Unlock the secrets in Reunion Gap… Meredith spent years searching for the elusive “something” that would give her life meaning, but all she found were dead-end jobs, false starts, empty relationships, and wrong choices. When she decides to ditch her designer lifestyle and settle in Chicago, a routine trip to the grocery store prompts the creation of a company for struggling entrepreneurs—and gives her life meaning.
Eight months later, Meredith once again experiences a random life-changing encounter when former Reunion Gap resident Daniel Reese walks into a café. What are the odds that two people from the same small town would both land in Chicago at the same café? Or that he’d be a woodworker looking for a big break and she’d own a company that helped entrepreneurs? He seems more interested in her than her support, and there’s no denying the white-hot attraction that has him calling their meeting destiny.
Except it isn’t. It’s all been orchestrated in Daniel’s attempt to save his father from the blackmail scheme he’s been caught up in by the most ruthless man in Reunion Gap—Meredith’s father. Daniel will have to pretend he’s a wannabe woodworker low on cash and not the anonymous artist behind the famous woodturning company that’s gained national recognition. And he’ll have to find a way to lure Meredith back to Reunion Gap for a “meeting” with her father. Then he can come clean and hope she forgives him.
But it’s not going to be that easy… Once Meredith learns about the real Daniel Reese and how he’s played her, only forgiveness, true love, and destiny will bring them back together…

Falling in love was easy. Digging your way out of the hole you made much harder.
What we all need in this time of the COVID pandemic is to sit down and read a Mary Campisi book about the residents of Reunion Gap where people have values like honesty and integrity, where neighbors care about each other, where couples love deeply, and families stand strong together. Something about Mary Campisi books restore faith in human nature.
Guilty Like Us is the story of heiress Meredith Alexander, long estranged daughter of unscrupulous Harrison Alexander, manipulator of men including his own family to achieve his goals. Meredith’s life used to be designer clothes, society events, high end shopping, and equally false relationships until she accidentally dell into her passion. She ripped apart one of her “worn-once society dresses”, bought herself a sewing machine, and taught herself to make headbands. With these repurposed headbands, she coerced a frenemy to sing their praises and her product was launched! And, Meredith’s company was launched! She could help struggling entrepreneurs to start their own companies.
Meanwhile, Daniel Reese, also a transplant from Reunion Gap but now living in Chicago, was approached by his father. His father was being blackmailed by none other than Harrison Alexander for covering up cooked books years ago. Harrison wanted his daughter back in Reunion Gap and Daniel Reese was going to deliver her! To save his father, Daniel agreed. Thinking that Meredith was a spoiled socialite he could easily maneuver, Daniel assumed a fake persona and met Meredith under contrived circumstances. He was a in for a big surprise.
The more that Daniel and Meredith met, the more they enjoyed each other’s company. The more they fell in love, but a rude awakening was coming for both of them.
I consider Mary Campisi books treasures. She weaves the best story plots and develops full characters. She introduces new characters that we may have met before but not to the extent that we really know them. As the main characters, they grow before our eyes, previous characters we met in other books weave in and out of the storyline, so we know that we are back with friends.
Do I recommend this book? Yes, Wholeheartedly, we all need a little Mary Campisi in our lives especially now. I was initially received this book as an advanced readers’ copy and agreed to give an honest review in exchange. I bought this book because it became one of my favorites very quickly. It will become one of yours too. Thank you, Mary Campisi.
Sometimes we get caught up in a situation where we have no idea how to escape the consequences. This is what happened to To
Danoel.when his heart is broken, he takes desperate measures. An exciting love story. I received this book as an advance copy but the review is my own true opinion.
I read this book as an ARC and these are my honest opinions
Thank you Mary Campisi for writing a great story. Harrison Alexander is pure evil. I’m just glad that Meredith and Daniels love was stronger than her fathers evil.
