Sienna Diaz is everyone’s favorite “fat” funny lady. The movie studio executives can’t explain it, but her films are out-grossing all the fit and trim headliners and Hollywood’s most beautiful elite. The simple truth is, everyone loves plus-sized Sienna. But she has a problem, she can’t read maps and her sense of direction is almost as bad as her comedic timing is stellar. Therefore, when … Sienna’s latest starring role takes her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park she finds herself continually lost while trying to navigate the back roads of Green Valley, Tennessee. Much to her consternation, Sienna’s most frequent savior is a ridiculously handsome, charming, and cheeky Park Ranger by the name of Jethro Winston. Sienna is accustomed to high levels of man-handsome, so it’s not Jethro’s chiseled features or his perfect physique that make Sienna stutter. It’s his southern charm. And gentlemanly manners. And habit of looking at her too long and too often. Sienna has successfully navigated the labyrinth of Hollywood heart-throbs. But can she traverse the tenuous trails of Tennessee without losing her head? Or worse, her heart?

Loved the setting, loved the story and loved that it was about a curvy lady and all she had to offer!
Loving this amazing, well written stories and characters!! Listen to this one on audio and loved the voices!! Book 3…here I go!
Jethro is coming in third as my most beloved Winston Brother (Roscoe and Cletus are still in front but then Billy’s book hasn’t been released yet….). This story is hilarious – the female lead Sienna is funny, no holds barred and real despite being a celebrity. Jethro however, shows a depth of character that makes you appreciate where he has come from. Going from bad boy to good brother, friend and lover hasn’t been easy on Jet and you get a real sense of his journey throughout the novel.
I definitely recommend this one (and all in the series).
I absolutely adored Sienna and Jethro’s story! Sienna is a movie star who comes to town to work on a movie and ends up getting lost. Jethro is a park ranger who happens to rescue her from her predicament. There is an instant attraction. The funny thing is, Jethro has no idea that she is even famous because he really doesn’t watch movies. She loves this because she can just relax and be herself, and be normal around him. Can two people from totally different worlds make things work? As usual, with the Winston brother’s, you get lots of laughs and a ton of love. This was a fantastic romance with really interesting characters. Chris Brinkley and Cielo Camargo did an excellent job on the narration!
When Jethro Winston stumbles upon a beautiful woman lost and stranded in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, he has no clue that she is the award-winning actress, comedian and writer, Sienna Diaz.
The curvy, vivacious woman makes him smile and he falls a bit in love with her that very first day, even though he mistakenly thinks her name is Sarah.
Sienna is used to handsome men, heck she works in Hollywood, but Jethro Winston is a real man. He is strong, confident, capable and oh so sexy. She never expects to see him again but then she never expects to get lost, again, on the same mountain road.
When his brother Cletus orders her to tell him the truth about who she is, Jethro still doesn’t understand what it means to be with a woman who is an A-list celebrity until they are up to their eyeballs in fans. With is colorful past, Jethro knows he should bow out and not taint Sienna with is mistakes, instead they keep finding themselves pulled and pushed together by those that love them and want them happy as well as their own desires for each other.
Can two people from two very different worlds find their happily ever after? It is a laugh-out-loud ride as they try to find out. Penny Reid gives you all the feels, I laughed until I almost peed my pants and I sniffled and cried along with the characters, I even got mad and wanted to tell a few of them off. When you get that invested into a story, you know it’s good. I’m onto the next in the series.
The narrators, Chris Brinkley and Cielo Camargo do an excellent job of filling the room with the story. As I listened in the car, folding clothes or at work, I felt as if I were right there on the mountain right in the middle of all the adventure. They truly brought the characters to life and made the novel an excellent experience.
If you haven’t read or listened to The Winston Brother series, why not? It’s so much fun! Y’all come on and join me…or not, you’ll just be the ones missing out.
Gotta go, I’ve got a hot date with a good book.
I LOVED IT!!! (and I rarely give 5 stars) The vulnerability each has and slowly opens and shows the other is amazing and wonderful. Thank you Ms. Reid 🙂
(Read March/2017)
5+ STARS!!
I have enjoyed every single book that Penny Reid has authored. By far, my favorite has been Beauty and the Mustache. Yet, Grin and Beard It has come a very close second. There’s only one explanation – Drew Runous! His role might be small and his words few, but they both command an audience. So much so, that I was sobbing in the epilogue.
Jethro and Sienna were pretty wonderful, as well. 🙂 Going in, I’m always surprised how Penny Reid fleshes out her main characters after only getting small glimpses of them in previous books.
After reading the first three Winston bros. books, Jethro is definitely my favorite. (Sorry, Cletus fans.) I can see why Drew and Jethro are close, because they are the epitome of what I would describe as honorable men. Jethro has spent his adult life atoning for his past and being an example of redemption. It’s been weeks since I finished this book and thoughts of these characters still move me. Jethro and Sienna are truly deserving of each other and, as always, Penny has written an achingly heartfelt and funny novel.
I laughed out loud and grinned through this book. The Winston brothers are adorable. This is the story of Jethro Winston the eldest of seven children. Jethro is a Park Ranger who helps a lost woman and finds her funny and cute, and has no idea of who she is.
Sienna Diaz is a movie actress that gets lost on her way to a cabin. She is seeking a little time to herself away from prying eyes. She finds it surprising that Jethro has no idea who she is. Their chemistry is comical, and so is this book.
Once again she did it! I loved this second book of the Winston series. Unfortunately I made the mistake of reading it in Italian and the translation is so poor (there are even some grammar mistakes) that part of the fun was spoiled by it.
I read anything Penny Reid writes. It really is SMART romance.
Great read!!!
I reject outright any insinuation that PR did a less than wonderful job with Sienna and her heritage. I’ve seen other reviews bemoaning this and I want to dispel that for anyone reading this review. Okay, that’s out of the way.
In was pleased to get to know Jethro, he’s been somewhat sparse in previous books. He’s damaged but working through his redemption. He’s kind and well mannered and a bit of a charmer. Sienna is a great partner for him since silly and smart are her default settings.
I liked Claire and her friendship with Jethro. There is some serious stuff coming for her and Billy. I adore Cletus. My eyes perk up whenever he’s in a scene. He’s so very clever, quirky and devilish! I’m looking forward to his book.
The heroine is Latina, an Oscar-winning movie Star and a size 14. She is funny, smart, loveable and a Geek. The Hero is a park ranger with a past he’s trying to live down. I love the Winston Brother Series. And I love Ppenny Reid for crafting This heroine.
I love everything that Penny Reid writes!
I love reading this book. I would recommend that anyone read the whole series.
Needing a break from the pull of Hollywood, Sienna Diaz heads to Tennessee with no idea what she was getting into. All Sienna wanted was to escape the paparazzi and the press that invade her privacy at every turn. What she didn’t count on was her inability to read a map. The Great Smoky Mountains were harder to navigate than Sienna could have imagined.
Never fear…there is always a park ranger around in the Smoky Mountains!! This one just happened to be Jethro Winston. What Sienna couldn’t believe was the instant attraction she would feel for the sultry savior in uniform. Jethro clearly had no idea who Sienna was ‘in the real world’….adding to the mystery that surrounded this man that clearly knew how to charm any woman.
Clearly Jethro’s self imposed dry spell was getting a work out with the sudden appearance of Sienna on the mountain road. As a man that completely turned around his life, Jethro hasn’t wanted to carry things too far with any woman that he couldn’t see spending his future with. Sienna is the temptation that he never saw coming.
Soon Jethro learns that Sienna is a writer and actress. Her world a whirlwind of activity and ‘in your face’ interruptions. Decisions will have to be made by both Jethro and Sienna on where the future of their relationship is headed. Is the risk worth all of the things that come along with a Hollywood Lifestyle??
Oh my goodness…I soaked up every single word of Jethro’s story!! Clearly the bad boy – Jethro pulled me in with his witty charm, thoughtful insights, and ability to know just what a girl needs. This slower paced romance pulled me in with its amazing characters and vivid descriptions. Jethro was quite the charmer!!
Penny Reid really outdoes herself with the creative storyline in this series. It is simple, unique and extremely engaging!! Seriously….I just can’t get enough of those Winston brothers. Oh – I can’t forget Cletus….he keeps me laughing and mesmerizes me with his insight! Can’t wait for the next book!!
Ugh! These two! I can’t get enough of them. I love everything about them. I love how imperfect Jethro is, and his deep desire to be a better person. I love that he not only has that desire, but has made it a reality. He IS a good person. I love that he was ignorant to whom Sienna is. And that he was selfless in his initial reason for “needing a moment”.
I love Sienna. I love her sense of humor. I love her real woman body. I love her beauty. Inside beauty that shines bright. I love her desire to be truly known, but her internal struggle with not being upfront about her true identity. I love her relationship with her mother. I really love that. And I love her willingness to take a chance on a backwoods hillbilly with a sordid past.
I just love everything about these two. And I’m so happy that they get their happy ending.
I absolutely loved this book!! Penny Reid did it again!! This was a great book! I absolutely fell in love with the characters, especially Jethro! What a great story (and ending). I laughed, I wanted to yell at my book (which I am sure many of us do..lol). This was just a great story. Penny Reid had me hooked from the very beginning! Cannot wait to continue on with this series!!
4.5 stars! This book was great! It was better than the last one (Duane, 4 stars) but not quite as good as the prequel (Ashley, 5 stars).
I can tell you right now I liked Grin and Beard It better than Truth or Beard because of Jethro’s personality. He’s my favorite kind of hero. A bit of a tortured past, grown into a good man, making amends for past mistakes, honorable, reliable, loyal, loves his family, good job, not to mention handsome as all get out! But also funny and charming and the best flirt! The flirty banter in this book is AWESOME. Flirty banter is one of my favorite things to read and Penny Reid is the QUEEN of it! If a man was ever to flirt with me the way that Jethro flirted with Sienna, he’d have me hook, line and sinker! Lock me up and throw away the key!
Sienna is probably one of my favorite heroines EVER. I loved her wit, her use of words, charm, flair, and basic bad assery as a woman who doesn’t give two $h!ts about what other people think of her, regardless of her status and fame. She’s the plus sized (which is a stretch because size 14 is more average than plus), diverse heroine I always want to be! I’m so thankful when authors write women who are taller (I’m 5’11” myself, so I don’t really consider 5’8″ to be tall, but it’s taller than most heroines I read about) and a more curvaceous woman AND when said tall, curvy heroine is COMFORTABLE with their body! I’m glad Sienna wasn’t plagued with body issues. It was refreshing!
Once again, the rest of the Winston brothers steal every scene they’re in! Ms. Reid created a wonderful family and I’m so excited to read about the rest of them!
My one issue with this book was Jethro’s insistence that they not have sex til marriage. Or should I say his personal desicion not to sleep with anyone until he was sure she was going to be his wife. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for waiting til marriage. But what I had a problem with was that, even though they weren’t doing it with their intimate parts, they were having oral and giving each other handies, and sleeping together in the nude (literally sleeping). If you’re still giving each other orgasms every other possible way, what’s the point of waiting to do it the original way? It just didn’t make sense to me.
Other than that, this book was awesome and I recommend it! Especially if you’re into tall, strapping bearded men with a heart of gold!
This was a really good read. I appreciated the confidence of the characters. They didn’t fall for the usual “plot conflicts” that have become cliches when a famous person falls in love with a regular person.
And all the characters (Winston brothers and all the other townspeople) get a chance to be multi-dimensional characters. This story felt like it was honest for Jethro & Sienna — not following a formula from the first book. I look forward to Cletus’ story, and the other brothers as well.
