Welcome to Chipping Cheddar, where supernaturals are hidden in plain sight…Annoying but loving family? Check.Picturesque small town with a hot police chief? Triple check. My story has all the hallmarks of a sweet and cozy supernatural tale, but there’s a twist—I am evil.Well, I’m supposed to be evil … twist—
I am evil.
Well, I’m supposed to be evil thanks to both nature and nurture, but I fight it with every fiber of my being. I just want to live a normal life. I even joined the FBI instead of the Federal Bureau of Magic, until my powers reared their ugly head and the agency sent me packing back to my hometown to fight magical crimes instead.
Now I’m back in Chipping Cheddar, living with my evil family, with a new job and all my old baggage.
Oh, and there’s a dead body, which was definitely not an accident.
So there you have it. Welcome to my world.
Great Balls of Fury is the first book in the Federal Bureau of Magic paranormal cozy mystery series.
Other books in the series include–
Fury Godmother, Book 2
No Guts, No Fury, Book 3

This is a really fun book. I like the premise so much, and the writing did not disappoint. Great escape, and the second one’s out now too!
I really enjoyed this story. The characters are zany and fun and the world building is fresh and interesting. It definitely left me wanting more–lucky for me, book two is on the way soon!
Enjoyable romp of a sarky book quite up my alley. Eden Fury gets demoted from FBI and sent back to her home town to head up the local office of the Federal Magical Bureau. She has her demon father to appease and her witch mother to thank for humorous unpleasantries with the new Chief of Police. Take Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum (without all the ridiculous mishaps) and add Jenny Crusie’s romcom books. I would read anything by this author, given her fast-paced flow and witty dialogue. Probably have to wait for a few discounts, though.
What a cute book – loved the cover, the story, the characters, the setting and everything in between. It’s definitely worth checking out!

I love every single thing about this book and the rest of the series. A family of black sheep? Yes, please. Their black sheep is actually a good girl? Love it. The mother and grandmother feud like crazy, sometimes offing one another since they can return from the dead. HILARIOUS.
If you like a fun romp with a side of paranormal in your cozy mysteries, put this book at the top of your list.
While browsing Amazon something about the cover drew me in. So I clicked and read the description about Eden Fury the Supernatural Fury who worked for the FBI until being transferred to the magical equivalent the FBM. Cute cozy mystery. Loved the characters and enjoyed seeing different ones outside just vampires and shifters. Eden intrigued me and got me invested in her lives and the antics of her family. With a hot guy, paranormal creatures, and mystery this story kept me on my toes and hooked. Can’t wait to see what’s next for Eden.
This is a paranormal mystery that had me hooked from the first chapter. I have never read a book from this author before, but I immediately took to her writing style as it focused on humor and intrigue.
What I most enjoyed about this book was the main character, Eden. She is wonderfully smart, strong, and funny, but most importantly, she wants to be good and do good, even though her family doesn’t support that way of living. Eden says something in the book that really stuck with me, and I think it defines her way of lif—and why I just related to her so much. She said, “It’s our choices that define us, not our genetics.” She proves that throughout this book. But, enough with the seriousness, I have to comment on the laugh out loud humor that fills this book. From Eden’s grandma to her toddler niece Olivia, everyone has their turn at hilarity. I thought all of the characters brought something special to this book and I couldn’t really pick one that didn’t stand out in some way.
With a cast of characters like that, this book already has so much potential, but that wasn’t the only thing that makes it good. The storyline itself is interesting and keeps the reader on their toes. It isn’t a classic whodunit because there are so many other elements at play that add to the entertainment. That said, there were a couple errors and possible plot holes that distracted a little, NOT a lot, from the story. Also, I think there may have been times within the chapters where time jumps occurred and they might have been easier for the reader to follow if there were chapter breaks. But those are very minor details, just things that I noticed.
Overall, I think this book is fantastic if you are looking for a powerful female lead, who is slightly flawed, and a lot of humor, with supernatural twists.
This was my first book by Annabel Chase, but it definitely won’t be the last! I loved how she turned the most common Cozy tropes right on their head and can’t wait to learn more about Eden and her family in future books!
What a funny read this is. Fantastic characters, lots of laugh-out-loud moments and a decent mystery. Looking forward to reading others in this series.
