For decades, he’s been alone. Now, she’s here. His fated mate. His to win. To protect. To provide for and pleasure. Betrayed by his own brother and forced to watch his clan’s brutal annihilation, Priest Rahandras has lived with the darkness trapped inside him for years. He longs to escape the curse that haunts him as both man and beast, but as long as he’s bound, rebuilding his clan is an … bound, rebuilding his clan is an impossible dream.
Until the mate he’s longed for walks into his life. She’s everything he’s wished for, and the key to the clan’s very survival.
Kateri Falsen is a woman of logic and facts. While Priest can sense her arousal, telling her they’re fated won’t be enough. He’ll have to show her his love: with his words, with his actions, and with his body.
Protecting Kateri from the evil trapped inside him is paramount. But when lost clan members are systematically murdered, he’ll have to choose between exposing his mate to his black magic, or risking her as the next victim.
Don’t miss the second book in the Ancient Ink series, Healer’s Need.

Suddenly I see
What an amazing story! This author took us into a world that is fantastical and intense. Each character is a unique individual, but is an important element of the whole. I absolutely love the way she built up the storyline and the characters. She even gave us a wonderful HEA and yet left us with a lead in for the next book. I can’t wait to read it! I can’t imagine it will be any less exciting than this one.
great story
Wham! This novel started with a bang – lots of characters and information. I dove right on in! Morgan seamlessly worked the information regarding the Volán tribe into the novel. In stops and starts, we learn about this fantastical tribe without ever having the feeling the information is merely dumped upon the reader.
I loved Priest. Too bad you can’t order one of him from some catalogue somewhere. I’d sign right up! He was everything you expect in a book boyfriend: hot, demanding, and in control but at times sweet. I loved that he never wavered in what he wanted. He wanted his mate and he set about making that happen. Swoon! Katy was okay. I didn’t see the personality traits Priest clearly loved. I feel her character could have been better developed.
Although the romance aspect takes the forefront in the novel, there is intrigue and suspense brewing in the background. I’m hoping we get more than just glimpses and foreshadowing in the next story, because the intrigue was only beginning when this story ended.
I can’t wait for Tate’s story (which is obviously up next – yeah!).
Priest and Kateri
He has the weight of his clan, his beast, and his calling on his shoulders. He’s been alone forever it seems fighting to rid himself of a dark future that could end them all; until he sees her & his hope surges anew-protecting her and them is all he can think about…
She is all realistic & logical minded, til her parents were gruesomely murdered. Being thrust into a world she truly thought was only existent in fairy tales, but is REAL & she is his fated mate….
Together, they must find a way to defeat this evil stalking them, save the clans and magic, avoiding catastrophe. Will they be able to resolve it all & to each other before it’s too late???
Great main and secondary characters, sensational storyline dynamics, making this a MUST read from me! Can’t wait for the next novel!! LOVED IT!
Awesome!!! Once again Rehenna Morgan has written an outstanding paranormal love story!! Love these characters and the original world they live in!! Cannot wait for the next installment!!

Rhenna Morgan doing up a new series? A PNR series and has a character named Priest?
Ummm…Yes. Please. *making grabby hands* Hand it over. Now. (Mind you now was when the series was announced many moons ago but I needed to make a point)
Soooo I may have followed *cough* stalked *cough* a certain site closely for it to become available and quickly clicked on that baby when it did. And though I did have to wait a bit before diving, I was not disappointed. Guardian’s Bond is a lush, vibrant, smexy, sensual start to a and all kinds of intriguing start to a new series with a bunch of characters I want more of, even the baddie.
Priest. Yup, I’d totally worship at the altar that is Priest. No questions asked. No shame. Total kowtow and be absolutely at peace with the decision. The man is the kind of Alpha AF that is calming while causing you to anticipate more, even when that more is not something you cannot put into words, but know you simply want more of. He’s kind, compassionate and has a sensuality that radiates off him without effort.
Kateri. The funny thing about Kateri is that while she did frustrate me, I totally got where she was coming from. I understood why she held back because I would more than likely do the same, at least on some level. But outside of her hesitation about certain things, she’s intelligent, fierce and sassy. She’s also protective of those she calls her own and gives as good as she gets.
Priest and Kateri’s journey is that perfect blend of insta and slow burn that has you loving how the intensity builds between them as they get to know each other, but wanting one of the to desperately pull the trigger so all that nummy sexual tension can be released because you know it will be explosive…and OMG it was. Seriously, don’t bother with panties…just don’t…and have B.O.B nearby and ready to go. The angst was low, but the push/pull was real and with all going on around them I definitely didn’t mind at all and loved where they were at in the end.
This is very much a first in series where there is a lot of world building information being doled out, but it’s done in such a way that it didn’t feel like a full on information dump, it’s more of a learn as you go situation. This does keep the pace of the story at moderate one, but I never felt as if it dragged. I actually liked it because I could absorb all the little details without feeling overwhelmed and found the world simple, yet plausible and intriguing. The characters are all distinct and well written, and I have made it known that certain ones are not to come to harm *BSEG*. And with how things were left at the end of the book, not only with the whole baddie sitch, but that little tease of what’s to come next, I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!

Guardian’s Bond by Rhenna Morgan is the First book in the Ancient Ink series. This is the story of Eerikki ‘Priest’ Rahandras and Kateri Falsen.
Priest has been longing to find him mate for 77 years and thinking that he might never meet her. But when his old friend Naomi comes forward she brings her adult grandchild with her…one being Kateri. As soon as Priest lays eyes on her his cougar knows she is his and doesn’t want anyone to touch her or take her from him. Kateri and her brother just lost their father and didn’t really know about this mysterious world that Naomi and Priest are so familiar with…nor the powers that it brings.
Wow…this book did not disappoint with excitement and hot alpha male wanting to claim his mate but at the same time dealing with showing his true self.
This was an awesome introduction to a new series! I loved the details, all the different dynamics, and this excellent story of Priest and Kateri coming together. A truly great read!
Wow! Guardian’s Bond is a totally different take on a PNR world with various shifters. I’m a huge fan of Ms. Morgan’s contemporary romance series, ‘Men of Haven’, plus I’m an avid fan of almost every new contemporary shifter book that I’ve read. I was looking forward to this 1st new book, and can honestly say I was not disappointed, even tho it took me a while to figure out many things and understand the differences. But the more I read, the more I caught on & really liked it 😀 The storyline is unique, the characters are awesome, and the dialogue is witty. I especially loved the slower building romance between the H/h (Priest & Katy) who are total opposites, yet fated mates. But then make sure to wear gloves, coz your e-reader may overheat from their smoking hot interludes 😉 This magical, romantic, suspense must read will keep readers engaged & turning pages! I highly recommend this book to all 18+ adult fans of fiction, and I can’t wait for book 2 or any books by this author!
Guardian’s Bond by Rhenna Morgan
Paranormal romance that is not the same old same old…nope…this one has the themes of many but is also different. With quests to be made, soul mates to be wooed, evil to thwart and magic aplenty this steamy story kept me reading and left me eager to read the next book in the series when it comes out.
Priest knows who he is and does his job well. He is there for those under his care and never misses a quest. He also knows that Kateri is his mate as soon as he sees her…wooing her is something he does and does well (fanning myself). Kateri and her brother Alek may be skeptical of magic and the idea of another group of people that they could become part of but soon their skepticism becomes belief and they are all in.
This was a delightful tale that hooked me quickly and kept me engaged. I loved all the alpha males and the strong women. I loved the way shifter aspects of a person were revealed and am eager to find out more about the backstory, mythology and how this story will unfold so that good can thwart evil.
Thank you to NetGalley, Carina and Barclay Publicity for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4.5 Stars
As the High Priest of his clan, Priest has some of all the gifts his people control. After a showdown with his brother, he is left with a darkness that threatens to consume him. Struggling to rebuild his clan, the last thing on his mind is finding his mate. However, the moment he comes face to face with Kateri he recognizes her for what she is and he will do anything to make her his.
Katy grew up without knowledge of her birth right. After the brutal death of her parents she learns of the mystical world that exists and is hers to one day accept or deny. She was raised to always take the path with the most logic. The decisions she has made for her life were compelled by not her own longing but that that had been forced upon her. Now she is faced with a decision to accept Priest as her mate as well as the magic that could be hers.
I loved these characters so much! Priest is the perfect protective hero of not only his heroine but of his people. Even as he worries that his darkness will consume him he yields to the light that he finds with Katy. Katy had no reason to trust in this new world she had just learned of. It makes no sense even if she has seen it with her own eyes. Learning to accept it demanded acceptance of who and what she was and I enjoyed the journey she traveled to find her truth.
This was a well written, fast paced read that has a little different slant on most shifter books I’ve read in the past. I enjoyed the world building as the author laid out layer upon layer of foundation for not only this story but for further books in this series. The characters are fully developed and secondary characters added to the overall depth of the story without stealing from the hero and heroine. The ending is a happy for now with a set up for the next couple.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by Netgalley and Carina Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Dual POV
Safe – no ow/om drama
No apparent triggers
I liked the main H and h. Kateri was all about facts and tangible proof where as Priest was all about faith and trust. As they say, opposites attract and these two provided some entertaining fireworks! Their romance had a sexy vibe that was highly charged and easily combustible..and I’m just sayin you may want a fan:) The side characters were amusing-Kateri’s Nana is my favorite because she lays it out there and tells you like it is-and I’m curious to see who meets their “mate” next.
Overall, this was a good read. Guardian’s Bond is the first book in the Ancient Ink series and I think things are off to a good start. Establishing backgrounds, histories, and characters did cause some slow moments, but zippy lines and sexy innuendos kept things moving along at a decent pace. The setting is fun, the characters entertaining, and the romance was spicy! Definitely looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book.
This is a wonderful read and a great start to the Ancient Ink series. A engaging storyline, involving plot, and complex characters are blended into a unique world to create an entertaining book. With plenty of drama, heat, danger, romance, passion, sweetness and emotions to easily grab and keep your interest. Kateri is strong, smart, feisty and extremely capable but she has also been raised to be completely clueless about who and what she is. Priest is also strong, a fighter, a defender of his people, and an alpha male that is possessed by darkness. They are fated mates but Priest has his work cut out for him in proving it to Kateri. These two are just so perfect together. Every scene between them slowly builds on their initial attraction finally leading to that once in a lifetime love you just knew that they were destined for. What an amazing book! I just adored this shifter romance and I can’t wait to see what happens in future books in this series. I am posting a totally honest, voluntary review after reading a copy of this book.
Priest has many responsibilities in his life both as a tattoo artist and as the leader of his mystical clan. He looks like a rock star with long black hair flowing past his shoulders, beautiful and intricate tattoos, and a sexy and sensuous body that would make any woman deliriously happy. He has many clients who come to him for his original and detailed tattoos that he painstakingly applies with passion and reverence. He also uses his tattoo expertise to create designs that protect his clan members from the darkness that exists in his world. He has been alone for many years but he is still without someone to share it with; his one true mate. Once he found her he would protect her and keep her safe forever, always by his side.
Kateri and her brother Alek were brought up with no knowledge of their magical powers but when tragedy struck their lives, their Aunt took them to see Priest for training and protection. Prior to this, she was pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science where everything is scientific, logical and explainable. When she crossed the threshold into Priest’s tattoo shop she felt him before she saw him, and his commanding presence did not frighten her. She was actually fascinated by him and his intense, dark gaze had her wondering what he was thinking As they shook hands, time stood still and when she accidentally touched his chest, a purring sound rolled up through his body. Kateri had no idea how to react to what had just happened and as she was led away by her brother, Priest, whose eyes were locked on her growled, “She’s mine.”
Will Priest be strong enough to extinguish the darkness that lurks in his soul? And can he keep Kateri safe from the evil that is coming their way?
How will Kateri respond to Priest’s affirmation of possession? Will she return his feelings and accept what comes with her new life?
Rhenna Morgan has given us another winner in “Guardian’s Bond,” the first book in her new Ancient Ink series. Priest is an alpha warrior who is fighting for the survival of his clan while searching for his soulmate, who he found in Kateri. As with all of Rhenna’s books, it is necessary to read every word, sentence and paragraph to fully appreciate her brilliant writing style. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series, “Healer’s Need.”
More steam than storyline. When the author zeroed in on the story it was action packed. It seemed to start in the middle like there was a part one.
Original review: https://myshelfbooks.wordpress.com/2018/04/21/guardians-bond-rhenna-morgan/
My first Romance book was a paranormal one. The Paranormal Romance subgenre will always have a special place in my shelves, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to like anything that is out there. This book is the perfect example of things I do not like. I actually feel a bit robbed after finishing it… Truth be told, I’m not a fan of shifters. They are usually the kind of alpha I dislike… and Priest, the main character of this book, is the poster boy of that :(. But I can always be surprised, so I picked it to see how right or wrong I was.
This book is about the lonely Priest, the fierce alpha and high priest of a clan of shifters. Alone until he meets Kateri, his fated mate. Yes, this book doesn’t ignore the classic ultimate love by fate. Actually, the book is only about that… There are mentions of a plot about finding the clan primos, that are being killed one by one by Priest’s evil brother; but nothing major in the book. Like 5 pages or so… Yes, I know… the blurb makes you think that part is going to be a big chunk of the book. But not at all. Very, VERY disappointing.
I could have forgiven that fact if the romance part would have been better. Or good. Or decent. But it’s pretty boring and made me uneasy now and then. The book didn’t took the right path from the very beginning. As soon as Priest meets Kateri, he grabbed her and tried to kiss her. No “Hello” or “Good morning” or “How are you?”… nothing polite. Pure possession. Being the shifter a total stranger, I can only applaud Alek (Kateri’s brother) for his behaviour. He removes his sister from the man without any concept of boundaries or any kind of respect towards Kateri. I thought that was the normal thing to do when facing something like that, but the author wants us to believe that Alek was a jerk and his actions were crazy… Really??? So annoying!!
But, of course, being Priest the hero he gets the lady pretty fast. Much faster than I would like. The so-called love between them is totally unrealistic and I’m haveing a very hard time believing it. I don’t believe it at all, actually. That is bad, but it’s not horrible. Horrible are some comments Priest does along the way. Moments before having sex with Kateri, they are discussing about using contraceptives. The shifters explains that their kind cannot get any disease (no problem with that), but his mate doesn’t want to get pregnant. In that moment Priest laughs and bluntly tells her that the decission of having offspring would be taken by him. A totally unilateral decission. What the F**K?? I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I couldn’t believe that Kateri didn’t say anything or tried to get away!! I know Rhenna wanted to create the ultimate dominant alpha, but she goes too far… The whole deal is so upsetting :(.
So, almost no story and the main characters are the worst. Not a good mixed… not at all. Too bad, because I think the author does something great with this book. Even more than great. I actually loved how she has reimagined all the lore of shifters adding a lot of magic. The soul quest. The animal companion being granted by a mystical being. That animal companion is not genetic, so a wolf and a tiger can have a hawk son. It’s wild. And I love it. The four houses (warrior, seer, healer and sorcerer) are also a nice touch. An amazing setting for a really crappy story.
I don’t know if I’m going to read the next book. I guess I will give this saga another chance if I have time. I just hope with all my heart that Tate is nowhere close to Priest. Otherwise, I’m afraid it was going to be the same annoying alpha all over again.
I can’t put into words how amazing this book is. Rhenna has blown my mind with this book. I wasn’t sure I was going to like it but one chapter in I fell in love with it. Kateri and Priest, they are not your typical couple in this book. This is one paranormal romance that I need more of immediately.
