No one would ever expect what haunted him because he hid it so well….
As a former Navy SEAL sniper, Brick has faced his share of intense situations, but nothing could have prepared him for his latest assignment. The king of hookups, going undercover with a ring on his left finger may as well be a noose around his neck. If that’s not enough, he’s paired with a whirlwind of a woman who’s as … who’s as outspoken as she is curvy.
Fresh off the heels of a life-changing breakup, Londyn crashes at her sister’s house. To prevent knocking heads with her future brother-in-law, Mercy, she jumps at the opportunity to take the undercover job that has her “playing house” with the notorious playboy of the Shadows crew. His laid-back personality, coupled with stunning good looks, should make this a walk in the park. If they weren’t trying to catch a murderer.
Brick, however, is unprepared for the intimacy that comes with living as a married couple and soon the lines between real life and assignment begin to blur. But beneath his easygoing smile there’s a secret he hides from the world. One he’s not sure he’s willing to let it come to light.
Note: Brick is the sixth book of the Guts & Glory series, a six-book spin-off from my Dirty Angels MC series. While it’s recommended to read both series in order, each book can be read as a stand-alone. As with all my books, this has an HEA, no cliffhanger or cheating.

Brick and London, aka Seamus and Gertrude, lol. London comes in like a whirl wind with a broken heart and decides to help Brick with an assignment. There are quite a few twists and turns while trying to fight their attraction to each other. She’s jaded and he’s fighting his own demons. Can they be good for each other? Can’t tell you. But I can say- Get this book asap! You won’t be disappointed.
I don’t think there could have been a better ending to this series. Bricks book is nothing short of holy amazing. This is the last book in the shadows and as brick goes undercover he may just discover that he wants more then just the next hookup. I recommend this whole series but cause wow the characters and story line is amazing you will laugh and cry and scream and in the end your heart will be full from the rollercoaster that is Jeannie
Swipe left, swipe love, these are too totally different people that absolutely fit together. Brick is a once and done kind of guy and Londyn is coming out of a painful relationship and is looking for something like what her sister has. Who can blame her? Most of us are looking for happily ever after. This book was an absolutely amazing whirlwind of a story. Jeanne St. James has written stories in an imaginary world of caring, alpha men and passionate women who compliment and complete each other. This was a great way to end the series!
5 The Best for Last Stars
Brick is the sixth and final book in the In the Shadows Security Series by Jeanne St. James. She sure did leave one of the best for last! Londyn is one of my favourite leading ladies from this series. She was so funny, I loved how feisty, sassy and likable, she cracked me up something fierce!
“You need to stop picking yourself apart. I don’t see those pieces of you, I see you as a whole. But even if I did, every piece of you makes you who you are.”
Brick and Londyn’s chemistry was of the charts and so enjoyable to read. This was a great end to the series and I highly recommend not only Brick but the whole 6 books to read.
5 star review of Guts & Glory: Brick (In the Shadows Security #6) by Jeanne St James
Audio Review
The sixth book in the series and wow, I loved it. It was a fantastic addition to the series. I think I have a new favourite book boyfriend. Narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Ava Lucas who did a great job with the narration, I was engrossed in the storyline from the first to the last chapter and couldn’t wait to see what Ms. St James had in store for Brick and Londyn.
The chemistry and passion between them was off the charts and yet underneath you can feel the attraction and love that is building between them. I loved how feisty and sassy Londyn is and I fell hard and fast for Brick, he ticked all the boxes for me.
The story was well written, gritty, raw and the performances by Teddy and Ava really added to my overall enjoyment of the story. The banter between them had me laughing on numerous occasions as they embark on an undercover assignment and the suspense that is throughout the story added an additional layer.
Guts & Glory: Brick
In the Shadows Security, Book 6
By: Jeanne St. James
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Ava Lucas
I don’t know where the ideas come from, but each book Jeanne St. James writes is original and exciting. Brick is a former Navy seal, now working for Diesel and Shadows Security. He is sent on a case with his pretend wife, Londyn with the distinct orders not to touch her. No problem for him, he isn’t interested in a relationship, and they were on a mission. But the chemistry is palpable, the danger high and the tension to strong. Proving their target is a killer is the first priority, right? I absolutely love this couple. Brick appears to be carefree, but he has so many layers to him and Londyn gets to peel them away. Londyn is amazing. I think she is my favorite female of all the books. Resilient, loving and entirely too brave, she is ready to take on the world for her man. And the case they are on is exciting and suspenseful! I loved every minute of their journey. Then the surprise in the epilogue was just icing on the cake! Another fantastic book!
Ava Lucas and Teddy Hamilton bring the story to life. Lucas finds all the nooks and crannies to Londyn, giving her all the strength and passion to her. With her narration, the nuances carry her feelings and courage. Hamilton gives Brick complexity to his personality. From alpha male to fear to love, it’s all there in his voice. A fantastic casting choice for this book, it’s one you do not want to miss.

There are many ways the break down a Brick wall and you need proceed with caution because you may not get out from under the rubble if it falls on you or should I say, in London’s case, she made sure Brick fell all over with such delicious force that never wants the get out from under him. Who wouldn’t want to feel the weight that Yummy load of Brick’s power all the time. Again this story is different from the others and it’s absolutely brilliant. A perfect end to an excellent series and enjoyed every single one of them. Can’t wait for more book from Jeanne.
The last installment of the Guts & Glory series and one of my favorites. Brick and Londyn were great characters and their chemistry was off the charts. Brick has been the jokester of the guys so I was excited to get his story. We know our Shadows are all broken in some way and what happened in Brick’s past is enough to break anyone. I loved how this author writes alphas with a soft spot for their woman. And strong heroines that overcome their obstacles and get their HEA. So sad this series is coming to an end.
As always another great in this series. Loved the chemistry between Brick and Londyn and the storyline keeps you intrigued.
I’m not sure how I feel about this series ending. I feel in love with Brick I always felt he was a carefree laid back person but now I see him in a complete different way. Just like all the men in this series Brick falls hard and doesn’t know what to think about it. Londyn is in a league of her own I love the drama that comes with these two the storyline as always is interesting and holds your attention. The mystery is can these two work together and find the love they both want
Guts & Glory: Brick is book six of the In The Shadows Security series and although it is a standalone I highly recommend you read the whole series, trust me you won’t regret it. As with every Jeanne St. James book I started reading in the morning so I didn’t have any interruptions and as always I am so glad I did. This book had it all drama, humor, romance, suspense, well developed characters and an epilogue that was the cherry on top. Brick and Londyn’s steamy love story is a great read and a perfect ending to the series.
Well she did it again. I think I’m just in love with this author’s writing. She has a way of pulling me into her story everytime! Brick is by far my favorite in the shadow series. He just grabbed my heart. Her mc series is what I started on with this author and I find that no matter what I read it keeps me turning the pages. She writes a great story with great scenes.
Whoa, I just finished Brick and Londyn’s story and I don’t know that I have the words for how much I LOVED this one! Brick has always seemed happy go lucky especially compared to Mercy. Nothing seemed to get to him but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Londyn always seemed just a smidgen flighty, the little bit she was mentioned in other books. What it masked was how much she was searching for something real. I say this with every book by the wickedly talented Jeanne St James but this one is my favorite. The whole plot and the two of them working together was riveting. I loved getting to know the both of them and seeing some favorites from past books. Fantastically written, with a bit of suspense and sizzling chemistry, Brick and Londyn deserve all the stars!
Incredible! This is the second St. James series I have finished, and I honestly didn’t think anything could compare to the Down & Dirty Series, until now.
Brick, who I always considered a man whore, literally fell like a ton of Bricks when it came to Londyn. Without giving away any spoilers, let me say this was a fantastic ending to another incredible series, and MOST DEFINITELY worth the read!
Such a bittersweet moment finishing this book. As magnificent as it was to read, but knowing that this is the final book in this series had my emotions see-sawing.
One thing Jeanne has mastered is her ability to write the strongest heroine’s I have ever read. Every female in this series has not only been fabulous to read, but they have all left me feeling I wished that they were actually women that I not only knew but could call friend.
Londyn was no exception. I think out of all the women, she was hands down the funnest & funniest. Brick didn’t know what hit him, and I also think he didn’t know that she was what had been missing in his life all along.
As normal, Jeanne has also thrown in a whole heap of action & suspense. But what she also excels at is that even though each book has had this, they are all unique.
Now fingers crossed that isn’t too much of a wait for Jeanne’s next series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book
I received an advanced copy from the author for my honest review. Yet another amazing series by Jeanne is unfortunately coming to an end……and boy does she know how to end a series with a bang! Brick loves women as much as they love him, he’s a no strings, swipe right kind of guy. Londyn has come to stay with her sister Rissa after finding out she has wasted the last few years on a lying douche canoe boyfriend. When a case comes up that calls for a “married couple” it is given to Brick. Mercy so graciously volunteers his future sister-in-law who he just so happens want out of his house as Brick’s “wife”. As Brick and Londyn work together playing man and wife to catch the bad guy it starts to feel kind of real, but it can’t be real. Brick has demon’s that no one knows about and he can’t forget. All Londyn wants is love…real love, but she knows as the end of the assignment will be the end of their “love” Can something fake become real? A DEFINITE MUST READ!!!!!
This story surprised me!!
The final book in the Guts and Glory: In The Shadows Security is the story of Brick and Londyn (do you remember who she is??) I was so happy to see the return of this character and who her love interest was going to be.
I was hooked from the first chapter, it is quite funny and then goes from there. Of course Mercy is non too pleased that she has arrived to interrupt his life and he is hell bent on making sure she isn’t staying for a long time. Brick is intrigued with her and thinks he wants to get know her more…and oh yes he is going to get that chance on his next assignment.
I love how the author portrayed Londyn in this book, she has insecurities, she has doubts about herself being with a man like Brick. And how Brick didn’t even give in to how she felt, he was always positive towards her feelings even at time being her cheerleader telling her to buck up.
Oh, and the epilogue is just perfect, if you want to know what happens, you must read it. So good!!
Guts and Glory: Brick was awesome as we have come to expect from Jeanne St. James. The story line will have you on the edge of your seat and biting your nails. You will not want to put it down for a second. I can’t wait for the next one don’t know what I will do when there is no more love these guys. Go grab it now.
This book was so beautifully written with characters that were created with great detail and depth that I was totally enamored with Brick and Londyn as their journey flawlessly unfolded!
What an amazing ending to a wonderful series. JSJ had me from the very beginning. It was over before I knew it. But JSJ entertained me from the beginning. she had me laughing, crying, getting all steamy and so much more. This a wonderful story with wonderful characters that completed each other like no other. I so wanted to be a part of the story so it would never end. this is definitely re-read series and especially this one. Kudos to JSJ for bringing this amazing story to me (us). Love, love it!!!
