Griff: I learned early on that the easiest way to avoid a broken heart is to always be the first out the door. Caring about anyone or anything is asking to be disappointed, which is why I avoid relationships and chase freelance gigs — ghost writing restaurant reviews and penning articles about the efficacy of cheesy pick up lines — instead of chasing my dreams.Besides, dreams don’t come true for … come true for people like me. And no one, not even the sexy-as-hell bartender at the club can convince me otherwise. Because I’m never risking my heart again.
Sam: As a bartender I’ve watched a million pick-up artists work their magic, but none as talented as Griffin Marian. He’s a flirt, a good time. Hooking up with him was supposed to be just a fling. I wasn’t supposed to care abut his fractured past or his buried dreams. I have my own future to worry about, especially after that stupid food critic scuttled my hopes of finally opening my own restaurant.
But, the more time I spend with Griff, the more I’m beginning to realize that my plans mean nothing without him. If only I can convince him to give us a chance to follow our dreams together.
Fair warning: this book includes flirty sweetness, detailed descriptions of man parts touching, and the dirtiest thing to come out of Aunt Tilly’s mouth yet.
Grounding Griffin is the fourth book in the best-selling Made Marian series. It can be read on its own but is much more fun read as part of the series. The series begins with Borrowing Blue and each book follows a Marian brother’s search for his HEA.

Oh the feels in this book – one minute I was laughing, the next I was swooning, then gasping, and then I was crying. The way the main characters’ growing feelings for each other were portrayed while they were also trying desperately to sit with the feelings and not run – it was palpable and heart warming. I could feel their inner turmoil, their joy and their fear. Griffin Marian is a freelance writer. He’s also gay and was adopted by the Marian family after living on the streets. Sam Coxwell is a trained chef who is currently working as a bartender at a gay bar. They meet when Griffin is collecting raw material for a humorous story but just looks like he is a lazy pickup artist. He’s doing it at the bar where Sam works and so starts the beautiful dance toward their HEA. There is a lot of past stuff that they both have to unpack on the way and this is portrayed perfectly with witty dialogue, characters with depth, and an engaging storyline. This was a swoony, hilarious, fun, sweet, steamy, heart warming story with low angst. I am still adoring this loving, quirky family and I am excited to read about the next Marion sibling.
Steamy and warm with plenty of emotional turmoil to engage the reader. Griffin is a fun character and this book shows all his wonderful sides.
TW: Sexual assault
I really enjoyed this book. It was steamy and fluffy.
I liked the characters. Sam was so understanding and hot **s f*ck. Griffin was being himself, I did like him but he kept repeating the same mistakes.
A writer with cheesy pick up lines & a chef/ bartender meet in a bar..
If you haven’t read the Made Marian series from the beginning, now’s the time to start. The crazy Marian clan is out in full force. The trio of old ladies are just as foul- mouthed & unfiltered as ever. This episode features adopted son Griffin, trying to research an article on cheesy pick up lines & endearing names. Sam is a chef turned bartender who watches Griff with growing worry and growing lust. Once they clear the air, things get intense quickly & only get hotter as time progresses. Join Griff & Sam as they find their dreams, and their way to HEA. There is family angst, past heartaches, and the realization that the family you need sometimes chooses you. You will laugh, ache, and cheer. In short, you will love this book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Every time I don’t think I can love this family more…I find out that I do. I had already read Nico’s story in the Wilde series so I kind of knew how this one ended but, seeing them come together, despite some serious mis-steps and pitfalls was truly a beautiful thing. Setting aside your fears in order to chase your future takes strength but sometimes that strength comes from being loved unconditionally and allowing people to be there for you and not running.
It was a beautiful story to see Griff Marian, the man who kept his heart in a cage when it came to relationships fall in love with Sam the chef who he accidentally got fired. Sam was such a strong partner for Griff which is what he needed to help him realize not everyone would leave. This was another excellent addition to this series!
Loved this book so much! Griffin I think is my favorite Marian!
