A grizzly who’s out to find a perfect queen.
A shy tabloid writer with a dark secret.
Throw in a meddling ghost, a town full of bear shifters, and a vacation in a gothic mansion and what could go wrong?
Grizzwold Rochester Ambustus is a rock god (or on his way to becoming one)—and the future king of the Grizzly tribe. He’s also world-weary and determined to find a queen who is as angelic and … angelic and pure as can be.
Esly Ryan is a witch—she’s just not a good one. Good thing this shy bookworm has a day job that keeps her in shifter romances and puts a roof over her head. While Esly may spend her days spinning tales of happily ever after, her own HEA doesn’t seem to be in the cards.
She’s got a secret.
One so dark that, when she finally meets the king she’s waited her whole life for, it might remind him that she’s not the angel he seeks. She’s the madness he despises.
Note: The second book in the Shifter Kings L.A. series is not short, but it is sweet, sassy, sexy, shift-tastic, and a whole lot of Rock ‘n’ Roll … with a little Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester thrown in.

The title sure says it all I had a great time and was highly entertaining with each turn of the page. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end with plenty of chemistry throughout the pages.

Met Grizz in “Eagle” (book 1) a singer in a band, managed by his “brother” Eagle. He does cover versions of other people’s songs. But he has a secret, he writes his own stuff (but finds it too personal to publish) he’s happy where he is, he gets to be who he wants, and in thirty days time, he’ll become King of the Grizzly bears.
Esly is a cousin to Elizabeth, (who was heroine in book 1) she loves to read, she loves her books. A romantic at heart, but will that transfer it’s self to writing a book? No it won’t, she can write her blog with no problem, an article for the paper she works at, not an issue, but the artist in her that needs to write a love story has so far evaded her!
He’s been having dreams for the last five years of a ghost called Jane. One week a year, but each year it becomes more and more intense. He is convinced if he can find out about the ghost, he can find the real person after Jane told him she’s a witch and she can astral project.
He is convinced he is in love with her he wants to make her his queen. But he can’t live with a ghost, he needs to find a living person.
But how in the hell can you find her when he doesn’t know who she is?
Her whole life she feels something is missing, she’s got a mental block, something in her past was terrible, so it’s been blocked, but she know something happened. And the scary thing…. she loses time! Sometimes it’s an hour, and sometimes it can last a whole day! Where she goes and what she does Elsy has no idea, but her vault at home holds all those secrets!!
I liked the first book in this series “Eagle” but I loved this one.
Elsy is two sided, although she thinks herself as a dark person and tries her hardest to be light, I see her as light.
Yes she has a secret, yes she tries to keep her family happy, but she has a hidden strength.
Does she find out who she really is? Will she find out why she loses time? You’ll need to read to find out.
Grizz is my favourite character, he knows his potential, he’s just scared to put it out there. Being adopted into the eagle clan, he gained a family, but with physical and mental abuse from the eagle king, it made him turn in on himself.
Loved the idea of falling for a ghost, and had a laugh out moment when they meet in the flesh!
Superbly written, told from both points of view, the author gets the angst and passion across really well.
Like the idea of knowing you’ve got only thirty days once your tattoo darkens you finding your Queen. The faded marks on the female is good, most supernaturals know what the mark stands for, but in Elsy’s case she thinks it’s just a birthmark.
Can’t wait to read the next book “Heavy”, and hoping note books are in the pipeline.
Highly recommend this book.
I loved the story of Grizz and Esly. This story was unique to the rest of the series and full of suspense, drama, healing and of course, romance. It has quite a good head of steam!! Esly has been deceived, lovingly, by her adopted family, for her protection. Esly must bring together her past and present to become whole. Grizz and Esly both need to heal from their childhood and take their rightful place as the n King and Queen of the bears. Will they be able to overcome? Read the story and you won’t regret it!! The entire series is fabulous!
The great character and plot development kept me totally glued to my kindle throughout the entire book! I look forward to reading more from this author!
Grizz is the bear shifter king and he’s searching for his queen. He knows who he wants but is only able to find her once a year, in her dreams. Esley is a bad witch. She tries, but everything comes very hard for her and she still has occasional fugue states that worry her family. The only time both Grizz and Esley feel content is their yearly week at Rochester Manor. When they finally meet everything comes to a head. These two are a wonderful couple and their story kept me hooked from beginning to end. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.

An enjoyable fast pace book two in the Shifter Kings LA series and it is an amazing read! The story line is well written, fast pace, witty, well-developed, emotionally deep, funny, and steamy. The characters are unique and likeable; their chemistry is potent, instant, and off the charts! Definitely recommended!

Grizz is next in line to be the King of the Grizzly Tribe but he needs a Queen first and has thirty days to find her. Esly (future Queen) is a witch with a secret. This is a well written shifter romance with great characters who go through so much to get their well deserved HEA.
This is Book 2 in the Shifter Kings LA Series. This was such a good book! I love reading this series because it’s always got a fun story to read. Grizz is a rock star, sort of, and the future King of the Grizzly tribe. Esly is a witch, well, sort of one. She’s also a writer. And she thinks she’s crazy. There’s a ghost or two thrown into the mix, too. Also, a mean Queen who may bite off more than she can chew! I loved this book and can’t wait until the next story comes out. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Booksprout.
Another enjoyable shifter read by Holly Gun. Fast paced with a unique twist on finding your mate, “broken” witches and shifters, hidden talents, and what really makes a family.
The author has certainly been creating a paranormal world that is completely fresh and different. In this one, “dabbler witch”, Esly, and Grizzly shifter, Grizz, are up to bat. But each has some secrets that they aren’t willing to share, with anyone. Can this King, and future Queen, overcome their obstacles and roadblocks? It’s difficult to start a new life together with broken pieces of the past, and family that hasn’t been truthful.
There are a few editing issues with typos and grammatical errors. But, it wasn’t enough to throw me off the read. I do think the author tried to throw a bit too much into this one, making it seem just a little rushed, especially at the end when Esly has to deal with her family. It was rather too much of an abrupt wrap up to really gain the needed closure.
Despite that, I did enjoy the story, and it fits well into the existing storyline. Give it a read, you’ll like it.
I am going to start by saying that I just loved the name of Grizzwold Rochester Ambustus, who is better known as Grizz, and is the future king of the grizzly tribe! Holly, your imagination was working overtime to have come up with that! It actually suited him! I also liked how Esly was a witch, but she lacked the skill necessary to be a good one. The storyline for this book was different than the other books in the Shifter Kings series so it was really easy to get wrapped up in the suspense and drama and not just stay focused on the romance. Never fear, it still had plenty of steam though and they get the HEA we primarily read these books for anyway! I. Loved. It. and give it Five Fabulous Stars!!

I’ve thought a bit about what to write, it wasn’t that easy, and not because I have anything to criticize. This book was a great read, the characters and story keep me glued to the pages. I can Hardly go into specifics, out of fear of spoiling the story and the twist, that I honestly did not see coming. Suffice to say I loved the characters (I must admit I have a soft spot for bear shifters) and the plot. The shifter Kings just keep getting better. If you haven’t yet, read the kings of Nashville as well. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the rest of the LA Kings.

She thought she was a defective witch, He was the next king of the Grizzleys, she really was the lost Queen and Heir of the Fairax line.
this story is filled with emotion, some light, some deep and troubled. some steam, but also plenty of love. be it from their families or each other. It was an amazing read and a wonderful addition to this series

Loved Grizz and Esly’s story
Grizz is more than a.little broken. He along with his best friends and band mates are to be the next Kings of LA. They plan to make big changes for their people. His adopted brother Eagle has already found his queen. He, Heavy and Snake have less.than 30 days to find theirs. First he is heading to the home he inherited and an small bear clan who are like family for the 4th of July week.
Esly Ryan was adopted at age 11, after spending 7 years in care. She adores her dabbler witch mother and her grizzly bear father,.and her big extended family. She is broken. A dabbler witch with no real power, except for the ability to.project, has no memory of her adventures. Frightening episodes where she slips.into a catatonic state that can last hours.
At 20 she found a place that felt like home. A B&B where she spent her birthday, and has gone.their every year since. Over the past 5 years the people in town have.become like a family to her. Then their is the ghost who tells her stories.
When Grizz meets Esly he knows she is his Queen. He also knows that have a shared history that she has no memory of, and he knows her as Jane, but he has never seen her only felt her projection.
Grizz gets to know Esly, hoping the pull between will trigger her memory. Their mating incomplete. When the current King.and Queen show up Esly’s past is revealed. Her family comes together to see her through. Esly will have.to fight to claim her place as queen.
Fast paced and steamy dark romance. Love Izzy and Esly’s family. Can’t wait for Heavy and Snakes stories
Slow start; great finish.
First, I hate when authors hide stuff from the reader. She spends the first 1/4 of the book calling it “my condition”. No one thinks in terms like that unless you’re talking pregnancy! People refer to their conditions by name. I also hated that it took until 37% of the book before the couple actually met. This start was so slow that I really doubted a time or two if I wanted to finish the story or not. Once Grizz and Esly finally met, I thought the rest of the book was beyond amazing, but that slow start was almost a stopping point for me. I, typically, hate flash-backs, but in this case, it was quick and served a much needed purpose. I love the (what I believe to be, anyway) tease to Snake’s story, and am looking forward to reading Heavy and Henry’s story next.
A broken witch, pasts that they don’t want to share, but an undeniable connection that’s hard to resist, I enjoyed Esly and Grizz so much. The story flows so well that I didn’t notice I was almost done until the end. There are moments that may have you crying, I did. But the end result is so good that I can’t even be upset.

Sometimes a good defense is to hide. Grizzwold, rock god looking for his perfect queen. Esly, is a being with an unknown condition, who thinks she’s a witch. Grizz and Esly each have dark secrets which they are not willing to share. Their courtship is complicated by a darkness that oozes under their skin, felt but unknown. They are lucky they have friends and families who stand with them. Nice story. Intense. Will Esly/Jane find her balance? Will she uncover her secret? Will Grizz be wise enough, strong enough to support Esly? Nicely done. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book two in the Shifter Kings L.A. series. Another great story for this series,I loved reading about Grizz and Esly. These two are very different people, Grizz is a rock God and Esly is a bookworm. There is alot going on in this story and it keeps you hooked. All roads are not the same or are smooth and easy but of it’s meant to be, somehow it will all work out. Enjoy!

Grizz is the next King of the bears when/if he can find his queen within 30 days. Esly survived the murder of her family from the current king and queen. She was hidden from everyone and buried her bear way underneath. Every year she goes to a mansion for a week and if feels like home but she can’t figure out why. People are so friendly and kind and she can’t figure out why. Will Grizz find his queen, Esly, before his time is up? Good story. I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I read the last page.
