Eric Harvey is the perfect man to play journalist Beth William’s fake husband—he’s a guy and he’s willing. Beth is on the cusp of breaking a huge story about an exclusive couples-only retreat when her partner becomes ill. In walks Eric, her brother’s buddy, and a brilliant idea strikes her. This Navy SEAL, on leave nursing an injury, could step in and pose as her husband while she tries to … uncover what’s really happening at the retreat. With their story set, the two head to the tropical island, ready to do their job. It’s all business—until it isn’t. Beth hadn’t realized how difficult it was going to be pretending to be in love while not actually falling in love with this sexy man. As the two get closer to finding the truth about the resort, Beth finds herself getting unexpectedly closer to Eric. Something that wasn’t in the plan at all.
Eric agreed to Beth’s plan out of pure boredom. Why not spend some time on a tropical island with a beautiful girl, even if his buddy’s sister is completely off limits? But it doesn’t take long before he realizes something is seriously wrong with this paradise. Someone seems to be out to hurt Beth, kicking Eric’s protective instincts into high gear. Now he’s keeping Beth close for her safety even as his head warns him to keep his distance. Sure, there’s danger on the island, but the most dangerous thing may be the way his body and his heart is responding to Beth.
Thank goodness Beth reminds him that the only reason she is on the island is for her job—a job that just might kill them both…or leave their hearts in tatters if they don’t trust in each other…

Eric Harvey is asked by a Seal teammate to check in on his sister for him. Saying yes because he is tired of rehab for his injury. He catches Beth William, a journalist just as she lost her fake husband for an expose she has been wanting to do on exclusive only couples retreat. After apologizing to Eric she takes him to lunch and explains her dilemma. He decides to help her out.
Once arriving at the island the two of them begin to feel that something is off, especially when they begin to know more about the couples that were shared on the forms.
Something is off between them as well, and the hands-off rule that was put in place slowly begins to be taken away. See how the catch the host and if they will go from fake couple to real couple in this good story. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Pretending you are in love while going undercover on a couples retreat, what could go wrong? Beth, a reporter goes undercover on a tropical island, but gets more than she bargained for when she asks her brother’s friend Eric, a Navy Seal healing from an injury, to fill in as her partner for the retreat. Their story takes on a bit of danger, suspense, mystery, and falling in love with a smattering of steam. A story that is a winning combination for a fun and relaxing afternoon, it is the second book in the series, and a stand alone read. **I was gifted “Guarding His Pretend Wife” and leave my review voluntarily based on my reading** 4 Stars!
This is the second book in the SEAL Endgame series. This story is about Beth and Eric. Beth is a reporter, investigating a resort owner and she was supposed to attend a couple’s retreat there, but her partner got sick and she was scared she had to cancel. Eric is an ex-Navy SEAL who was shot on his last mission and is now on leave. Eric’s best friend asks him to check on his sister Beth when he couldn’t reach her. Eric was attracted to Beth but knew she was off limits to him. A complicated story, an enjoyable series.

The storyline was great and the characters were so well created that the chemistry between Beth and Eric was so sizzling HOT that I read this book in one sitting!
She is doing a story and the one who was going to go with her as a pretend husband is now ill. In steps her brother friend. He agrees because he is bored while recovering from an injury. They go but things will get dangerous and he will protect her? Who will protect his heart from her? Will they find the truth? See what will happen

Guarding His Pretend Wife is the second novel in Leslie North’s Seal Endgame series, but it is the first book in the series I’ve read, and while it was a fast-paced, one-sitting read, it was just an okay read for me, and because it easily could have been better, if left me rather unsatisfied, and for that reason, the best rating I can give it is 2.5 stars.
The plot of this novel is rather simple. Aspiring investigative journalist Beth Williams has had her reporter’s eye on the pricey and exclusive LoveFix Couples Retreat, and she senses something off about the entire operation, especially when she learns that in the space of 3 years, it’s founder has become a billionaire. She’s got her editor’s backing to go there with a fellow reporter, Jeff, posing as her fake husband, but Jeff, who, the day before they are scheduled to leave, bails out because he was diagnosed with Hepatitis A, and will be hospitalized for a least a week. Beth is bummed out because she senses that breaking this story will give her a huge career boost into the big leagues, but when her older brother, a Navy SEAL, sends one his SEAL brothers, hunky Eric Harvey, to check up on her her plan might still be saved. Eric is on medical leave after being shot in the shoulder, and Beth manages to convince him to pose as her fake husband, and they leave for the island retreat the next day. Neither Beth nor Eric wants a relationship, but they are certainly attracted to one another, and it doesn’t take long before they can’t seem to keep their hands off one another, even though Eric has issues with getting involved with his SEAL brother’s younger sister, and Beth also has issues, preferring to pursue her career over getting involved with any man after her last relationship ended when she was unwilling to give up her career, so that her fiance could pursue his own career.
Once Beth and Eric arrive on the island, they try to do some level of investigating, but, at least for this reader, they were far more interested in investigating their sexual attraction rather than seriously searching for dirt on this resort, and when they do figure it out, it’s not all that earth-shattering, and for this reader, I couldn’t see how exposing what was really happening behind the scenes on the island would be a major career boost for any journalist. It was clear from the outset that this operation was a great way to separate wealthy clients from their money, so as suspense goes, I found it lacking, just as I found Eric and Beth’s insta-lust lacking in the romance department.
If you’re looking for a quick, somewhat sexy, brother’s best friend romance, this one will probably fit the bill, but for this reader, it lacked any real character development and any real suspense, nor did I find this novel particularly well-plotted or well-written–it was a barely okay read for me.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
This was a steamy forbidden read with a fantastic storyline and amazing characters that will have you hooked from page one filled with suspense, mystery and action this book is a must read.
All Eric had to do was find out if his best friends and fellow Seal team members sister was ok and report back to him….but finds himself talked into going to a tropical island with her pretending to be her husband!!!
Beth has been investigating the couples retreat for months and her partner falling ill isnt going to stop her from finding out the truth….
When Beth and Eric arrive on the island they both sense that all is not right and while working together to solve the mystery they cant deny the attraction between them so what was supposed to be a fake marriage turns out being something more ……

This would have been a better read for me if I liked Beth. I am not a fan. She was a pill and I felt Eric could have done better.
This is a great story that sees Beth in need of a fake husband and asks her brother’s friend Eric to be that person. The two have great chemistry together and they do their best not to act on it. This is an enjoyable quick read that has suspense and action along with the romance that held my attention throughout.

I enjoyed this story I love the chemistry between the characters. The storyline was great and well developed it holds your attention from beginning until the end. The plot was nice I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Beth is a journalist on a big story however when her partner for the under cover assignment ends up in the hospital she thinks its over. Until her brother sends a friend to check up on her. Eric is on leave from the military due to an injury but when Beth proposes him as a replacement for the couples retreat he goes along with it. Once they are there its not long before he can tell something is off with the people running it. When things heat up between him and Beth he knows that he needs to call in for some back up help in case they need it. Will they make it back from the retreat safely? What will her brother say about them being together?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Beth is an investigative journalist and when she needs a husband to snoop at a couple counselling retreat she asks her brother’s SEAL friend to act as her husband.
Adventure and danger awaits them, but it brings them nearer than expected.
A nice mix of romance and mystery/crime story, well-written and entertaining.

Will it stay fake or will it become real?
Guarding His Pretend Wife is the story of Beth and Eric. She is an investigative reporter who is trying to crack a story and needs a fake husband to go to a couples retreat. Eric is a Navy SEAL who is a friend and teammate with Beth’s older brother. Eric is on leave with nothing better to do with his time so he agrees to become Beth’s fake husband. But what starts as fake soon turns more real than either of them every intended. As Beth keeps pursuing the story the danger ramps up higher and higher and Eric must protect her so they can get back alive.
This is a fun and entertaining story. You will most likely be able to guess as to what the villain is up to and has planned but it is still worth the time to read this book. As usual Leslie North does a great job of writing this story.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
It was definitely entertaining and enjoyable book.
The characters were great and chemistry between them was hot.
The storyline was interesting with twist and turns in the plot that just keep me turning pages.
The ending was sweet and cute.

Second in the series, this is an action packed story with lots of drama and issues to overcome. A recovering seal and an reporter go undercover. This is a standalone story with lots of action as well as romance.
This book will definitely keep you on your toes with all the twists, turns and sideways maneuvers throughout the story. Knowing she should be off limits since he’s best friends with her brother and fellow seal team member, he just cannot help his reaction to her. When they get to the island, his first discovery has me on edge and the more they find…or don’t find, make sure things even more shifty. This is so intense! I loved it!!!
Beth is a investigative journalist. Her partner for the story has taken ill. They had been working on this story for a long time.
A week on a tropical island is an offer Eric can’t refuse. Eric is a NAVY Seal and on leave recovering from injury.
Can Eric keep Beth safe without getting involved? Keep reading to find out more.
