Not all of the Faerie are sweet little Pixies. There are a few who do the dirty work on the side of the Light. Unknown protectors walk among us, gleefully using fang and claw and magick, leaving a bloody trail of vanquished evildoers in their wake. They are the GrimFaeries. If you are evil enough to try to tip the balance towards the Dark side, you might just get a visit from one. And they won’t … one. And they won’t be leaving a coin under your pillow.
When Kane the Grim is tasked with finding a serial murderer in Houston, he discovers that there is much more at stake. Magick is afoot, and an evil sorcerer is behind the killings. When he rescues a witch from certain death, his new mission becomes clear: stop the bad guy before it’s too late. Teaming up with a witch who’s as good with a gun as with her spells, they’ll face monsters, magick, and M-16’s, as they risk everything to stop the evil in its tracks before all is lost.

Not your average faerie, GrimFaeries are the ones tasked with ridding the world of evil. After Kane saves Ariana, she decides to join him in hunting down the one responsible for recent murders and the attempt on her life. Let’s see what a GrimFaerie and a witch with guns can do?
If you think that all Faeries are sweet and witches can be evil ,then SURPRISE!!! This story rocks with kicka** heroes , action and surprises along the way. This is one book you won’t be able to put down, I know I wasn’t able to.
This is a great book, it quickly drew me attention and kept me turning the pages. The author had me captivated by the complex characters and the intriguing storyline. I was eager to see how the story would unfold.
I actually liked the book. I’ve not read the author before and this is UF which I love. We have a Ariana a female character who can take care of herself which isnt unheard of in this genre but she was kinda funny as well. She’s a witch and a pretty good one at that. We have Kane who is a faerie but not the type from stories. He’s an assassin of sorts to keep the truly bad guys from doing horrible things. He’s not really a warm fuzzy guy but I liked him. They have to work together to stop someone from completing a ritual which will change the world forever.
Although I liked the story I did have some trouble with some things. We were mostly in Kane’s POV but then there were chapters where I wasnt sure who was talking. It took me awhile to figure it out and even then I wasnt sure exactly who was speaking but I knew it was the bad guy. I also had trouble with how long this mission took. What I mean is from chapter 12 to about chapter 34 they are trying to get into the building to get the bad guy. Thats a lot of chapters spent on that specifically. We dont need the step by step at least I didnt. I just wanted to skip over that part but I didnt to be true to my review. I got really bored though and just wanted it to be over. It was too much time spent on that I think. I think other areas of the book could have benefited more time like the characters Kane and Ariana we know very little about them just a little. Even more about Elias could have been added. Of course I’m intrigued with Max so I hope we havent seen the last of him. All that said I still liked it and I would like to read more of this series.
4.5 out of 5 stars
Not all fairies are sweet and innocent little creatures, some of them have to do the dirty work and tak care of the baddies in the world . That is what Kane is doing , he is on the hunt for a serial killer in Houston . When he finds the killers next victim he is astonished at whan she can do to save herself. When he finds out there is more going on then he expected he decides to team up with Ariana and find out where the black magic is coming from . Will they survive the magic, mayham and the m – 16s that are attracting the evil .
I must admit I really got sucked into theses characters . Kane well he is strong and deadly . He is like a grim reaper for the evil. He can also kick butt and take names . Yet there is a side to him that is kind of sensitive and really wants to do the best for people . Ariana well I love her , she is strong and sassy also she is a witch with some strong powers . They are so good each on their own but when combine their strenghts they are non stoppable . Elias Bress well man you guys are going to hate him . He is evil oh so evil . You really just want to slap him uside the head a few times through out the book .. There are so many characters in this book to count , we have pixies , trolls gargoyles and so many more .
I sat down to start this book and was wondering how the author was going to write in the fairy genrs . What i didn’t realize is how much i would get sucked into the story . I was sucked in from the very first chapter . I really wanted to get to know these characters and honestly their back stories . The author writes and interesting story with lots of twists and turns that will have you flipping pages all night long . There were a couple of places at the begining that were kind of a bit choppy but I truly loved this story and the characters . Now I have to wait for book two cause he does leave us with a cliff hanger .If you want an interesting take on all things fairies check out this book you will not be disappointed .
Well played tale!
Interesting world to soak in. Lots of “fun” surprises. Strong Women Heroine. A lot of room for expansion to stories within story also.
Loved it! It was a wild kick-butt thrill ride! I loved the characters and how they were both badass, fierce and just fun to read. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through there wasn’t a dull moment throughout! I can’t wait to see more of my new favorite witch and Grim Faerie!
