“The story reads like a movie . . powerful and intoxicating … and sinfully sexy. GRIP has everything—dynamic characters, soulful plot, and a lesson at the end that change the way you look at life. One of my favorite reads this year. Maybe ever. 5 massive, gripping stars from me!” — Adriana Lock, USA Today Bestselling AuthorResisting an irresistible force wears you down and turns you out.I know. out.
I know.
I’ve been doing it for years.
I may not have a musical gift of my own, but I’ve got a nose for talent and an eye for the extraordinary.
And Marlon James – Grip to his fans – is nothing short of extraordinary.
Years ago, we strung together a few magical nights, but I keep those memories in a locked drawer and I’ve thrown away the key.
All that’s left is friendship and work.
He’s on the verge of unimaginable fame, all his dreams poised to come true.
I manage his career, but I can’t seem to manage my heart.
It’s wild, reckless, disobedient.
And it remembers all the things I want to forget.

By Webster’s definition grip means to take and keep a firm hold of; grasp tightly and if referring to emotion, to deeply affect. According to the Urban Dictionary grip means To have a abundant amount of something. No matter from which dictionary one pulls the definition of Grip it is the absolute truth in reference to Kennedy Ryan’s book, Grip.
It it rare that a book literally has it all:
intelligence, deep emotion, well-defined characters and plot, intrigue, humor, heart, combined with a conscience and a consciousness that is timeless and speaks to the soul. Kennedy Ryan has managed this all in one riveting story. It is beautiful, unexpected and magical. Kennedy Ryan turned what could have been a cliche into something so unique and wonderful. Grip must be read and discussed by all who truly love literature. What happens within the pages of this story transcends age, sex, race, social status and time. It is impossible to read Grip and not be deeply affected by the abudance of its exquisite words.
Loved these characters and this book!
Great series, Grip is a fascinating character.
And I’ve been sitting here with this paged pulled up, just trying to put some words down that will hopefully convey what a truly magnificent piece of literature Grip is, and truly, it is magnificent. It’s an emotional and profound journey of two extraordinary people who’ve shared a soul deep connection since the moment they met. Grip will grab your heart, reach into your soul, and it will not let go.
Hello Hollywood? Meet Grip. Instead of rehashing and reimagining all these classic movies, why don’t you take a look at incredible books like this that some pretty fantastic indie authors are putting out in the world??? Grip is engrossing, it’s relevant, it’s a powerful and passionate love story. But it’s much more than that. It’s a thought-provoking look at society and the issues still faced, sadly and shamefully, by a large segment of the population of this country, even in 2017. Kennedy tackles head-on the struggles and reality of men like Grip, and she does it with such heart and brilliance that you are transported into that vehicle with him, you’re sitting in that closet with him and his cousin…you are living these heart-pounding and stomach clenching moments right along with him.
Bristol and Grip are EVERYTHING . The love they share is jealousy inducing. It’s real and beautiful and heart stopping. Through the years it has never diminished. Kennedy paints such a magical picture of two headstrong and stubborn people- if there was ever a couple meant to be together it was these two.
Intense and compelling, Grip is a remarkable book full of life lessons that will stay with me forever.
