A THIRDS Novella THIRDS agent Dexter J. Daley can’t wait to marry his fianc#65533;, Team Leader Sloane Brodie, but first he’s looking forward to celebrating his bachelor party–which he intends to be a shenanigans-free evening of getting his groove on with family and friends. Of course events don’t work out as planned, but for Dex that’s nothing new. One thing is for sure, dodging drug dealers … for sure, dodging drug dealers and hired thugs amid booze, dancing–and even a bear costume–will guarantee it’s a night Dex will never forget. Now he just needs to survive all the fun.
Enjoy this bonus story from the THIRDS universe. These events occur between Darkest Hour Before Dawn and Tried & True in the series timeline. While reading this story would enhance your experience of the THIRDS series, it is not essential to read before Tried & True.

This was such a fun novella. I laughed and laughed so much.
Dex’s bachelor party is definitely a night to remember for the ages and I loved seeing all of his friends and family there to celebrate him (and Sloane).
We also get a surprise appearence from a certain sociopath assassin. *cackles*
This was such a fun novella! It’s your typical Dex shenanigans and appearances of your favorite characters. Plus, Sloane and Maddox have dinner together (it’s as hilarious as it sounds). A great addition to the series!
This novella is a bridge to the 10th and final THIRDS book. It describes Dex’s bachelor party which of course could not be a normal, run of the mill stag party! There are interesting scenarios created which start with the fact that Sloane will not be present for the events as it is Dex’s party. Neither of them is particularly thrilled about this as they can’t stand being apart from one another.
Cael and Hudson have planned the night’s events, at least the ones they are expecting. It is nice at the outset to read the descriptions of everyone arriving for the party as it gives us a reintroduction/refresher on everyone we have met in the series thus far. As the story progresses we get character traits reinforced and we learn a bit new about some of the characters.
While Dex is at his party Sloane spends the evening at Tony’s in a little family bonding exercise which is a bit weird for Sloane.
I don’t want to talk about the various events so as to avoid spoilers but through those events we learn more about the TIN training Dex has been through, what his current status is, and we get a peek at what is to come.
The segue to the final book, Tried and True, when Dex and Sloane’s marriage takes place is subtle. But as I somehow skipped this book on my initial read of the series, and I recalled events of the big day I could see some foreshadowing in this book.
I really enjoyed this series and I cannot wait for the TIN portion of the journey to begin. Strongly recommend.
I do want to note that I’m not thrilled with the new cover. The original cover much more closely matches the tone of the book. The new one, aside from having Sloane look really weird offers a spoiler which takes away from the suspense of one scene. I’m not a fan of the new convers on these books as I don’t believe the artwork does the characters justice.
*I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my objective review *
It would seem the shenanigans that find Dex are both of his making and completely random coincidences that are just as drawn to him as Sloane is. I’m not sure there’s anything Dex could do to live just one normal day and I’m not sure I’d have it any other way either.
The title is extremely apt for the crazy that Dex finds himself chasing. (And can I just say how much I dislike this new cover? The other new ones are tolerable, but this one is rather…unfortunate because it’s both unattractive and a spoiler that ruins the obvious surprise that is arranged for Dex.) Dex’s love of gummy bears gets him into trouble this time and while he’s totally in the right, it’s the way he goes about trying to get a handle on the situation that makes it purely Dex and utterly ridiculous. But it’s the newscast that captures the most embarrassing part of it all that is the icing on the cake and embodies everything we’ve come to love and expect.
The consequences of the hilarity however, bring a more solemn feel to all that Dex now is and will need to consider as he and Sloane move forward together in life and in their careers. There’s a whole lot more to think about as he jumps into the fray and despite his new training, which we get to see with another encounter during this story, he’s still at risk.
What I’m interested in that this story introduces is not just the genetic risks they’re as yet unaware of, but the newer group that has plans that are still mostly shadowed. A whole lot of questions are being brought up that bear significant weight and signify a whole new enemy and mystery that seems too large to be wrapped up in the next, and last, book of this series arc. For such a short story there’s an incredible amount of information, capers, and surprises included. This was an amusing, exciting, and sweet addition to the series and I’ll be on the edge of my seat to see how everything culminates and concludes in Tried & True.
Threat Level Fuchsia!!
It’s time for Dex’s bachelor party and you know things are gonna get crazy! Whatever Dex goes, chaos follows and I love it! I’ll never get a certain cowboy hat wearing jaguar out of my head. I highly recommend the entire series!
I am pretty sure this far in the series everyone is clicking the Buy option without hesitation, but if somehow you still need encouragement, here goes:
This story is full of all things Dex, full of action, hillarious and at times, just the right amount of serious to balance it out into a perfect portion of THIRDS.
I don’t know how Charlie Cochet comes up with the ideas, but this was a brilliant read!
Another interlude in the story. Funny, witty, entertaining and action-packed-page-turner as every other book in this amazing series, this short story showed us how amazing is Dex and Sloane’s relationship and how closed they are with their friends/family. I loved every single page on it making me laughed alongside them. Wonderful series full of wonderful complex characters. Ms Cochet is an expert putting everyone and everything in their right place.
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Gummy Bears & Grenades by Charlie Cochet is a novella in the THIRDS universe. This is a treat of a read revolving around Dex’s bachelor party and the surprising events that occur during the celebration. This book was fun, hilarious, sweet and a bit suspenseful. I love Dex, Sloane and the rest of the Thirds family. Definitely recommend this series.
Bamboozled
“Wherever you go, I go.” I love Sloane, Dex and entire THIRDS cast so much. I don’t think there are enough words to express how much but they make me so happy. I can’t stop laughing at their antics and all of the informative conversations. May I just say best dance ever and I really want to hang out with Dex and his family. They have the best parties, even with the party crashers and also, I need pics. Can’t wait for Sloane and Dex’s wedding and for what’s next in this phenomenal world.
This book was hilarious! Dex’s bachelor party was everything I wanted and more. It was one funny moment after another with super hot scenes between Sloane and Dex. I am really glad that there was a break in all the intense and angsty drama to have some light hearted fun. I think the series needed this laugh and I loved it.
Another winner from Ms Cochet. This was a short novella featuring most of the characters from the THIRDS series, many steamy moments between Dex and Sloane *fans herself furiously* and plenty hilarious situations that had me in stitches. But as always with guys from Destructive Delta, besides having the time of their lives they managed to kick a$$ and take names all in one night! A marvelous addition to series!
