No one would ever expect what haunted him because he hid it so well….
As a former Navy SEAL sniper, Brick has faced his share of intense situations, but nothing could have prepared him for his latest assignment. The king of hookups, going undercover with a ring on his left finger may as well be a noose around his neck. If that’s not enough, he’s paired with a whirlwind of a woman who’s as … who’s as outspoken as she is curvy.
Fresh off the heels of a life-changing breakup, Londyn crashes at her sister’s house. To prevent knocking heads with her future brother-in-law, Mercy, she jumps at the opportunity to take the undercover job that has her “playing house” with the notorious playboy of the Shadows crew. His laid-back personality, coupled with stunning good looks, should make this a walk in the park. If they weren’t trying to catch a murderer.
Brick, however, is unprepared for the intimacy that comes with living as a married couple and soon the lines between real life and assignment begin to blur. But beneath his easygoing smile there’s a secret he hides from the world. One he’s not sure he’s willing to let it come to light.
Note: Brick is the sixth book of the Guts & Glory series, a six-book spin-off from my Dirty Angels MC series. While it’s recommended to read both series in order, each book can be read as a stand-alone. As with all my books, this has an HEA, no cliffhanger or cheating.

Brick was a great read. This is book 6 in the series. Every book kept getting better and better. I loved Brick and Londyn. 5 stars!! I couldn’t put this down till I finished reading it. I voluntarily reviewed a advanced reader copy of this book.
Jeanne St. James does it again. She knocks it out the park with Londyn and Brick’s story. This is a story full of passion, intrigue, mystery and angst. Perfect ending to a perfect series. This book doesn’t disappoint. It’s told in different points of view, no cheating, no cliffhanger, and a hea. It has a sweet wonderful epilogue. A must read. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
I love all the DAMC and In the shadows security series. Diseal was my favorite DAMC book and character. Brick has became my favorite book, character, and couple of the In the Shadows Security. I just love the way londyn and brick are together. To top it off the epilogue of this book just blew me away.
I absolutely loved this book! Brick and Londyn are amazing and this was the perfect way to end the series, even though I’m sad it’s ended. Their connection was perfectly clear and their chemistry hot enough to melt my tablet. As usual, Ms. James gives us all the feels and pulls you completely into the story. The laughter, a few tears, the drama, and steam all written fabulously together to weave a wonderful story that I won’t soon forget.
A true page turner. I highly recommend this book, series and author. Brick and Londyn are perfect together. I was so into this book that time got away from me. An absolute gem.
You heard the saying “lived up to the hype”? Well, this this final offering in author Jeanne St. James’ Shadows series, our dear friend Brick not only lived up to the hype; it defined it. Let me start with the epilogue. I won’t spoil it, but it made me swoon, get teary-eyed, laugh like an asthmatic hyena-piglet love child (ahem, again), and feel at peace knowing everything worked out for our crazy PA residents the way that it did. The epilogue also perfectly sets up the next series… but that’s another story.
Brick. Oh, dear, dear Brick. This man. What he went through, the demons he’s wrestled… No one deserves to go through that. He’s tried to both lose and find himself in hook-ups and tried to have a home—build roots—with his brothers in arms. However, it wasn’t until Londyn—yes, that is with a Y, thank you very much—that he built a home of his own. Ah, Londyn. Make no mistake: although she looks like her sister, she is no Rissa 2.0. She was her own beautifully broken yet soon to be slowly yet lovingly mended soul.
Just read this series. Just resign yourself to the fact that like with Pringle, once you read a St. James original, you cannot stop reading another one until you realize your eyes look like a panda’s because you binge read for a weekend.
Brick is my new favorite, without a doubt. I know I say that every time about Jeanne’s latest star character, but this time it’s true beyond a doubt. I was on his side the whole way. From when he was the only Shadow who took a favorable view of Londyn upon her unexpected arrival to when he so cockily assumed he wouldn’t get sent on the latest boring recon mission because he did not have a female partner. I was as surprised as Brick when Mercy partnered him with Rissa’s sister Londyn and sent him off to sunny southern Florida with directions to keep his dick in his pants! Well, I knew that wasn’t happening! What a joy it was to be stranded with these two good-natured, stubborn, smarties in a rented mansion spying on an ‘alleged’ killer and his new wife. PTSD mixes with ADHD impulsiveness with both thrills and heart-stopping danger! Jeanne tells the story just right as they pretend marriage fooling the neighbors and themselves! You know there’ll be a HEA ending–but how will it happen: surprisingly as usual! Not to be missed.
Love this book! In my opinion the relationship between Brick and Londyn in the beginning is a bit of a roller coaster but a page turner! Thank you Jeanne St. James for writing another great book!!
What a fantastic story! Brick was one of my favorite characters. He was so pigheaded on his feelings for
Londyn that I could not wait to read what he does next. He has some serious internal issues to work out and wants to keep his distance from Londyn. Londyn was his perfect match because she did not always do what he wanted her to.
This is the last book of the series and it was great. It was suspenseful, mysterious, and at times comical; everything that makes this a phenomenal ending to the series. Jeanne’s books always pull you in and you find yourself not wanting put it down anticipating what could possibly happen next. I’m excited about the start of the next series.
I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Brick has certainly shown that he has a way with woman however due to his past he has ensured that one night is more than enough. Londyn would like nothing better than to find her Prince Charming but instead she seems to end up with the frog.
They are sent on a mission where they need to pretend to be husband and wife but the alpha protector in Brick is about to find out he has met his match in the feisty and fiery Londyn.
Humor, heat, suspense and all the feels combine into a captivating story you won’t be able to put down. If this amazing series has to end it definitely ended on a high note.
I feel like a broken record when I say I absolutely fell in love with another one of Ms. St. James’ couples, but I can’t help it. It’s the truth! Londyn and Brick were such a fun couple. Before going any further I must say, while each book is a standalone I would recommend reading them in order. I would even go farther and say start with the Dirty Angels MC series. There are quite a few characters from those books who show up in this one. It will also help with the epilogue.
All the Shadows have their demons, but, oh my heart ached for Brick. What he has had to live with for many years is unimaginable. It’s no wonder he was always swiping for a hookup not allowing himself to feel anything for anyone other than his brothers. From the moment Londyn busted into the warehouse it was evident he had met the match for his heart though. I loved his protective nature but also loved seeing a playful side come out.
Londyn (Rissa/Parris’ sister) was a little lost and a lot broken hearted. But, she was a spitfire and had a lot of spunk. She was smart and level-headed, too. I really liked her! Londyn wanted a long-lasting love, something like what her parents had.
So, what could go wrong when a habitual swipe right playboy and a hopeless romantic, both with a strong attraction to each other, are thrown together in a house for a undercover assignment where they have to play husband and wife? Oh, and they had been ordered to keep their hands off each other. Yeah, right. Like that was going to happen. Sparks flew, and man, they were hot! Throw in a little danger and Brick and Londyn’s story had it all.
But, boy oh boy, that epilogue! I was not expecting that!! Although it’s something I had hoped for, I never thought I’d see the day. Not to mention the little peak into a future couple. Whew, that one’s going to be good! That’s all I’m gonna say on the matter. No spoilers here. If ya want to know what I’m talking about, I’d recommend reading both series.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
Guts & Glory, Brick was the last man standing. I didn’t know wether to finish the book fast or take my time with it. Brick is the ultimate player, like the all D’s men really. Londyn comes from a broken relationship all hard angles and smart mouthing. One mission with Brick and a simple instruction in hand, makes Londyn see everything from a new perspective. There’s suspense and lots of action, and the sexy thermometer bursts. I just loved this series from top to bottom.
I have been excitedly waiting months and months for Brick’s book to come out and let me tell you….I was not disappointed! It was even better than I was expecting! The Shadows resident player finally met his match with Londyn! This book is a captivating mix of playfulness and thriller. I read this book in a single sitting and could not put it down! Combining a flirty navy seal sniper like Brick with a head strong woman like Londyn was the perfect combination to ignite a hot story! This book could not have finished off the Guts & Glory series any better! I’m sad the series is done but I cannot wait to see what Jeanne St. James has up her sleeves next!
I loved this book!If I could give it more *s I would have!I think it was one of the best so far. When Londyn and Brick get sent to Florida to work a case to find out if a client’s daughter was murdered for her life insurance money,They take on the personas as Seamus and Gertie. That had me laughing out loud! And dead grapes too!The story was entertaining, funny and delved into why Brick was the way he was after serving as a sniper.Great book with a great ending.I highly recommend this book!I read this book as an arc and this is my honest opinion.
Not only did this tug at my heart! It made me feel every emotion possible, 2 characters you cant help but connect with and feel the emotions they go through. As like everyone of this series books you fall in love with the characters, you feel along with them and you live their story. This is a must read!
Brick: Guts & Glory Review
Londyn is a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants impulsive woman. When her heart is broken by the man she moved halfway around the world for, she goes running for her sister. Interrupting a testosterone filled night, she disrupts Mercy and Rissa’s routine.
Brick is a man who is used to swiping right/swiping left for his fun-filled nights. He is a one and done kind of man. Full of past regrets, he refuses to allow anyone into his life who might see who he truly is beneath his handsome face and stellar body.
When an opportunity comes to get Londyn out of the house and on a temporary assignment, Mercy grunts at the chance. Brick and Londyn are sent packing with the one rule stipulation: NO SLEEPING WITH THE OTHER PERSON! How hard can that be?
Turns out when heat, sexual tension, danger, and dominance are mixed together the temptation is just too much. Londyn and Brick explore the sensual and tantalizing sexual pull that is between them. But what happens when their assignment is over and they go back to the real world? Will Brick walk away and go back to his swiping lifestyle? Will Londyn get her heart broken once again?
Jeanne St. James has done it yet again! She takes two very unique, zany characters, throws in a powder keg of sexual tension, and their passion explodes onto the pages and into our world. I fell in love with Brick and Londyn. One of my favorite characters so far. The intricate way St. James balances the man who pretends to be just fine with the tragic hero he really is with the delicacy she does is truly outstanding. One of my favorite books of hers to date! I received a free copy of Guts & Glory: Brick in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved reading this book.
Brick is the 6th and last book in the Shadow Security Series.
While the guys are at Mercy’s house for guy’s night, Londyn breezes
in like gang busters.
Londyn is Rissa’s younger sister, who’s the fun one.
Brick is given an assignment that he needs her help with.
The chemistry between Brick and Londyn is off the charts hot.
Loved the interaction with the other Shadow guys and can’t forget Diesel.
Love that man.
You will laugh and cry with this book.
This is the perfect ending to this series and has hints
of what’s coming next in the future.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book from an
advanced reader copy.
Wow! I don’t know what to say here. I’ve been waiting for Brick and here he is and his story is the last in this series. Brick shows everyone what he wants them to see, deep down he’s tormented by his past and when he and Londyn are thrown together to go undercover, she turns his life upside down in ways he never knew he wanted. Londyn is quirky, sassy and has a mouth on her, but they even out each other. Brick is a one and done kind of guy but Londyn is different. She’s more than that and deserves better than what she’s had in the past. Londyn coming off a devastating relationship is attracted to Brick, but she’s totally off limits, but has that ever really stopped him before? Sparks fly, the energy between them sizzles, this is without a doubt my favorite story in this series. I loved them all but this one takes the cake. A great read you can’t miss out on. Loved it! I received a copy of this book.
I cant believe this is the last book for the men of this group. (Disclaimer, this is a stand alone but there are relationships developed in previous books that will make it so much betterr to read.) Brick is the last man to find his HEA and he doesnt want one. He is considered the player of the guys since his relationships consist of “swiping right” through apps. He never sees a woman more than once. I loved the turn of this book. Londyn has the smartest mouth of all the women who have tamed these men. She made me laugh so hard at how she puts them all in their place without seeming to even try. The forced proximity between these two will lead to trouble but in the hottest of ways. She is Brick’s perfect match and “swiping right” is all but forgotten while they together. Every one of these books has an element of suspence and running from the bad guys. This one though puts them literally right next door. I loved what Jeanne St James does with such a strong willed female character as Londyn. Not only is she real by having smart mouth, she has the body that fills out all the right boxes for Brick. Brick is as complicated as the come being a war veteran. Londyn accepts him for who he is and doesn’t change him or force him to share. And that is just what he needs to realize he is worth more than his profession.
Guts and Glory: Brick by Jeanne St. James is an amazing story. This is the sixth and last book in the In The Shadows Security series. This book had me laughing, crying, angry. I had all the feels. I could not put this book down. This book had me on an emotional roller coaster ride. It has romance, suspense, drama, intensity and feistiness of the characters. The book is well written and has very likeable characters. This is a must read. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book.
