“Murder, dirty politics, pirate lore, and a hot police detective . . . A cozy lover’s dream come true” from the New York Times bestselling author (Susan McBride, USA Today bestselling author). In the gentle coastal town of South Cove, California, all Jill Gardner wants is to keep her store—Coffee, Books, and More—open and running. So why is she caught up in the business of murder? When Jill’s … business of murder?
When Jill’s elderly friend, Miss Emily, calls in a fit of pique, she already knows the city council is trying to force Emily to sell her dilapidated old house. But Emily’s gumption goes for naught when she dies unexpectedly and leaves the house to Jill—along with all of her problems . . . and her enemies. Convinced her friend was murdered, Jill is finding the list of suspects longer than the list of repairs needed on the house. But Jill is determined to uncover the culprit—especially if it gets her closer to South Cove’s finest, Detective Greg King. Problem is, the killer knows she’s on the case—and is determined to close the book on Jill permanently . . .

What a great first in series. I love the characters, the set up and the premise.
Jill Gardner moved to South Cove, California
leaving her law practice and ex-husband
behind. Her move was encouraged by an
elderly neighbor, Miss Emily who was to
become a very close friend.
Jill is the owner of Coffee, Books and More.

This is the first book in the Tourist Trap mystery series and I really enjoyed it. The mystery flowed smoothly, and I liked the protagonist, Jill Gardner. But I REALLY liked Detective Greg King. The romance built in a quiet, step-by-step way that made the man endearing. I plan to read more in this series.
I love this series. You never know what will happen next.
Very good, funny read. I’ve read two books from the series. Very entertaining.
Easy read- entertaining- good for a break in the chaos of today
I just finished reading the Guidebook To Murder, A Tourist Trap Mystery. I met the author, Lynn Cahoon, at a recent book fair in Boise this summer. I really enjoyed visiting with her, she’s a delightful lady. This book is one in a series about a woman who owns a book store-coffee shop in a small coastal town. Perfect setting for a cozy mystery, …
The only thing I didn’t like was i waited forever for “the kiss” and it was quick, interrupted and way at the end!
I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. I immediately loved Jill. I was pulled into her small town life. I loved the twist and can’t wait to read the next one.
A fun new start to a cozy mystery series! Jill is a bookstore owner, what reader does not have that dream? She finds herself amid a murder investigation when her friend Miss Emily is found dead. I wanted to keep reading to solve the mystery with Jill!
A Guidebook to Murder, the 1st in Lynn Cahoon’s Tourist trap series is a good cozy mystery. I first read this 2014 and when I had the chance to hear the audio version, I jumped on it. Set in a small coastal California town with a strong female lead, this cozy has all the elements I like: a good mystery, great characters, a dash of romance, and …
I liked it.
Guidebook to Murder is the first of Lynn Cahoon’s A Tourist Trap Mystery and was a great read! Jill Gardner moved to South Cove, California 5 years ago to open Coffee, Books and More. This was a slow starter for me [and looking back at the other Lynn Cahoon books I have read, the first one almost always seems problematic] and I am going to read the second only because the other ones I have read seem to pick up in book 2.
NOT crazy about the MC. She is a bit of a whiner. Who runs a business that she claims to love, but also that …
Kept me in suspense but it started out so confusing that I had to go back and forth to find out why I was so confused about who was talking until I discovered that each little paragraph was actually listed at the beginning. I guess it was me but I couldn’t put the darn book down. Grandma fox
If you are looking for a great book with a plot full of twists, turns, intrigue and a little bit of romance, this is the book for. I fell in love with the characters immediately and can’t wait to visit with them again!
Great new to me cozy mystery series! The book was excellently plotted with multiple potential suspects for the suspect pool, layered mysteries that may or may not be connected (you’ll have to read to unravel that part for yourself, no spoilers here!) and great interpersonal relationship plots peppered throughout to add interest to the intrigue! …
Great book! I’m so glad I was finally able to start this series! In this first book, Jill, owner of Coffee, Books, and More, inherits a house after an elderly friend is found dead. It turns out to be murder and now Jill is in harm’s way as a developer tries to get her to sell the house and she receives threatening notes. I loved the characters …
Every one of Lynn Cahoon’s tourist trap mystery books is a gem! This one is no exception. There is lots of character interaction among the whimsical characters, including a self-proclaimed psychic who just might be the real deal. The dialogue between Jill and her aunt and her aunt and her suitor Josh is often very funny and surprisingly relateable. …
Love all of her books.
