The second book in the series did not disappoint!!! This is Connor’s story. He runs a night club that helps keep the Doyle family business on the more legitimate side. He has no time for women until he finds a beautiful woman who is definitely in danger from the man she is with. Ava is putting herself through law school while working and trying desperately to avoid her abusive ex…who happens to be the mayors son. Just when Ava thinks this is the end for her, she is rescued by a blue eyed stranger. She can’t explain it, but she trusts him. Ava is a complication Connor does not need, but he can’t get her out of his head, nor can stay away from her. I love their budding relationship among all the drama, danger, and political intrigue. They can’t deny their passion, they just have to take a leap of faith and get past their demons to have their chance at happiness. Loved it!!!
He just want to protect her from anyone that causes her pain
The story of Ava and Connor is just as well written and conceived as Knockout, the first book in the series, was. It deals with the subject matter of domestic violence, obsession and stalking but in a way that does not mitigate it but treats it with respect.
Connor Doyle is the middle child of the Doyle brothers. He is 30 years old, single and runs the family nightclub, which he has remade into one of the best in the city. The Doyle’s are mainly legit but nothing is ever just black and white so there are some rules that get broken and some situations that get taken care of outside of the law.
Ava is a law school student who has not had it easy in life. Her mother died a few years ago and her father left them when she was younger for his assistant. But she is determined to succeed and as such she works all hours as a waitress at Gus’s Diner and also volunteers at the school’s law clinic in the domestic violence clinic.
Ava has a stalker in the form of her ex-boyfriend who beat her really badly the previous year and she ended up in hospital for a few weeks. He was never charged as he just happens to be the Mayor’s son and a deal was worked out. But he will not go away so quietly as he is a fellow law school student and they share some classes. So he has taken to stalking her again. This is how she literally runs into Connor as she is fleeing the ex after he accosts her when she is leaving the diner late at night. Connor just wants to keep her safe and help her, as there was a female cousin that was “disappeared” by her boyfriend.
I do not want to give away the entire story but the building relationship between Connor and Ava is fantastic. They have a lot of sexual attraction but once they get to know each other they get to see another side, which brings them closer together. But there are some hurdles and an stalking ex that stills needs to be dealt with. Connor will do whatever is needed to keep Ava safe, even if that means he can’t be with her.

This is the second book in The Doyle series a book set in the world of the Boston Irish Mafia
Ava is studying to be a lawyer and works in a bar to fund her schooling It is also the perfect place to hide from her abusive ex boyfriend Brook He is the son of the local Mayor and has grown up with his father continually bailing him out so he has no moral compass. When Brook finds her at the bar she is running from him when she bumps into Connor He is a member of the local Doyle family and manages one of their clubs He protects Ava from Brook and there is a connection between them Can they form a relationship when Ava can see that Connor is oh so capable of the violence she is scared of Can she be a lawyer and also be part of the Doyle family You will have to read to see if they have a future together
This series just keeps getting better and better.

This is book two in The Doyle’s, A Boston Irish Mafia Romance series. I read the first book, Knockout which was Owen and Molly’s story. This is Connor and Ava’s story. Connor is the big bad mob boss but when Ava’s path crosses with his, he also has a protective and softer side for her. Ava is just trying to do two things, one remain out of her abusive ex boyfriend’s grasp and two make a living for herself. One day, Ava’s ex Brooks finds her but luckily, so does Connor. Can these two opposites find their HEA? How well can a future lawyer and a mob boss really get along, let alone.find a sizzling, happy future together? Another awesome read in the series. Anxiously awaiting the next one. Enjoy!

This book is a well written and fast paced story focusing on Ava, a restaurant server and law student, and Connor, son of an organized crime head. These characters are diametrically opposite. They meet when Connor rescues Ava from her abusive ex-boyfriend, Brook, who is the mayor’s son. The plot evolves from this situation. The storyline contains violence, drama, intrigue, corruption, sexual chemistry, and strong powerful characters. I highly recommend this book!

This is the second book by Sophie Austin that I have read, and it was even better than the first one I read. Ava has had a rough time in life and stumbles upon Connor when he abusive ex boyfriend is pursuing her again. Connor has a protective streak a mile wide and when he encounters Ava trying to fight off her ex boyfriend his protectiveness kicks into high gear. This is a quick but entertaining read with great characters. I hope Sophie writes the romances of the other brothers.

ONE DELECTABLE EXPERIENCE!!!
Intense and engaging! Sophie not only hit the motherload, she blasted the vault wide open in this delightfully, delectable wild ride. A swirling multitude of vexing circumstances and surprising events that leave you breathless, craving more. One block busting bombshell with all the protective, possessive, alpha male deliciousness you can handle. Combating the trials and tribulations along with a horde of twists and turns fuse this bad boy together beautifully. A spinning, twisting vortex of inadvertent happenstance and unforseen mishaps propels your spinning emotions into play fluidly. The drama, angst, intrigue, danger and suspense blaze through melding this bad boy together one jagged piece at a time. The chemistry is intense, sizzling and combustible. The characters personalities are authentic and realistic with traits and qualities that blend with one another in a perfect balance. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions you have no problem picturing each scenario creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Fantastic job Sophie, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
This story is cliché with the chivalrous Irish man and the doe eyed innocent that needs saving from the bad rich boy, but Ava and Connor are a both likeable enough that they worm their way into your heart despite having to deal with an over done troupe.
The close Irish clan and all of the idiosyncrasies that go with being part of a large nosy family does add some levity and some heart string tugs.
The author allowed their relationship to develop before having them get physical with each other, which kept the sexual tension going through most of the story.
We see both of the characters grow with each other and separately. It’s a good short read that despite all of the genre baggage does make you smile when they get their HEA.
