For hundreds of years, Nightmares have ruled the world. Descended from the Seven Deadly Sins, these supernatural creatures have enslaved and tortured the human race.I have lived my entire life fighting back against the monsters that have plagued this world. A deadly assassin and a member of the resistance, I only have one motto: kill or be killed. When The Damning commences – a fight to the death … commences – a fight to the death against the world’s most brutal serial killers, assassins, and torturers – a twist of fate finds me as one of the competitors. Despite my initial reluctance, I find myself eagerly participating.
But what I didn’t count on, however, were the seven princes:
Lupe, a Shifter descended from Wrath.
Devlin, a Genie descended from Greed.
Jax, a Vampire descended from Gluttony.
Killian, an Incubus descended from Lust.
Ryland, a Shadow descended from Pride.
Sebastian, a Mage descended from Sloth.
And,
Dair, a Mermaid descended from Envy.
Our love could never be. I’m an assassin, and they are my targets.
But who ever said I needed to follow the rules? If only I can survive The Damning…
This is a medium-burn reverse harem romance. Expect a kick-ass, snarky MC, seven swoon-worthy heroes, and a lot of bloodshed. This is book 1 in a series.

This book was seriously exceptional. I’ve been in a bit of a reading rut lately, unable to find something that completely captures my interest, but then I found GREED, that all changed! Holy sweet baby Jesus is it ever good!
Z is a badass assassin, who by misfortune, ends up entered into “The Damning”, a Hunger Games style tournament full of assassins. This brings her to the Capital of the supernatural world where, as you might guess, chaos ensues.
Not only is Z an awesome protagonist, but her men are awesome as well. Going into this, I thought seven might be a little much, as the RH I’ve read in the past with more than 5 males usually get a little hard to follow (or keep track of who is who). But not Greed. It remained very clear who each male was–not even through their supernatural species (because I often got a few of them mixed up), but through their personalities. They were each their own individual person, and none of them sunk into the background, or got lost in a similar character.
Aside from the awesome cast of characters, which also includes Diego and Mali (whom I loved!), the world building is exquisite, the stakes are REAL, and the slow build up is killer. That, coupled with some hilarious lines/quippy inner and outer dialogue/funny narrative, made this an extremely enjoyable read.
5 stars! Could not put this down! Best for fans of dark supernatural RH with loads of romance as well as blood. The perfect combo if you ask me!
I’m deeply ashamed, because up until now I only read May’s Supernaturalette series, even though I have loads of her books on my Kindle already. I knew that was gonna change this summer and when I read on Facebook that some people seriously e-mailed May to tell her that the guys in this book were so unattractive because of their disabilities I also knew exactly which book to start with. I mean, if you complain that there aren’t enough characters with disabilities in books, you gotta check out the ones there are.
I’m in love. I’m completely, utterly, fully in love. This story was everything! The guys in this story were everything. I’ve been reading the book with a smile on my face, with some ache in my heart at times and with the adrenaline rushing through my veins. I had high hopes when starting this book, but May delivered. The book was emotional, the book was action-packed, the book was exciting, layered and interesting.
All the important characters get one or more point of view chapters in this book. I like how that helps us to understand what’s going on in their heads, what they’re struggling with, how they look at themselves and how they believe the world to see them. All the guys, but for sure Z too, have a chip on their shoulder. This society is quite clearly a harsh one where the weak, the pretty and the smart have targets on their backs and if they survive they have to deal with the consequences.
And all these struggles, all these painful pasts and all the strong emotions jumping from the page really got to me. I started to care about these characters so incredibly quickly. I started rooting for their happy ending so fast. The amazing characters combined with the exciting plot with a touch of politics, a touch of mystery and loads of danger, makes this book an amazing ride. And it’s only the beginning. I can’t wait to read more!
What a fantastic story. It is packed full of drama, suspense, mystery and action. It drew me in and didn’t let go until it reached the end. I absolutely loved Z and all her kick butt attitude. She is strong and protective all at the same time. Yes, it does end in a cliffhanger and I absolutely can’t wait to see what happens next. There are parts that really made me sad but they flowed into the story perfectly. It is extremely well written and a must read.
One of the best twisted and dark world-building I have seen to date. Katie has taken the 7 sins and personified them and I couldn’t put this series down. Bad-ass assassin, unique and hot males, with a twisted look on how humans and even royalty are treated? Yes, please and thank you. I laughed, cried, and died a little bit inside but it was worth it. If you want an action pack adventure then this is for you.
Holy crap! I am on a seven deadly sins kick lately and this book definitely did not disappoint. I loved every second of it and couldn’t put it down. What could be better than an assassin hired to kill the princes of the 7 deadly sins only to find out that they mean something important to her? Hilarity and so much emotion ensued throughout these pages. I finished this book in one sitting. Can’t wait to start the next one.
This was an enjoyable plot with a great take on the paranormal-romance theme. In a world were there descents of the 7 deadly sins rule the world and humans are mire food or worse slaves, Z longs to see change. As a human assassin, she finds herself as a participant in the Damning, where 100 of the worst Nightmares in the realm complete to kill reacher to become the Royal courts’ assassin. What better way to take out a corrupt reign than from within? She soon finds herself comforted not only by the worst of the Nightmares, but by the best. Her heart and her head don’t know how to handle it. Finding out the good are actually the princes of the 7 courts who she thought were evil and was intent on killing is throwing her for even more of a loop. . . well and they all seem to be her mates. Can she set aside her vengeance against Nightmares to give her heart a chance at love? Can’t wait till the next book.
This book is the beginning of a new series by Katie May. While I really enjoy her other series, this is my favorite by her.
Greed follows a human woman in a world full of monsters. She finds that even monsters can be broken and abused. Life takes an interesting turn and when tragedy strikes, she must decide what she stands for.
Z is funny, strong, and bada.. which I love. She also has her own issues and that makes her feel real. The world building is interesting and I love the concept. I’m anxiously awaiting book 2, Envy.
Oh, where to start! Z is such a strong character, she’s fierce and quick witted, she takes no crap and she knows what she wants. The fact that we meet her while she’s on the roof, laying in wait to assassinate someone is just wickedly delightful. Diego is wonderful, the best kind of support character, the best-friend who loves the MC unconditionally and is loved in return. I can’t say more than that, I’m not ready, I live in hope it isn’t how it seems. The Princes are well written and unique and I really enjoyed the chapters where we got to see inside their thoughts and lives. It’s heartbreaking, but in their misery there is the hope that one day, when they rule, they will change the horrors of their world, and stop it from happening to anyone else. The burgeoning relationship between Z and the Princes is so freaking well done. Her conflict with Devlin, the way she calms Jax’s mind, her instant connection with Daire, Lupe’s fascination, Bash’s angry denial, Killians adorable blushing and Rylands quiet observation; all the interactions Z has with them are gold. The story itself is well thought out and executed and I’m so dang excited to read book 2 I’m practically beside myself, lol. I highly recommend this book!
Paranormal. Rh. 7 supernaturals. Mate bonds. Human Assassin heroine. I don’t even want to tell you anything about it. You just need to trust me and read it. Katie May has a way of yanking your heart around. Love it.
This is a really good start to a new series. I really like the detailed characters and the creative story line so far. The different sins and how they are associated with the different supernatural races is intriguing. Zara as the human assassin is pretty awesome. Diego kind of broke my heart though. I can’t wait to read more about Zara and the Princes in book 2.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. What drew me to the book was the combination of the seven deadly sins concept with the classic “monsters” in literature. It was really intriguing, the book looked a good length, and I decided to give it a go.
It was a fantastic read. It was long enough to really get your teeth into, there wasn’t a cliffhanger, and it was a captivating read. There is enough that happens in this book to feel like a full plot without a cliffhanger, but at the same time, there are enough unanswered questions that you want more, you need to know more about these characters and what is going on in their world and in their minds. The characters felt well developed, and the relationships didn’t feel like they developed at break neck speeds. It’s not insta-love in this book, but at first glance, I get the impression that this is the full harem in this book; it’s not going to be adding one or two in each book in the series, gang’s all here now. What’s more, the relationships develop independently, at different speeds; there are still love interests in this book that she doesn’t really know, doesn’t necessarily get along with. I’m also a fan of Z as a character. She’s entertaining, funny, but still has a side to her that she doesn’t let out/doesn’t let people see. I am so glad I decided to read this book, and I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.
This was different than what I thought it was. I didn’t know if I would like it. I’m still a bit unsure but I do know that I like these characters. The story line is interesting enough to keep me coming back but I have A LOT of questions and no answers. I don’t know if it’s just me or if I need to re-read it but it felt a bit rushed. But I want to read more and I will be looking forward to reading the next one!
Overall: 3.5/5
Z/Zara is an assassin that takes out Nightmares. May has created an interesting world. I like her take on supernaturals being descended from the 7 deadly sins. I also like that none of her characters are “perfect.” I can’t wait to see where this series goes, and I’m looking forward to learning more about Jax, Bash, and Ryland.
I love this book! Katie has somehow turned villians into heroes, broken into strong, and darkness into light. From the original tale of how monsters came to be to the unusual take on those monsters, she weaves a unique tale filled with tragedy, love, hope, and pain. Add in the steamy parts and the witty moments of levity and you have a beautifully written book that, despite its darker themes, is a joy to read.
Greed is the first book in this brand new series from the author and I am absolutely in love with it!
I must confess, this book is giving me a flashback of Throne of Glass series. Zara is an assassin and through some sick joke of Fate, were drawn to the Seven Princes, whom she was conditioned to hate.
I love Z’s character. She is an interesting mix of bad ass, snarky and yet vulnerable. Not to mention funny. I swear, I snorted/ laughed out loud at her inner musings and antics with Diego. Speaking of Diego, my heart goes out to him. Well, actually to all the seven Princes. There are more to them than their supposed reputation and my poor heart fell for them. Only to be broken by that particular scene right near the ending. I bawled my eyes out, I kid you not.
With the way things end, it is safe to say that I’m impatiently waiting for book 2.
I received an ARC and I’m choosing to leave an honest review.
