick.
Monster…
It took my mother’s death for me to finally start getting answers about what’s really been going on. Unfortunately, most of the answers come from men…who aren’t just men. Somehow, I’ve gone and landed myself in a world truly filled with monsters, and I’m starting to think this is where I should have been all along.
Only…I don’t understand what’s going on. I’m walking into the middle of a story that’s thousands of years old, and I’m the new girl on the block who doesn’t have a clue how this world even works. My only guides happen to be the most lethal of the bunch.
They decide who lives or dies. They decide who gets stabbed or tortured.
Yeah…
I’ve gone and drawn attention to myself, and the ones paying attention are the ones everyone else seems to fear.
How do these things always happen to me?

I don’t know what I can tell you about this series and this author. I hesitated, but I am thankful I am reading this series.
The first book is a little slow but it is worked building and setting everything up. Yes it leaves questions but that is being a good author.
This book sucked me in and swallowed me whole! Gypsy’s Blood is Book one in All The Pretty Monsters series and it is to Die For! Here’s what you need to know! When you download this book, be prepared for Nothing Else! Did you hear that?? NOTHING ELSE!!! It will consume you! You will need to devour books two and three as well! Gypsy’s Blood is a slow burn with excellent world-building that never leaves you bored! If you’re thinking this will be some quickly rushed paragraphs to get your rocks off, HAHA, you’re in for a surprise! Don’t be an easy date! sit back and enjoy the show, because this is phenomenal and Cunning is making us Beg for it! Violet is a breath of fresh air! She is so unique and quirky! I instantly loved her! You instantly know there is something special about her! She’s a secret keeping gypsy with a half-naked ghost as her best friend! let’s take a second for Anna. Anna is Laugh out Loud Funny! She has absolutely no sense of boundaries and is equipped with no filter! She’s also sexually frustrated, by several decades and 50% of what comes out of her mouth is a lie! I laughed so Hard I cried! I think the best part is the Alphas having to ignore her and act like she isn’t popping up and doing all the crazy sh*t she says and does! The Alphas, they are mysterious and intriguing! Three Monsters who have a lot of history with each other and one immediate thing in common. They’re all drawn to the new gypsy in town who says she’s not a gypsy! This is a Must ready book that will leave you with more questions than answers and consume your every thought! I read this book in one sitting! Qualification: I read all three available books in this series in a single day/night, so there might be a tad of bleed through in terms of my memory but, being the wise Book Nerd I am, I will have no spoilers.
After her mother’s death, Violet Carmine moves to the town where her mother died and the home and shop her mother left to her. Violet is a Prideful Gypsy with more than one secret of her own. And she discovers the town has even more than she!
Four sexy, handsome Alpha monsters are waiting for her. All four quickly become entranced by Violet even though they try to fight it. They are drawn to her in part due to a curse that no one will ever speak about. Nor will they help her understand who and what she is, much to her irritation. Even Arion, who drew her to him with a desperate and despicably dark and deceitful plan won’t explain what is happening around her
This was a fantastic intro to this world, where monsters exist and humans can be just as monstrous. The males were hot, even as damaged and as crazy as they were. Arion is the funniest and the most dangerous while giving off the vampire smexy vibe. He borders on complete psychosis and high score on the psychopathy test. Damian, forever doomed to be forgotten and to never reach the heights of ecstasy, is a romantic and draws power from sex. His bastard brother is Dorian Grey. Vance is a Van Helsing, cursed to never stop hunting. And the last, the Alpha Werewolf is a sexy, savage, sweetheart.
Darkly funny, juicy and smexy, a medium burn RH!
I loved how fleshed out the characters were, and how delightfully foreshadowing was etched in.
All in all, a delightful full course meal on its own and even better when you decide to binge on these bleeding cold days of winter.
5 out of 5 stars.

I really really enjoyed this book. The gypsy angle with the supernaturals and how they came to be, this story is a completely new concept for all of them. Fascinating characters and an engaging story line. I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait for more!
I love Violet – she is snarky, fun, and a little bit clueless. Anna, her ghost friend, is also great. I liked seeing the guys try to figure out Violet, and really enjoyed when she brought them gifts. I can’t wait to see how Arion’s plan impacts them all. The story does end a bit abruptly, but thankfully book 2 is out in just a couple weeks!
This was not a series that I saw coming. I love Kristy Cunning aka CM Owens but I didn’t even know this was one of her works till it popped up on my Amazon KU read lists. I was so excited! She did not disappoint! I always read her books in one day or in a day and a half. Sadly, never very productive when it comes to these books that I can’t put down. I should’ve waited for the whole series to be published since she loves cliffhangers! There is one here but it isn’t too bad. I can’t wait to read the next one.
Overall: 5/5
It wasn’t the title that pulled me in…
There seem to be two things that make me look twice at a book cover, a striking (not necessarily handsome) bloke and a beautiful cape. I’m not sure what it is about them, but I would LOVE to have a hooded cape of my own. Maybe it’s the historical romance reader in me because I’m still envious of the one Jane Bennet wore in Pride and Prejudice (BBC version). Now, the practicality of having a big sweeping hooded cape in Australia has held me back from ordering one. For starters, it would be too bloody hot. Secondly, where the heck am I going to wear it? So, I saw the cover of Gypsy’s Blood from a recommendation (thanks, Lily) on Goodreads and I was intrigued enough to look a bit closer.
So, I’m reading the blurb and nodding my head thinking *Yes, this works for me…*
THEN
REVERSE HAREM?!?!?!?!?!?!
Now, don’t mistake my explosive reaction as being fully in the negative. It just kind of shocked me for two seconds. It’s been a wee while since I’ve stumbled across any group “action” in my reads so I had to readjust my expectations. I’m feeling kind of risqué and up for taking a walk on the wild side…why the heck not???
Ummm…excuse me, I think someone left out the harem action.
Ok, what I was expecting and what I got was completely different, but, as you can see by the four stars, I still really enjoyed Gypsy Blood. In my dirty little mind, I was picturing Violet getting ravished by the monsters. What I got was a young woman moving to a town and finding out that all those scary stories she thought were unreal, were very, very real. Violet is surrounded by monsters and some of those monsters won’t leave her alone.
Side note – these are my kind of monsters, there are no 3 headed, green-skinned or ugly monsters in sight. These monsters are the bossy, growly, sexy and magical kind that I love.
At times while reading Gypsy Blood I was a little frustrated. Things seem to be moving along at a snail’s pace and I had so many questions that needed to be answered. And, of course, I was waiting the whole time for a little of this “harem action” to kick in. But, alas, we’re in the first book of the series, and I need to get to know the lay of the land before I get any action.
Honestly, I chuckled when I read the author’s note…”Don’t kill me. Please.” I was lucky enough to have Gypsy’s Blood recommended to me at the same time the second book was released. I went in knowing it was going to have a cliffie ending, but with the second one waiting, it hardly fazed me.
The characters were interesting, the storyline, while slow to begin with, definitely picked up speed. There is an underlying hum of sexual attraction between Violet and the monsters but at this stage, we’re still mostly in the dark as to where it will go. I’ve already bought Gypsy Freak and I can’t wait to see if All the Pretty Monsters come together for the reverse harem thingamajiggy.
