Enjoyed this suspenseful story about a mother’s love for her children and a man’s dedication to protecting them.
A twisted, action-packed tale with charming characters in the middle of perilous, potentially lethal situations delivers a captivating story that I couldn’t put down.
It is no secret that I love Laura Scott’s style of writing. Her ability to tell a story where intense suspense and heartwarming romance enchant the mind, endearing characters win the hearts over, and their unwavering faith in God inspires.
It has been a few books ago when I read the first book in the series, yet as soon as I started to read this one, the previous events came rushing to my mind, and I was eager to find out what’s going on.
The connection between Ryker Tillman and Olivia Habush was sweet, believable, and natural, so tender – fragile even – as she is pregnant with her late husband’s baby, I got all the warm and snuggly feels from them. How Ryker interacted with Olivia’s kid, how the bond and trust was formed, it was all a testament to Ryker’s good character, to his distinction and decency despite his doubts.
A fabulous faith-based romantic suspense story that easily could be read as a standalone book, yet is volume two in a series that I can highly recommend!
~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
I really enjoyed this Love Inspired Suspenseful romance. and I voluntarily chose to review this story. I’ve given it a 5* rating. The soldier was still in morning from losing his girlfriend and child while he was serving his country overseas. The heroine is morning the death of her husband and a lot of other things he created in their lives. Now she is on the run, trying to protect the rest of her family. The soldier is trying to protect her but got more than he expected. This story pulled me in from the beginning and kept tugging at my heartstrings throughout. This is a clean read except for some violence.
This second book in the Justice Seekers series, is a clean suspense romance that will keep you on the edge of your seats from the first page to the last.
Olivia’s deceased husband had changed to a man that was greedy, and uncaring once he returned from the war. Now working as a mercenary, his job, not his family became his first concern. When he’s killed and his former employees come after her, she flees with her son. A difficult feat since she is also pregnant.
Six months later, she continues to be in danger and clueless as to why the evil men are after her.
Unbeknown to her, Ryker was partly responsible for her husband’s death . He’s been keeping an eye on her and when he sees the danger is increasing, he makes it his duty to keep her safe.
While running from the men, feelings develop but one believes he’s there just as duty, while the other believes Olivia’s feelings are because he has rescued her more than once.
This is a touching story , with an engaging plot, bad guys, good guys , and complex characters, that will keep you wanting a HEA ending for Olivia and Ryker. But will they survived the danger and the bullets?
Can’t wait to see what else the author has in store for us.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Harlequin. The opinions expressed are solely my own.e
I love suspense and Laura Scott dishes out a lot in this story. A pregnant woman with a toddler running from a group bent on ending her life, throw in an ex soldier intent on keeping her safe and you have a fast paced, action fueled story. Nicely done.
*My thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion here is my own.
Who is Olivia? Who is Ryder? What has Olivia grabbing her son and hiding in a bathroom? Where is she? We get to see most of the Callahan men in this suspenseful romance. There was a lot of mystery behind what was happening to Olivia. Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? I was shocked in some cases! As more of the story becomes clear, I get angry at Tim and Craig. Why? Then I have to add Seth and Tony into that equation. Read and see why I am angry at these four and what happens!

This is so intense, my heart racing from the get go and it keeps going until the end, I finally can breathe easily in the epilogue.
It’s a fast-paced suspense read with a lot of actions, there’s romance but it’s only a small portion, the suspense is the main attraction here. A woman on the run with a toddler and her unborn baby, thank goodness there’s Ryker to help and protect them from the bad guys. Yup there’s a lot of actions, mystery and suspense that makes this book can be devoured easily in one sitting, a bit sweetness that put a smile on my face, so for me it’s definitely a MUST-READ for anyone who’s looking for a fast-paced suspense romance read.
Ryker Tillman was willing to give his life for his country in Afghanistan. Now, with his own security country, he is willing to lay down his life for the lives of pregnant Olivia Habush and her toddler son Aaron. Olivia knew that her husband was working for some really bad guys, but she had no idea that after Tim died, his legacy would mean danger for her and Aaron. Pursued by the relentless killers from Blake-Moore, Olivia has nowhere to turn until Ryker shows up and rescues her. All of the action was like a movie rolling in my head, with one heart-stopping scene after another. Ryker called in his buddies from the war, the Callahans and Duncan. They offer a little comic relief and a lot of help to Ryker and Olivia. Throughout the book, no sooner do she and Aaron get out of danger than a fresh group of mercenaries would show up to force her to give them something that supposedly Tim left with her. The ride through this book was wild and fast-paced, but best of all, it was all a totally clean ride, with no expletives or graphically described violence. My only criticism is that the book was such a fast read that I was surprised when it ended. That’s not to say that I didn’t like the conclusion; I just didn’t want it to end!
