Eric Harvey is the perfect man to play journalist Beth William’s fake husband—he’s a guy and he’s willing. Beth is on the cusp of breaking a huge story about an exclusive couples-only retreat when her partner becomes ill. In walks Eric, her brother’s buddy, and a brilliant idea strikes her. This Navy SEAL, on leave nursing an injury, could step in and pose as her husband while she tries to … uncover what’s really happening at the retreat. With their story set, the two head to the tropical island, ready to do their job. It’s all business—until it isn’t. Beth hadn’t realized how difficult it was going to be pretending to be in love while not actually falling in love with this sexy man. As the two get closer to finding the truth about the resort, Beth finds herself getting unexpectedly closer to Eric. Something that wasn’t in the plan at all.
Eric agreed to Beth’s plan out of pure boredom. Why not spend some time on a tropical island with a beautiful girl, even if his buddy’s sister is completely off limits? But it doesn’t take long before he realizes something is seriously wrong with this paradise. Someone seems to be out to hurt Beth, kicking Eric’s protective instincts into high gear. Now he’s keeping Beth close for her safety even as his head warns him to keep his distance. Sure, there’s danger on the island, but the most dangerous thing may be the way his body and his heart is responding to Beth.
Thank goodness Beth reminds him that the only reason she is on the island is for her job—a job that just might kill them both…or leave their hearts in tatters if they don’t trust in each other…
This novel contains sexual content, violence, and profanity.

Guarding His Pretend Wife is book two of Leslie North’s SEAL Endgame series and while the setting is a tropical paradise, the storyline is jam-packed with mystery and intrigue.
Navy SEAL, Eric Harvey is convalescing and going insane from the daily boredom, so an offer to act as his best friend’s little sister Beth Williams` fake husband in an exotic locale, might just save his mind. That’s until the “Bro Code” is put to the test and unknown forces are endangering his “wife’s” life.
This story has an interesting plot, beautiful location and some seriously HOT chemistry between our lead characters too. A quick, engaging and enjoyable tale, it’s sure to be another popular read with Ms North’s bevy of fans.
4.5 stars *****. Beth is a journalist on the cusp of starting an investigation of a couples retreat until her fake husband falls ill. Eric is on medical leave from his Seal team and promised his teammate that he would look in on his sister. Beth’s lightbulb goes off and she convinces his to join her since he is at loose ends. Something doesn’t feel right about the owner who just materialised five years ago. To.complicate this little farce a little more, there are attraction zings between them which doesn’t make her brother happy. Things heat up when they uncover what’s going on! Nicely written and enjoyable read.

This is the second book in the SEAL Endgame series. It reads as a standalone. You do not need to read the first book to enjoy this one. I liked this book. Beth and Eric were both likeable characters and the story line was pretty face paced. I found myself not wanting to put this one down.
Beth is trying to crack a story and needs a fake husband. The story she’s working on has to do with a couples retreat and her original writing partner is sick in the hospital and can’t make it. Eric is currently on leave from the Navy because of an injury and promised his buddy he’d check on his sister.
Eric has nothing better to do so he decided to help Beth out by being her fake husband for the sake of the story. It’s for his buddy’s little sister and she’s off limits so it’s no big deal, right? If only he didn’t find himself attracted to Beth. How had can it be to pretend to be in love without falling in love when you don’t do love and relationships?
Danger ensues and Eric has to try to protect Beth. Can they make it out alive and with their hearts intact or will one or both of them end up with broken hearts?

Eric is on medical leave for a bullet wound and he’s checking on his friends sister as a favor. He wasn’t expecting the beautiful woman and she looks nothing like her brother Heath. Eric is a Navy Seal and Beth is a reporter. She’s working on a possible fraud story and her partner got sick and couldn’t go undercover with her. So she talks Eric into going with her. But there is trouble along the way and they fall in love as well. There is action, steam scenes and HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Beth needs a “partner” to get the scoop on a story …. enter Eric, a SEAL and her brother’s best friend. Sparks fly immediately at first meet but both try hard to ignore them. The author does a fantastic job developing and building the story with all the secrets and danger as well as the growing sexual tension. She brings the story to life with her descriptive writing and detailed scenes as well as the intriguing and hot story line. It’s well written, moves quickly and smoothly and I loved reading. Highly recommend.

I loved that this story is short but you get so much with it that you don’t feel like you missed anything. What starts off as a fake relationship quickly turns into something more. It was hard to deny the attraction and connection between Beth and Eric and I could feel it coming off the page. I only wish we could have gotten an epilogue where we get a glimpse of them in the future.

Both Eric and Beth are take charge people so you can imagine the head to heads these two have along the story, it’s a nice easy read this book has plenty of actions and a story that has you guessing what will happen. A true romantic hot chemistry story set in an island paradise. Very good book.
I was super intrigued once I figured out the storyline (within the first few pages) and really excited to read a mystery romance. It was a great blending of crime, military, and romance!

Cute story with a twist of danger…Eric and Beth have some issues with relationships but, they figure that they could pull off faking it for Beth’s expose on a couples retreat. Her investigative instincts know there is a story there that will take her career to the next level. As they pretend to be married Eric and Beth can’t resist their attraction. It’s is too hot to conrol and ignore as the danger becomes deadly. It’s exciting to find out if Eric can save them both and manage a happy ending.
