Eric Harvey is the perfect man to play journalist Beth William’s fake husband—he’s a guy and he’s willing. Beth is on the cusp of breaking a huge story about an exclusive couples-only retreat when her partner becomes ill. In walks Eric, her brother’s buddy, and a brilliant idea strikes her. This Navy SEAL, on leave nursing an injury, could step in and pose as her husband while she tries to … uncover what’s really happening at the retreat. With their story set, the two head to the tropical island, ready to do their job. It’s all business—until it isn’t. Beth hadn’t realized how difficult it was going to be pretending to be in love while not actually falling in love with this sexy man. As the two get closer to finding the truth about the resort, Beth finds herself getting unexpectedly closer to Eric. Something that wasn’t in the plan at all.
Eric agreed to Beth’s plan out of pure boredom. Why not spend some time on a tropical island with a beautiful girl, even if his buddy’s sister is completely off limits? But it doesn’t take long before he realizes something is seriously wrong with this paradise. Someone seems to be out to hurt Beth, kicking Eric’s protective instincts into high gear. Now he’s keeping Beth close for her safety even as his head warns him to keep his distance. Sure, there’s danger on the island, but the most dangerous thing may be the way his body and his heart is responding to Beth.
Thank goodness Beth reminds him that the only reason she is on the island is for her job—a job that just might kill them both…or leave their hearts in tatters if they don’t trust in each other…

Overcoming disillusionment to find a future together!
by sewsummore
Eric came into reporter Beth’s life at a time when she really needed a man she could trust. He was a team mate of her brother and a navy seal recuperating after he had been shot in the line of duty. Beth’s workmate was going to pose as her husband when they planned to investigate a suspicious character who was involved with illegal activities. Neither of them were looking to fall in love, but when Beth’s life is threatened, Eric steps up to guard her with his life. This was a quick read with plenty of action and drama as Beth faces more death threats before they get the information they need that will put the perpetrator behind bars for a very long time. I enjoyed reading about this feisty reporter and Eric, both had suffered disillusionment in the past but were able overcome this an find a future together.

Bored in a tropical paradise really?
Leslie North is one of my favorite authors and I really enjoyed this piece by her. Eric is a Navy Seal convalescing in a beautiful tropical paradise and bored out of his mind. Beth is the sister of Eric’s best friend and she needs help. To protect her Eric pretends that they are a couple. The book is full of drama and chemistry. The danger, suspense, mystery, and intrigue will get you engaged in the story. It is a really good book a great addition to the other books this author has written. You really should pick this gem up. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This book follows Eric, who is a Navy SEAL who is on medical leave, and Beth, a journalist and sister of Eric’s teammate Heath. Beth enlists Eric help undercover at a retreat to help solved relationship issues run by a man Robert Hart, whom Beth believes is using the retreats as a way to scan people out of their money.
**Spoilers**
The reader can see that Eric and Beth despite all they say about keeping it professional, they were going to end up together. It was fun reading about how Eric went above and beyond to save her not once but twice and how he as a character really grew out of the pain his father had caused him and his mother. I like that it was a Happily Ever After for those two and how Heath accepted that his sister and buddy really do care about each other. The proposal was just the sweetest, too. Props to Eric for making it special and fun for Beth, and surprising her with retiring and building a future with her. I really want to read more about their story and the babies she talks about having. I hope they do have the babies and get the family that both of them want. I hated how through most of it they were so in their heads about being together, You are happy go for it despite every thing else in life trying to get in you way. I am a romantic at heart and love when characters and people follow their hearts more so than their heads. It doesnt hurt the story its just a pet peave of mine really because i have been there and know how stupid it is. I also really liked the action of this book. it was clear with everything that Robert Hart was a bad man and I had a feeling the wifi signs and the room of computers would play into it in the end. It was a sophisticated operation for that man to create, and I can see that being very real. I am glad in the end good prevailed but it got dicey there for a while. Maybe that is what Eric and Beth needed to push them into admitting how each of them felt which is awesome and led to a really happy ending for the book. I look forward to reading more by Leslie North and really hope that Beth gets to use the really great maturnity plan. I hope there is another book about Eric and Beth and their family.

Beth and Eric were both loners and not interested in a relationship. Beth is an investigative reporter and has persuaded Eric, a Seal on medical leave and her brother’s best friend, to help her with a story. This story is well written and interesting with strong characters. Good read

Sometimes pretending leads to real life
Leslie is my favorite author as I love all her romance stories! Beth is looking around her office for a co-worker to act as her fake husband to go undercover on a couples retreat on a tropical island, when her brother’s SEAL friend, Eric shows up checking on her. Eric agrees to go on the week trip for relaxation and they quickly find themselves enjoying their couple’s playacting. Will Beth figure out what’s going on and will Eric protect Beth from the danger? You will love how it all comes together in the end!
Journalist Beth needs a fake husband now – for a big expose on a couples retreat. Her brother’s friend agrees to help her out. Eric’s a SEAL, on leave due to an injury. When an accident happens at the resort, Eric calls it as intentional. When she’s attacked by an unknown man, they know they’re onto something. Somewhere, in the middle of all the excitement, they forgot that she’s off limits. I loved this story. The characters have amazing chemistry, even as they try to deny it. There’s a Caribbean vacation resort, action, suspense, and two people falling in love. I try to not miss new books from this author – she’s become a favorite.

This story is about Beth and Eric. Beth is doing a story and in order to attend the couples retreat, she needs a husband. Eric is her brother’s friend from the seal team they both served. She propositions him to act as her husband in order to gain entrance to this couple’s retreat for a story. He agrees and the story takes off from there. Does this work out for them both is the question, or does he just do this in order to help out his buddy and protect his little sister. This book is going to hook you in from the beginning. It is a page turner with enough action to keep it going…

There’s a little bit of the Odd Couple about this pair. Eric could be the textbook definition of the strong silent type, while Beth is sometimes prone to oversharing. (Not really a good trait for an investigative journalist undercover, but interesting nonetheless.) The chemistry between these two was fascinating to watch. They both feel it but they’re also fighting hard against it to stay on the good side of Beth’s brother, Eric’s SEAL teammate and best friend. To be honest, for an investigative journalist, I thought Beth was awfully slow on the uptake. I’d figured out what the villain’s plot was fairly shortly after they arrived on the island. So, for me it was a bit of a struggle waiting for our heroes to catch up to me. I really enjoyed the ending to this story and I’m kind of hoping that we might see her brother as the hero of a future book.

I enjoyed this book. The storyline was fun and kept my attention. I liked Beth and Eric. I thought their chemistry sizzled and I loved the pull of attraction between them. Drama, danger, suspense, tension and lots of simmering emotions are added to help deliver a well rounded and very entertaining read.
Beth Williams is covering a breaking story about a couples’ retreat when her editor tells her that her partner Jeff can’t go with her since he’s in the hospital with Hepatitis A. This assignment is important to her career. Something wasn’t right with these LoveFix Couples’ Retreats. But because it was a “couples” retreat, she needed a partner and couldn’t go alone. None of her co-workers would be good – there just wasn’t any chemistry. When a sexy voice behind her asked for her, she thought her luck had changed! He was gorgeous and both of them felt a spark when they shook hands. But her overprotective brother had sent him over when he couldn’t reach her on the phone. Eric Harvey introduced himself and told her he was on the same SEAL team as her brother – that explained his physique and confidence. He chatted a little with her, then started to leave. And a brilliant idea hit her — Eric was unattached, used to undercover missions as a SEAL, and completely off-limits so no temptation. Since he was Heath’s friend, that meant Heath wouldn’t object. Yes, he was exactly what she needed as a replacement partner for Jeff.
Since Eric is healing from an injury and bored, he gladly accepts Beth’s invitation to be her fake husband in the undercover investigation. He quickly realizes Beth was right – there is something seriously wrong with this paradise. It looks like Beth is in danger, and Eric’s protective instincts go on alert. With Beth needing more distance, Eric is keeping her close to him to protect her. And he, too, is feeling an increase in his attraction to her. Will he be able to keep her safe while they search for the truth? Will she be able to keep it professional and not fall for her brother’s friend? Or should they take a chance on each other and the strong feelings they are both having?
This was a good story with likable characters and a touch of mystery. In a beautiful island paradise, how can they not fall in love? Grab your copy and see what’s in store for them.
