Sunny, eccentric Kindergarten teacher Jewel knows how to charm the typical private school parent. Vince, however, is the only one whose outward stubbornness provokes in her a nearly uncontrollable desire to stroke his beard, squeeze his dad bod and stare at him while he watches Burt Reynolds movies. Hey, whatever works to get more help for the PTA bake sale … Vince really wishes people would … people would leave him alone. For the most part, they oblige. So why does a gorgeous, relentlessly upbeat Kindergarten teacher keep trying to include him in all this bougie PTA rigmarole? But … if all this nonsense will help five-year-old Max fit in at this fancy school, fine. Just this once, he’ll help; and then everybody’d better leave him alone.
This book is intended for adults ages 18 and up, due to graphic sexual content and language.

Great read!!!
This is a fantastic story, with puns galore. It will have you laughing all the way through, plus it’s one heck of a great read and I highly recommend it!
This is by far my favorite Abby Knox book. That’s saying a lot because I love her books.
I loved this couple. Vince isn’t the perfect 6 pack abs kind of guy. He has the slightly dad bod. Jewel is so quirky and funny. Always full of puns and of course Vince doesn’t care for puns. Until Jewl come bouncing in his life.
I laughed so hard with this book. I also cried some. I highly recommend this book.
I read an advanced copy of this book.
Grumpy Dad is probably my favorite so far in the Greenbridge Academy series.
Vince is the epitome of Hopper from Stranger Things (which makes sense since that’s who she was going for). He’s been jaded by his job, doesn’t seem to have much to smile about in life, and also doesn’t give two shits what anyone thinks about him. His new role as a single father is definitely testing him in ways that he’s never experienced before. But he soon finds a ray of sunshine in his life when he meets his son’s kindergarten teacher.
When it comes to Jewel, Vince will do whatever it takes to make this sunny teach shine her rays of light on him.
Absolutely loved Jewel and Vince. I love when we get to read about male characters who aren’t “model” looking (although there’s nothing wrong with them).
Ohhh.. I must say, how I love this series! Talk about a Grumpy Dad, Vince is a real hero.
Jewel is a kindergarten teacher at a prestigious school, she’s all about positivity and putting your best foot forward no matter what. So when she has a hard time winning a student over she decides it time to call home. What she never expects is to find the handsome Vince.
Vince is starting fresh in a new town trying desperately to build a new life for Max the kindergartner whom he’s trying to adopt. That all changes the day Max’s teacher calls him, one look at Jewel and he knows she’s meant for him.
I adored this book. I was completely and utterly in love with all the characters, I never wanted it to end!! Great story, definitely 5 star worthy.
I loved how real and multi-faceted these characters were and the chemistry between them. The funny lines took me by surprise. I almost died when the hero says: The fuck is Tempeh? (extra funny because of being vegetarian) He was just a real guy, in touch with his flaws and doing his best. And the heroine: perfect kindergarten teacher with a really dirty side. Definitely a re-read.
Abby, Abby, Abby! This is by far my favorite book by you! I LOVED quirky Jewel and all her particularities. As a Year 1/Kindergarten teacher at a private school, I found your portrayal of her to be spot on and can I say I loved the superhero theme . But by far my favorite thing about this book was Vince. I never thought I’d find the description of a man’s jeans and his bulbous backside and thick, masculine thighs such a turn on but there you have it – you made a dad bod a bloody turn on and my overactive imagination thanks you. Book 2 of your Greenbridge Academy Series is a definite must read and has me excited to see what you’ll come up with next.
These two are as different as night and day. He’s a man of few words, not a fan of people and just wants to be left alone. She’s bubbly, chirpy and talks to much. But when these two come together, what they say is true; opposites attract. And their heat is off the charts!
I received an Advance Reader Copy of the book and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Grumpy Dad has a fairly interesting set up – brand new (single) foster dad of a traumatized kindergartner and the incessantly chipper kindergarten teacher (with a tragic past) fall in insta-lust which grows in to love. This was actually a bit of a slow burn (or as much as it could be at this length), and while I didn’t find anything wrong with the story/plot/characters, there wasn’t anything particularly compelling about it either. I think the heroine’s perkiness was meant to foil the hero’s grumpiness so that they balanced each other out, but it didn’t quite work out that way so their personalities came off as a bit heavy handed and in your face. We never really got a good explanation as to why Vince is so grumpy and the few issues that come up in the plot are conveniently and non descriptively resolved by a mysterious benefactor (who I think is the lead in the next book of the series, so maybe we’ll get some answers there). I still want to go back and read the first book in the series, Swim Coach, and will probably read the next, but Grumpy Dad was just a bit middle of the road for me. 2.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
