Gusty winds…and a trail of destruction. Graduate student Raina Sun is in for a season of mayhem and murder. When she volunteered to take the new foreign exchange student shopping on the last weekend before Christmas, she ended up in a riot for the last hot toy of the season and an abandoned baby. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be a Good Samaritan. But calling the mysterious phone number in the … number in the diaper bag leads to more questions than answers. A strange man claims to be the child’s father, and his alleged mother turns up dead. The local police are more interested in keeping the town’s good name out of international news than considering if there’s foul play. And to make matters worse, she has less than a week to find his birth parents before the FBI takes over the case.
Raina summons her sleuthing skills to protect this baby and soon discovers everyone has a few skeletons in their closets. With her pimp-cane-toting grandma, she must track down a hidden killer before she becomes the next victim. There’s no place for an amateur when it comes to murder…

I love this series – unfortunately I did not read the books in order – but no big deal if you have an organized mind. PoPo is my favorite character – she reminds me of my Oma.
A fun, intersting and entertaining book. Loved Raina and her grandmother. Great plotting! I am hooked on this series.
Raina Sun is up to her elbows contending with love struck men, abandoned babies and murders. She’s innocently pulled into intrigue of solving crime and mayhem. A good way to pass the time trying to beat her to the right conclusion of this mystery. Thank you Anne.
Enjoy this series. Easy to read
Love the continually adventures of these characters. This author never disappoints.
It is a quick read.
It is realistic how difficult it can be to keep family secrets. But our sleuth doesn’t let it keep her from tracking down what happened to a baby’s mother – or is she?
Raina, a Chinese-American young woman, is caught up in several messes. The inheritance mess happened because her grandfather left her the entire three million dollar fortune while leaving her cousins one dollar each. She can’t tell them why without betraying a confidence. Her second mess is that she’s on the fence about breaking up with Matthew, her boyfriend of ten years. Her third mess starts when a woman asks Raina to hold a newborn while the woman goes to the bathroom. The woman never returned, and was killed in a hit and run accident soon after. So Raina has to help solve the murder and find the baby’s real mother. The book is okay and has some witty conversation, especially between Raina and her grandma Po Po. But I thought the plot was tired and didn’t think the characters were great.
Loved it.
Will read this author again. Just a hoot!

Fun read.
Entertaining story with interesting twists. Worth reading.
I really enjoyed this book as a clean, fun read!
Learned Chinese customs-interesting.
I enjoyed the snippets of images and meanings of simple items for Chinese Americans. The possibilities of familial guilt and manipulation leading to “the old country” was fascinating.
I enjoyed the story and the lead character. The author has a great way of building characters and the story. Really a fun, easy read.
