Prairie Heat
Prairie Heat was the first book I have ever read from this author and I think I just found a new favorite author. I will be 1- clicking everything she puts out.
I really enjoyed this book. It has everything – love, growth, hurt, betrayal, crazy ex, crazy families, heart and sexy times.
What can I say about Blake, he was a definite book boyfriend. He is just an all-around good man who wanted to do right by his family. Some of his choices were a little misguided but his intentions were true.
Maddie was a character that at times I really liked her but there were other times I wanted to knock sense into her. To me, emotions are basic human characteristic. Everyone has them and most expresses them. So, I had a hard time relating to Maddie in a few scenes because she was acting almost like a robot. But I had to keep in mind, given how she was raised and then what happened with her first boyfriend, I might be closed off also.
A Hero’s Honor
I have been a huge fan of the series – Cowboys of Flint Hills. When I heard there was going to be a spin off I very excited to read it and this book didn’t disappoint.
You got a taste of Travis in one of Mrs. Layne’s other books, but it plays so well in this book. Travis is a former Navy SEAL who is still carrying the burden of an op gone wrong. He has a lot of guilt over it so he has put up roadblocks in his life to prevent himself from “feeling”. However, he can’t seem to stop the feelings he has concerning Elaine, a woman who he has been secretly interested in for the past two years.
Elaine is a single mom who is just trying to make it. She has done things in her past that she isn’t proud of but works every day to make sure that she is doing right by her son and by the people that she cares about.
When these two-start working together after being pushed together by a friend, they can’t seem to escape the sparks that arise when they are around each other. This was fun and hot to read!
Mr. Pink
I have been a fan of Mrs. Layne’s for a while now, so I was very excited to hear she was starting a new series. As a fan of her cowboys, I was interested to see her new direction.
I have to say that I had a hard time in the very beginning of the book, I like my hero to be cocky but not so arrogant. This would be how I would describe Austin. There weren’t many redeemable qualities about him and other than being good in bed, so I couldn’t see the appeal for Macey.
However, after a while Austin started to grow on me when he started to let his walls down. I loved the parts when he was the most vulnerable. When he had to take care of Macey’s daughter and believing he’s not a kid person. I loved reading about Macey’s daughter pushing boundaries and him catching on. Watching Austin grow in the book was interesting to read.
Macey was a woman that I admired. She was someone who was dealt a huge blow when her husband died and has done an amazing job putting her life together. She seems to be a wonderful and caring mom and coworker and friend.
Wild Thang
This is a prequel into the Titans of Tech series. You meet Mason and Luci in this book.
Both Mason and Luci have had an interest in each other and have been circling each other for awhile now. However, it just hasn’t been the right time until a layover at an airport puts these two together and sparks fly.
I loved the realistic notion that Mason would literally move mountains to get what he wanted and that was Luci. He wanted to make all her dreams come true!
