King Grim Vasteri is the strongest and most feared warrior in the Tornian Empire. He is the King of Luda, blood brother to the Emperor and his line will die with him. He will have no offspring for no female would Join with him, for once he was scarred he was considered ‘unfit’. The Tornian Empire has been dying ever since the great infection caused the birth of females to become a rarity. Since … Since then they have been searching the known universes, for compatible females. The Emperor’s discovery of a compatible female on a slave ship changed that. He has ordered Grim to find his Empress’ home world so more ‘unprotected’ females could be obtained, knowing Grim would never be allowed to Join with one.
Lisa Miller is a widowed mother of two little girls, Carly and Miki. Her husband died just a year ago, after a long battle with cancer and she misses him immensely. Friends want her to start dating again, but in her heart, she knows there isn’t a man on the planet she could love like her Mark and who could love their girls as their own. Therefore, she’ll stay alone.
When Lisa is discovered ‘unprotected’ at her husband’s grave site, she wakes on an alien ship heading for an alien world. Refusing to accept this she confronts the large alien males, demanding she be returned to her children. Seeing his chance to have a female, Grim agrees to accept and protect her offspring if she agrees to Join with him and only him. Realizing this is the only way she can retrieve her children, Lisa agrees and the Tornian Empire changes forever.

First in series!
Lisa is a widow, with her two daughters she is coming to terms with the loss of her husband after a prolonged fight with cancer. Whilst visiting his grave, she finds herself kidnapped by a race of brightly colour aliens.
Aliens who are adamant that they are allowed to take ‘unprotected females’. Despite explaining that her husband is passed, it’s not until king grim offers his protection and support that he realises he has gained so much more that he ever thought.. for grim is scared and deemed unfit.
Despite this lisa trusts the giant gruff bronze man with her heart and her two young daughters safety and well being. grim is shocked by his strange alien queen, how could she honour him so, with her heart and her children.
However devious plots have been disrupted by their joining and grind enemies will stop at nothing to take what they want even if it means death and pain to all who stand in their way.
Wowowowow
Filled with intrigue, villainous bad guys and evils deeds. Balanced beautifully with a wonderfully written sassy, strong female lead.. and great gruff new king of book boyfriends!
Grim and lisa were fantastic together and had some wonderful chemistry filled moments.
This book was an absolute pleasure and joy to read! I will be continuing with this series and author.
Time is written on his soul
I have had my eye on this book for a while, but I held off because I just knew I would either hate it or it would send me down the series rabbit hole. Yep, seven books later and I still want to keep on reading! The characters were phenomenal! Okay some of them had to be bad, but oh were they fantastic at it, and the good ones were even better. I love that one small woman had the ability to sway a nation with nothing more than her natural qualities and two beautiful daughters. There were so many ups and downs in the relationship and the danger added an element that just enhanced the story. This was my first experience with this author, but it won’t be my last. I can only hope that there are many more books in her library.
Lisa Miller is visiting her husband’s grave when she is kidnapped by aliens. The aliens expect her to comply and be willing to join with one of their males when they reach Tornian. She isn’t unattached though, she has two little girls at home that she refuses to leave. She makes a deal with the fearsome warrior in charge to go back for them. King Grim never expected to have a female after he became scared, but now he has a female and children who are gifts from the Goddess, and he will do everything he can to keep them.
I have read this book so many times at this point that you would think I would be bored by now but I love it more each time (I have read it every year since 2015). This book is one of my go-to book to read when I am in a reading slump, feeling depressed, or just can’t figure out what to read. Something about Grim and Lisa’s story just makes everything feel better. I know a lot of people have issues with the editing and some of the story plots but I don’t notice them because I am so entranced by the story, even after all this time.
Lisa and Grim’s story is one filled with cultural differences, love, and danger. I loved everything about this world and characters. I love how caring and protective Grim is of Lisa and their daughters. Having this huge scared warrior who knows nothing about children being attentive and caring for the children is adorable. Lisa is a strong, caring, and protective woman. She is truthful and honest with everyone and really knows how to make people feel better about themselves and the situation.
Overall, I love this book as much as I did the first time and I know I will read it again in the future.
Great story!!
Very entertaining series. Characters are well written and interweave thru the series well. Highly recommend for fun reading. Hoping for more in the series.
I read this book 4-5 times. Well laid out plot line, strong alpha male lead, but with an intelligent female lead as well. Good character development
This is one of my all time favorite books! The world building was creative and believable. I have never read a book more than once, however, in the past 5 years I have read this book 3 times!!! I know, right?!?! You have an intriguing story line with well fleshed out, and likeable characters!
Not my usual choice of book but took advantage of a free offer. I could not put this down, and was up until 3 am even though I had to be up early. Just that good. Very heart warming story. As the main characters Grim and Lisa, fell in love you could feel it deeply. I believe I might have found another favorite author! This book pulled all the emotions out, it Reminded me of Kristen Ashley’s style of writing.
Fabulous book. One of my all time favorite books.
The book that hooked me on scifi…..i adore this author and this series
Sometimes a book takes you out of your world and into another. This is that book. The first in the Tornian series by the author, it is smashingly good! The world building is done in an organic manner and the characters’ motivations are never petty or poorly thought out. I HIGHLY recommend this book!
One of my favorite books, I have read it several times and I will probably read it again.
I hope m.k.eidem is going to write more of this series. Loved ever one.
A well written story, with a humble male charachter who was willing to learn. I really enjoyed this story and am lookink forward to reading more from this author
Fantastic great read!!!! Loved every page!!
Loved this story. Strong characters. Carly and Mini, stole the show. They were so sweet, you could not help falling in love with them. Lisa was wise, strong, caring, loyal, and completely queen material. Could not wait to start the next book. Read them all. Waiting for the next installment. It’s really getting good.
I didn’t care for the sound effects at first, they don’t always match up with the action but I ended up liking them and some are funny.
I enjoyed the story. I read the book twice. I will probably read it again.
This story involves aliens. Really big ones with muscles all over the place and, you know, big… bodyparts. It’s a lovestory between a human woman and a super intimidating alien, Grim – who of course is a big teddy bear at heart – in a kind of X-rated fairytale.
It’s about Lisa, a widowed mother of two, who gets abducted by aliens since the alien people – the Tornians – are on the verge of extinction due to lack of females. So yeah, human women are kidnapped to be used as breeding stock. Luckily, the Tornians are not only genetically compatible with humans, but they’re also very hunky. Colorful as well, but mainly they’re very, very well built. All over. Which is damn lucky. A lovestory between a human woman and a tiny little creature with a miniscule weiner would be a tough sell.
Anyway. Lisa gets abducted, along with her two daughters. Since women are so rare, Lisa and her children are considered to be extremely valuable. Too valuable, according to other Tornian lords, for the unworthy Grim to keep. There’s political intrigue, cultural clashes (alien society, duh), misunderstandings (humans vs aliens, duh), some more kidnapping attempts, inter-species shagging and love of course.
It was truly an interesting read, that’s for sure. I vacillated between being thoroughly entertained to irritation over the never ending grammatical errors and then I was back to being all engrossed in the story again. The entire thing has a sort naive quality to it, in that it’s very simple and black and white. The bad guys are super bad, the good ones are so honorable that all they’re missing are halos. The plot is easy to deduce and there’s very little nuance in general. But still, it’s a long story with obvious effort put into it. Even if the character and plot development both are a bit crudely executed, I still wanted to finish the story. I had to see it through to the end. So despite the storytelling leaving a lot of room for improvement, the story in itself was entertaining as all h*ll.
But I really struggled with the read for a while. Eidem mixed past and present tense in a completely insufferable way. Even switching tense in the same sentence. It made reading both hard and irritating. I think that was the most off-putting about Grim. I would definitely read more of Eidem’s books if I only knew they had been proof-read first. Sad but true.

I loved this book as it was original and romantic. I have read it over 5 times and purchased every other book that is connected to it. If you like a Si Fi romance with something to keep you guessing and fun in it, this is the book for you.
Not so interested in alien abductions, but the characters in this book warmed me up.
