No one would ever expect what haunted him because he hid it so well….
As a former Navy SEAL sniper, Brick has faced his share of intense situations, but nothing could have prepared him for his latest assignment. The king of hookups, going undercover with a ring on his left finger may as well be a noose around his neck. If that’s not enough, he’s paired with a whirlwind of a woman who’s as … who’s as outspoken as she is curvy.
Fresh off the heels of a life-changing breakup, Londyn crashes at her sister’s house. To prevent knocking heads with her future brother-in-law, Mercy, she jumps at the opportunity to take the undercover job that has her “playing house” with the notorious playboy of the Shadows crew. His laid-back personality, coupled with stunning good looks, should make this a walk in the park. If they weren’t trying to catch a murderer.
Brick, however, is unprepared for the intimacy that comes with living as a married couple and soon the lines between real life and assignment begin to blur. But beneath his easygoing smile there’s a secret he hides from the world. One he’s not sure he’s willing to let it come to light.
Note: Brick is the sixth book of the Guts & Glory series, a six-book spin-off from my Dirty Angels MC series. While it’s recommended to read both series in order, each book can be read as a stand-alone. As with all my books, this has an HEA, no cliffhanger or cheating.

I have loved the entire In the Shadows series, but Brick’s book rises to the top. Jeanne St. James is a master at her trade. She never fails to surprise me with her intriguing plots and characters. The chemistry between Brick and Londyn is hot and the witty banter between the two along with the twists and turns of the story makes this book one that you will not put down until you are finished. I absolutely loved the surprise at the ending. This book is perfection at its finest, and I am so sad to see this series end. If I could give this 100 stars, I would. I am looking forward to the next series from this amazing author!!
I loved Brick and Londyn’s story, it makes for a totally amazing read.
Sweet, sexy, steaming hot with some dark grittyness woven in to up the emotional impact!!!
It is a compelling read which i just couldnt put down!!
Awesome job – again Jeanne St James!!!
So sad to see the end of this series but Jeanne St. James saved the best for last. Brick and Londyn need to go undercover to catch a killer. With each and every chapter the two become closer even though they had made a pact to stay professional. But will the feelings that come to the surface force Brick to open his heart? Or will he walk away? With wonderful characters and a storyline that was so well written I loved this book!
A 10 star read. I loved Brick and Londyn’s story. Their chemistry was off the charts!! Also there were parts of this book, like when they introduced themselves to Chris, that had me laughing out loud. Once again the author doesn’t disappoint. What starts out as a temporary gig for these 2 ends up a relationship almost. I love the ending with the guys at the poker table egging Brick o. And Diesel!!! Great read and amazing series. This world never disappoints
These books just keep getting better and better! Loved the humor and banter of brick and londyn! They’re perfect for one another! And that amazing epilogue!!!! Wow!!! That just put a perfect bow on the entire series for me!
Heartwarming
Brick and Lyndon what a match–a match made by the presence that be.
Brick is the last of the Shadows to find a match. To fall head over heals in love without even realizing it.
The theatrics they have while in Florida had me in stitches then as Brick was telling her about his time in Pakistan had my heart breaking.
It is no wonder our soldiers come back broken.
This is another fantastic book from Jeanne St. James and damn can’t wait for the next series to hit
So this is the end of this series, and what a way to end!!
Brick has to play husband to Londyn to find a killer. While they’re supposed to keep their hands off each other it doesn’t take long before playing house leads to much more. Once the job is over, they’re going to have to pretend all is well, but can they manage that?
I’m going to miss these men, hopefully it won’t be too long until the next series starts – and I’m so looking forward to that!
I’m fairly certain that I’ve said from the first “In The Shadows Security” book that Mercy is my favorite, and don’t get me wrong I still love the big man, but Brick is giving him some competition. From the first chapter this book had me cracking up and not wanting to put it down for anything until I read the last word…it’s that good! Brick is a “hit it and quit it” kind of guy, or in Steel’s words, “swipe right, wrap it tight and escape in the middle of the night. Keep it simple, right?” He doesn’t do relationships, he doesn’t do more than one night or even a full night and he’s not one bit ashamed of that fact. Enter Londyn, Rissa’s look alike younger sister who’s not nearly as put together as Rissa, but man is she fun! Throwing these two together on a work mission and sparks, clothing and everything in between fly. Loved this story, loved these characters, loved the interaction with the other Shadows guys and of course loved Diesel! Can’t say enough good about this book and the rest of the series and of course the Dirty Angels series too, truly amazing books! Thank you Ms St. James for sharing your incredible imagination with us, I look forward to your next book!
