Can Gray help his new office manager clean her dirty laundry? Or will the mafia princess hang him out to dry?Since leaving the FBI Grayson Jennings has found peace in his life with his job as a forensic accountant with Deep Six Security and he treasures it. It remains that way until Michaela Girabaldi is hired as the new office manager for their east coast office. The smart-mouthed Jersey girl … office.
The smart-mouthed Jersey girl strolls into the office in red high heels with her bags packed with enough dirty laundry to last them both a lifetime. In Prison. Her dirtiest laundry is the 1.2 million dollars she insists she didn’t steal from the mob and Gray is wrangled into helping her find it.
Well, this was not Gray’s first rodeo with a beautiful criminal and he had the bruises to prove it. He was not going to blindly trust a woman ever again, especially one suspected of murder and many other nasty crimes. He would help her, but he wouldn’t be getting into bed with the mafia princess or falling for her or her games.
Mickie says only her cousin knows where the loot is located, so Gray sets out to find her. To do that, he’ll have to follow the money, but he is afraid at the end of that trail he’ll find a lot more than he bargained for, because had a feeling the sexy-as-sin woman was guilty as hell.
But will he find the money before the mob finds Mickie? Or will she distract him with her Nonna’s Magic Massage Oil and fritattas at the beach house where they’re hiding out and get them both killed?

Wow. This was fast-paced, hilarious, and a bit sexy. Completely unexpected characters that were very well written, and plot twists that weren’t entirely predictable (an achievement for this romance sub-genre)! I enjoyed the author’s easy, flowing writing style, and the spatters of Italian cursing and words of affection.
Get ready for a wild and crazy smokin’ hot ride with Gray and Michaela in the next installment of the Deep Six Securities series. The storyline is intense and suspenseful with several funny moments that will have you laughing out loud. The snarky banter between Gray and Mickie seems so natural and the sexual chemistry between the two is off the charts. The story contains constant action and several surprises that have you racing to the end, hoping for a successful, happy outcome. There is so much emotion in this book you can practically feel it seeping through the pages as you read. This is a fantastic read and you will not be disappointed if you give it a try.
Grayson Jennings is an untrusting, conservative and uptight forensic accountant who used to work for the FBI and now works for Deep Six Security. He is an impatient alpha male who prefers structure and no-nonsense in his work and personal life. All he wanted is to get through the current interviews he is conducting in Washington DC for their new branch and get back home. He had no idea that his current day would go from bad, after a run-in with a gorgeous, smart mouth Italian woman at the coffee shop, to worse, having to dodge bullets and running for his life, after she walks in for a job interview. Knowing she is lying through her teeth in their meeting raises all sort of red flags and after being horribly burned before by a woman and almost going to jail from the outcome he is determined to find out what secrets she is hiding. Little did he know that following her and trying to find out what she is hiding will lead him to promise to help her and both of them running for their lives from the mob and one of the worst gangs in the area. With both factions out to get them and not knowing who to trust, Gray turns to his team for help while digging into Michaela’s story and past to find the truth and hopefully save their lives.
Mickie Girabaldi’s life is in danger and she is on the run. She is trying to stay one step ahead of the mob while looking for her missing cousin; whom she believes holds the answers to clear her name and save her life. She is extremely low on funds after tracking her cousin to Washington DC and is desperate to find a job to obtain more money to continue her search. Her current job interview will secure the funds she needs to keep looking for Teresa as long as the company does not dig too deeply into her life and accepts the lies she tells as truth. Getting past the very intuitive office manager Lou Ellen, was bad enough but getting past the hard, takes no prisoners, Gray Jennings would definitely be a challenge. She had no idea that she would be putting her life and heart in his hands. Even if she could survive the first and clear her name would she be able to survive Gray and the strong feelings she has for the uptight suit.

Loving all the Italian sayings that are popping up; cazzone, stronzo and goomba to name a few.
Fast pace with some interesting characters. A H that is so wrapped in the past that he is blind to the future and a h that I want to be friends with.
Gray Matter – Deep Six Security #5 by Becky McGraw – 5 stars
“Every one of us has had trouble of some kind, but we didn’t run from it. We had the courage to run toward it, together, to reclaim our lives.”
This is the 5th book in the Deep Six Security series and it is the first one I have read. It read well as a stand-alone and while I knew there were characters whose stories had already been told, it didn’t make me feel I was missing something – it just made me want to go back to where it all began.
Grayson Jennings “Gray” “The Big Dill” and Michaela “Mickie” “Jersey” are the main characters of Gray Matter. They meet at a coffee shop when Mickie is trying to pay for her coffee. “Lady, could you please finish playing Let’s Make a Deal with that purse? I have to get back to the office.” I really feel like this line could sum up the whole book. There is humor and sexy times and a mystery to be solved. Mickie and Gray both bring different personalities to the story that balance it out perfectly.
I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading the entire series. Becky McGraw has just become a “one-click” author for me.
