I LOVE the Anita Blake series and I am rereading them now that I am adding them to my collection instead of borrowing them. Definitely a series that just gets better and better each book you read.
Awesome
I love these books. I own most of them in in paper or on my e reader.
I love this series and have all of them.
Not to heavy on erotica, more fun. Interesting for people from St Louis.
Anita Blake the vampire hunter. Although reading this book I found her to be the worse vampire hunter I’ve ever read.
From the very first sentence of this story, it becomes immediately apparent that she is afraid of what? Oh my goodness, Vampires. Like seriously. But I tried not to let that bother me, so chucked on with the story. The premise of story is that she is hired by vampires of all things to hunt down someone killing vampires. Say what!!!!!! Ok, not a big deal. Except for the fact that she is a terrible crime solver, since she came up with zero leads, and she only discovered the killer until they told her they were the killer, to her face. Such a disappointment. Oh yea and there was almost no real killing of vampires on her part. Why does the one real hot vampire, Jean Claude not enough mentions? Uggghhhh such a frustrating book.
I still gave it three stars on the fact that I kinda like Anita as a character. She’s kind of funny. Except she is not badass at all. The second thing is that I enjoyed the male characters in this book. Yea, that’s about it. I’m not sure if I want to continue this series.
It’s been awhile since I read this in hardcover, but was glad to read it again. Well written and it reignited my interest in the series.
I originally read this ages ago and occasionally go back for a repeat. It really is a very engaging, interesting page-turner of a book and an appropriate tone-setter for the series. In this alternate-modern-world where were-animals, vampires and other bump-in-the-nighters exist, the characters are portrayed in an impressive mix of human and other-wordly, scary and sexy, good and evil. And no single species or being-type is only one or the other.
Amazing!!!!
Love this writer, her characters also so unique and multi dimensional. I can picture each each one and “see ” the story develop in my mind! So creative and fabulous!
The early books by this author are the best.
This is a great series of books but I would suggest reading them in order. There are so many characters involved it’s easier to keep track of them if you meet them when they are first introduced.
This is an earlier ANITA BLAKE story and one of the reasons I keep reading her newer works hoping she will return to telling actual stories rather than describing weird sexual practices. Worth the price but you really should read them in order so you don’t get lost and you will understand the plots a little better.
So steamy it might make you take up smoking
Some of the best. I only collect books i will read again this one is an old friend!
Love anything Laurell K. Hamilton.
I love all the books in this series. Can’t wait to see what Anita and all her “guys” are going to do next. And what the next big bad will do.
I loved it
I read the Anita Blake series when it first came out and loved it then. They had the first one as a “free” book. When I re-read it and remembered how much I was enthralled by the plot and twists, I am continuing to purchase the other books of the series – I had given away my hard copies and will now have them all on my Kindle.
What an imagination this author has.
