I was the golden child. The one all the Cerberus guys looked up to. I was on my way to becoming the next career Marine. But after my last deployment to Syria, being a Marine was no longer an option.Unfortunately, my not so honorable discharge from the Corps didn’t get rid of the demons created while I was enlisted. Not even my childhood friend can save me. I’ll destroy her just like I destroyed … her just like I destroyed everything else I touched.

I’ve been desperate for more of the Cerberus MC series and finally we have Griffin’s story. This story played on my emotions that’s for sure! As much as I didn’t like Griffin in the beginning my heart hurt for him and Ivy. I loved Ivy! I admired her strength and persistence even when Griffin tried everything he could to push her away.
Marie James has outdone herself with another fantastic addition to an amazing series!! Loved it!!
This author has a special talent for writing captivating stories that immerse the reader into a world of alpha men, strong women, action, romance and emotions.
If your new to this series, you can certainly read this as a standalone. If you’re a returning fan, this story is more then your expecting. It has feelings and emotions, passion and steam, action and a bit of violence; but more then that, it has realistic characters that tear your apart and mend you back together right along side them.
This is an MC story, with a military main character and everything that entails. I loved riding along with Griffin and his brothers, following him as he rediscovered himself, and watching him find love. I could not love this story more. If your on the fence, just one click now!! I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
This one was emotional. So very well written with a very tough storyline. It grabbed me from the beginning and had me hooked until the very end. I absolutely loved this one and wanted more from these two. So much more than what I got. Griffin does the unthinkable. He has no other option but to do what is needed. He ends up coming home from the Marines and does not handle what is going on in his life now well at all. Ivy has always liked Griffin and when she finds out that something has happened to him to wants to be there for him. But things are not going to be that easy. All he wants is the bottle to forget. But that doesn’t help the situation either. Will he end up losing her for good or will he be able to be saved? The emotions in this one were amazing. You could easily feel what Griffin was going through and at the same time what Ivy was feeling trying to help him and not being able too. I absolutely love Marie James and her writing and this one showcases her writing style

Hold onto your hats ladies…the men of Cerberus are back!
Marie James has delivered yet another swoon-worthy alpha male to add to the ranks of Kincaid, Shadow, Snatch, and more recently, Lawson and Hound, to name a few. Griffin takes his rightful place in those ranks with his own tale of service, betrayal, heartbreak, and redemption.
Serving in the Marine Corps was the only thing he ever wanted to do. A young man of strength, integrity, and courage, he followed his dream with vigor, determination, and honor…until the day he followed a madman into battle and came home a coward. The nightmares were all to real for Griffin, and his shame and cowardice haunted him day and night. Coming home to the family that loved him, only added to his shame. In his mind, he had committed the ultimate betrayal, the ultimate sin. Refusing the unconditional love of his family, Griffin secludes himself and finds solace at the bottom of a bottle. His redemption comes to him in the form of a beautiful angel. Kind and pure as the driven snow, Ivy has loved Griffin her whole life. When news of his homecoming hits her, she drops everything to be by his side and provide what he needs to heal. What she doesn’t expect, though, is the drunk and spiteful man she finds when she gets home. Pushing her way into his life, Ivy forces Griffin to see what is right in front of him. Will she be enough to banish his demons, or will the demons win the war?
As with the rest of them, I loved and adored these characters! Marie puts so much heart and soul into them, you can’t help but know them…feel them…love them. Griffin’s story was different than many of them in the past, as the battles he faced were within himself, rather than an outside force. And, though it contained plenty of angst, it didn’t have the stomach dropping plot twist so many often do. I haven’t quite reconciled whether or not I missed the action, or feel refreshed by the change. Either way, Griffin and Ivy have solidified themselves in my Hall of Fame, along with the rest of the Cerberus MC.

Wow! Griffin’s story is another phenomenal edition to the Cerberus MC Series. SOOOO GOOD!
Griffin has been discharged from the marines, and not doing well. He’s closed himself off from everyone that wants to help him. That is until Ivy forces her way in…
Can she help him see the light? Save him from the darkness that is threatening to take over him?
I’ve found it really hard to put into words how good this book is. It was such an emotional read. Though touching on multiple sensitive subjects, it was beautifully written.
Just can’t get enough of Marie James’s books. I could read them over and over. Highly recommend this series
Oh good lord!! I was soooooooooo excited when this showed up on my kindle.. I read this beauty in one sitting. Marie is one of my Faves!! I have read EVERYTHING of hers.
This book broke my heart.. with everything Griffin when thru while he was serving.
Griffin is a Marine – and when given a order from your commanding officer – you need to follow. Even if that causes you everything you have worked and stand for. Griffin is being Discharged from the Marines due to some problems he got himself into – His uncles Kincaid and Dominic are sent to pick him up and bring him home.
Ivy is Kincaid’s baby girl.. twin to GiGi. Ivy has always had a crush on Griffin but he never saw her in that way.. one due to she was several years younger, and 2.. she always thought he had a thing for her twin..
Griffin is in a very very dark place when he returns home. opting not to stay with his family he finds a place to live – Ivy wants to see him.. but when she gets there he is no longer the man she thought she loved.. he is full of darkness and anger.
Will Ivy be able to bring him out of this darkness that has ahold of him or will he bring her down with him?
Each and every one of these book just keeps getting better and better… I cant wait to read about Sampson and I REALLY REALLY want a Cannon Book (please let it be with Melissa)!!!
Oh wow, Marie James brought out the emotional big guns with this one!!
Griffin (Shadow’s Son) was serving in the Marine corp until something happened and he has come back a broken shell of a man. He is struggling to deal with the demons in his head and drowns himself in the bottle in an attempt to stop the memories.
Ivy (Kincaid’s daughter) has always had a crush on Griffin, but has always felt overshadowed and overlooked by her twin sister. Despite all this she travels back across the country when she hears he is back. When she finds a broken, angry Griffin she can’t help but try to help him.
Ivy seems to be the only light that breaks through Griffin’s darkness, that centres and grounds him.
Oh the emotions in this had me sobbing my heart out, I just wanted to hug Griffin. This poor guy was put in an unthinkable position. Such an emotional rollarcoaster and I couldn’t love these Cerberus men more! they don’t judge just support.
Another brilliant job Marie James <3<3
6/5 stars!!! I love this MC series so much, mostly because it isn’t your “typical” MC series. This book though is a bit different from the others. Marie managed to touch multiple tough topics in this book and she went about them in the most beautiful way!!!
I am having issues putting into words Griffin in this book. The crap he dealt with as a Marine and his life post-marines was SO heartbreaking. Seeing this man shut down and cave into himself was just the saddest thing. I ADORED Ivy though. She definitely gave him a no-nonsense attitude though. She held her own with him and that was sooo admirable. It was also exactly what Griffin needed. He needed her there to bust his balls and try and keep him in the right direction. The stubbornness of each of them was hysterical though.
There were so many things that I loved about Ivy. I love how she wasn’t afraid to be different, to be herself and to be who SHE wanted to be. Her innocence was super adorable and I love how proud she was of it. Seeing her with Melissa and Delilah was hysterical since she is complete opposite of him. But, when we see her with Griffin she became a completely different person. I loved that! I love that she really thrived with him. She even went up against her dad once, which was totally awesome.
Speaking of Dad, I loved seeing glimpses of the old timers and their wives. Seeing their protectiveness of their children is so great! I also loved that they really got behind Griffin in this book and didn’t let him wither away with his issues.
That being said, I can’t really say much more without giving things away. I think this is definitely one of my favorites of the Cerberus MC so far though! I loved every minute of Griffin and Ivy and I think this was just written so darn well!
This is the 8th book in this phenomenal series and is Griffin and Ivy’s story. Griffin was a marine who had returned home broken and a tortured soul with PTSD. Ivy is a strong and determined girl who has a calming effect on Griffin, and wants to help him heal and stop him from spiraling any more out of control. This is a fantastic well written story which is heartbreaking, raw, gritty, intense, and an emotional roller coaster journey from beginning to end which all leads to a powerful and all consuming masterpiece. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend this gifted authors’ work for all MC lovers.
Wow! This is such a beautiful heart felt story!!! Griffin comes home a broken man with no self worth. A terrible experience in the Marines has broken him. Ivy has always loved Griffin. She comes home to try and help Griffin with his demons. Their story is gut wrenching, haunting and absolutely amazing!!! This is another stellar read from Marie James!!! Loved it!!!
I’ve been SO curious about Griffin for a while now and I’m so glad to get his story. Here’s the thing about Griffin – you know you should dislike him and his bad behavior, but you are fighting for him from page 1. There’s something so profoundly loveable about this imperfect hero.
The first half of this book was a bit repetitive to me. There were times that I really didn’t like Griffin at all. The heat level wasn’t what I was expecting probably because it was a long slow burn romance. Can’t wait for Samson!
Absolutely loved Griffin! I’ll admit I haven’t read the entire Cerberus series but I still loved this book! Griffin has some emotions to overcome after his service in the Marines but Ivy takes them in stride. Well written and couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait for the next one!
Fantastic storyline that will have your emotions running in all directions. There will be a hate/love relationship with Griffin when you first get to know him. He has some really serious issues taking place within his mind and is spiraling downward fast after returning home from the Marines, in a manner that was not to his liking at all. He feels that he has let everyone down including his Marine Corp. The ghosts haunt him, as do a very live member of his past, one that he knows is waiting to take him out. Or is it is mind that is making him believe this.
She’s from his past, but he is not the man for her future. He’s done things that he knows will turn her away from him so he pushes back; but he really does need her calming effect. His mind stays in a drunken turmoil until she has to ask for help, she has to call in for back-up, she calls his dad!
I really loved Ivy and Griffin. She’s strong, beautiful and smart and she has always had a thing for Griffin. Now that he’s back she rushes home to see him, but he is not the young man she knew. He’s troubled and hurting and she will do almost anything to help him as much as she can.
This is a wonderful book and the story is well written with well defined characters that you can’t help but like. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next book .
I absolutely loved the new one from Marie James! I am not going to lie in the beginning I really began to hate Grffin and his actions, but wow did he redeem himself. Griffin knew what he wanted in life and then he finds himself no longer able to be that person and heads home to the Cerberus world, but is hiding himself from those who could help. All of them except Ivy, the now woman who has always had a crush on him. Ivy and Griffin’s story is full of challenges, but was perfect for their journey both separate and together.
Received an ARC for an honest review.
I have loved all of the books in this series so far. I will say this book was the most emotional book out of the whole series. You just could not help loving Griffin and Ivy and everything they went through. Ivy had loved Griffin forever but Griffin never saw her until his life was a mess. He didn’t want to have anything to do with anyone but Ivy she was his saving grace. I could not put this book down at all and finished it in a day. You are fighting for these two the whole way through the story. Can’t wait for the next one in this series!
I love the Cerberus kids!! I’ve been dying for Griffins book forever! Loved Ivy and Griffin together, they are perfect for each other! This book has it all. Sexy, sweet and definitely some sadness. Marie James never disappoints me and I can’t wait for more!!
Arc copy provided by author for honest review
This book tugged on all the heart strings. Was a stark reminder of what some of the men and women who fight for us actually deal with when the return to us. So glad that love still conquers all for Griffin and Ivy. Was not expecting my emotions to take over so much during this fantastic read. Can’t wait did the series to continue!
Marie James has had me falling in love with this amazing group of men since the beginning of this series, but I believe she may have outdone herself with Grifin. This one captured me heart and soul and I fell head over heals in lobe with Griffin. Even now, days later, I am having trouble articulating how great this book is.
Griffin is sweet sexy and all kinds of broken. My heart ached for all that he had been through and I couldn’t help but hope he found some peace. Griffin and Ivy are the perfect balance for each other and I loved them together. Their chemistry is off the charts and made for some super hot scenes that will curl your toes.
I can never get enough of the Cerberus men and I can’t wait to see what James brings us next!
Marie James is back in the game with Griffin. I missed this MC series. I read this story in one sitting and was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how the drama would unfold. Griffin was such a tortured soul and Ivy was his only light. I loved this couple. I could feel their pain and frustration. I adored Ivy’s dad and the conversation he had with Griffin. Marie this book is full of regret, devastation, hope, strength and unwavering love and this couple is a match made in heaven.
