Only for the reckless at heart ~“Happy is the Gypsy girl with feet dirty from dancing and a heart reckless from romancing.”Rapscallion Irish Traveller, Romy Sonnenschein, may bamboozle the gullible with her fortune telling and other tricks of the trade, but she doesn’t really believe in card reading, fortune telling, palmistry and fated events like destined soul mates and such bloody rot.In … bloody rot.
In addition, she is having monumental trouble with a handsome but slick, silver-tongued attorney and a no-quarter-given Texas saddle tramp. Both she has flim-flammed with her supposed matchmaking skills and more. And both would do whatever it takes to rid themselves of this capricious thorn who has burrowed beneath their skins ~ or, conversely, give their lives to keep her.

I really enjoyed this book.
this book was not what i was expecting. Struggling life in WW2 Germany to the cttleranches of Texas during the dust bowl. Racism and stereotypes abound , a fresh look at another side of US history. Makes you wonder about Lyndon Johnson. The man who would be president. Inspiring me to learn more about history.
Clever depiction of Romani in hitlers Germany. Provides insight into gypsy culture and allows an appreciation of lifestyle. Enjoyed this very much. Brave characters that provoke one to think what they might do under such circumstances. Curious about Lyndon Johnson’s role in helping Jews.
Good story, good characters.
I could not believe one person could face so many challenges le alone two. I was really glad when they were finally back to the US and safe.
Kept you guessing what would happen next
Parris Afton Bonds never disappoints!
Great story a little usual for me but I enjoyed it
Great read
What a surprise to read this novel. It may be a first for me to read a historical romance set in Nazi Germany. Typically I find it to be a depressing era. However, the author captivated me from start to finish. A gypsy heroine, a Jewish man of interest and a tall, drink of water cowboy! You will travel from Germany and Amsterdam to Austin,Texas, to Nashville and back to Germany. It is a simply wonderful book full of adventure, sorrow, and romance. You won’t know the ending until you get there, which for myself, meant a page turner. Loved this book. Actually, I love everything Paris Afton Bond writes.
This book was OK, I found it easy to put down.
it was ok
I didn’t like this book. I couldn’t finish it.
If you like books about the World Wars and the trials faced by many this is the book for you.
Excellent read thoughly enjoy it
Could not get into it
Not completely realistic, but a totally entertaining story. It was a little hard to follow in the beginning, but was worth the effort. Wonderful characters and many twists and turns along with the historical part of the story. Will read this author again. It does have descriptive sex scenes, but works if you wish to skip them as i did.
You never knew where it was going next. This book was a wonderfull roller coaster. The ending was a great surprise. Great read
I couldn’t even get past the 2nd chapter. Story was all over the place, and jarring. I’ve read other stories by this author, but this one was just bad.
Interesting plot and a different genre with some fun sprinkled in for good measure. Seemed a little long and stretched out in the middle of the book and the ending was a little rushed. A quarter of the way in you pretty much know how the story will end. I’m not sure how you become pregnant after being sterilized in a Nazi concentration camp, but O.K., we’ll roll with that.
