A faded farmhouse, a devoted dog. One special season.Melinda is already at a crossroads when the “for rent” sign beckons her down a dusty gravel lane. Growing Season is the perfect light summer read. I love stories about small towns and strong communities. The kind where you settle in on your front porch and feel like you could fit right in with them. Growing Season is that kind of story. It can be overwhelming living in this chaotic, overly busy world. Growing Season will take you to a friendly place, where life moves at a slower place and people keep things simple. The characters are charming, and I’m pleased to note that this novel is the first in a series, so I can spend some more time with them.
I liked this book, it was a quick read…I normally read mysteries and this book was a nice change without being too schmaltzy. Good believable characters. I will read more books by this author.
This book perfectly captures rural farm life. (In New England, for me) A solid old farmhouse and barn with a dog, chickens, sheep and barn cats. A country store, the hub of the tiny town. Solid, sensible characters who pull together like family when times are tough. Loved it!
A story about finding a new path in life.
This series appealed to me. It is a glimpse into the life and characters living in small-town rural Iowa. Homey.
Wonderful small town story.
Small Town
Melinda had been working Minneapolis a an advertising agency & along with 26 other co workers get laid off. She is lost but then her uncle has a heart attack & they need help at the family hardware store. She ends up renting a place that comes with a few animals. What she learns is so much more.
Interesting story
Melinda has to start living out of her comfort zone. She moves home to help out with her family after being downsized at work. Entertaining & funny, sad at times but she has new discoveries that make her change & grow. Loved the story & will definitely read more books by this author.
I really liked this story of an ad woman going back to a simple life and finding it irresistible.
As I read each page I could smell the air, feel the sun, taste the food and really put myself in the small town. It was not the predictable woman encounters problem, solves problem and finds love story. I could imagine seeing the wallpaper, the cobwebs and feeling the warmth of the neighbors. Many thanks for a great read!
I did enjoy the characters but I felt there was too much minutiae and the story didn’t seem to be going anywhere.
Good story, pleasant reading material
Easy, fun book with great characters.
I loved everything about this book

LOved it looking forward to the next in the series
I enjoyed Melinda’s journey so much I had to read the sequel to see what her next step was!
Took me back to my childhood.
This was a pleasant book. The plot was simple and ending predictable. Easy reading.
