~~4.5 HEART-THROBBING STARS!~~
“I see her, see my own battered soul reflected in her eyes. And it undoes me.”
Angsty single dad romances are my KRYPTONITE, and when we get one penned by the gloriously talented C.M. Seabrook, talk about sweet euphoria!!
THE STORY:
Single Dad Kade Savage has been badly burned in love and his heart belongs to one and only lady. His precious little princess, Lola. But fate has different plans in mind for this jaded tortured soul! For on one of the worst nights of his life, he is drowning his sorrows in an out of town bar, and in his drunken haze he is transfixed by a stunningly beautiful songbird whose tragic lyrics mirrors the agony in his own heart. Drawn together by a force out of their control, the two strangers seek comfort and solace in each other’s arms for one unforgettable night of carnal bliss! But when the sun rises the next morning the angelic beauty is gone.
Their paths collide yet again 5 months later when Sophie’s car breaks down when she’s passing through Kade’s hometown of Port Clover and winds up in his family run Savages and Saints bar. Little Lola instantly warms to her but Kade? Ummm…not so much! Still reeling from the shock of seeing the mystery woman who’s consumed his every waking thought since their explosive encounter, he is distrustful of her sudden reappearance in his life. But seducing the growly single dad is the last thing on a Sophie’s agenda. Petrified, penniless and on the run from a psycho ex, she is in desperate need of a fresh start and, despite everything, her dire predicament causes the white knight in Kade to ROAR to the surface.
Although Sophie hates accepting charity, she is eternally grateful when “her beautiful stranger” hires her to wait tables/perform at Savages and Saints, offers her the vacant apartment above the bar and provides refuge from the storm of chaos that threatens to engulf her. They agree to keep things strictly professional but the close proximity causes their red hot attraction to burn brighter than ever, and the gravitational pull between them cannot be denied! Can these two wounded spirits find love and healing in each other’s arms…or will deadly repercussions forever tear them asunder?
MY THOUGHTS:
Oh my sweet lord! I could not resist the GRAVITATIONAL pull of this hot, smolderingly sexy, intensely emotional book about two lost broken souls who get a shot at a beautiful new beginning together! I just loved, loved, loved this novel from the first wildly addictive page to the wondrous denouement. This is the second book in the Savages and Saints series, and while it can definitely be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first book TORMENT first.
There’s just something about GRAVITY that just punches you in the gut. The plot is masterfully crafted, teeming with small-town charm, heart palpitating twists and turns, tumultuous angst, and blazing hot interludes!
As always, Ms. Seabrook’s vibrant, engaging, and intensively emotive narrative sucks you in and leaves you UTTERLY TRANSFIXED. I couldn’t bear to put this book down and who could blame me, really? I mean Sophie and Kade have an explosive chemistry, the soul deep connection between them set my heart all aflame, and each and every one of their interactions is pulsating with smoldering heat, palpable discord and deep poignant emotion! ! I adore how the endearingly sweet yet uber secretive heroine brings out the alpha protector—and the fiercely possessive lover–in this gruff single dad who has all but given up on love. And it’s utterly intoxicating to behold the magnetic push-pull between these two kindred spirits as they valiantly try to resist temptation until there is nothing left to do but SURRENDER!
As for the character development? Top notch as always! Kade was, in short, absolutely mesmerizing!!! Talk about a SWOON-WORTHY ALPHA MALE who is tall, dark and ruggedly gorgeous on the outside, yet beneath his battle scarred shield of armor is a man who is so fiercely protective, loyal, kind and chivalrous! His whole world revolves around his work, his family, and most especially his beloved daughter Lola. He will do anything to shield his motherless little girl from being hurt again and has closed himself off from romantic love—with good reason. But then a beautifully wounded songbird bursts into his world and it’s forever changed.
And…yikes…he may have just met his match in the broken down department. Sophie has suffered an unbearable loss that has permanently marked her life, and the haunting sadness that glimmers in her deep, soulful, hazel eyes nearly brings Kade to his knees. Plus she’s in danger and THAT JUST WON’T DO!
I have so much ADMIRATION AND EMPATHY for Sophie who has endured so much hardship and tragedy yet still manages to find beauty in the world again. I was drawn to her aching vulnerability, her strength, her courage, and her resilience. And despite the grief in her own heart, she brings joy and hope not only into Kade’s life but his sweet little girl’s! Her music plays a pivotal role in her healing journey, and it also brings the hero and heroine together in remarkable ways. As does fate and destiny!
And…gah…don’t get me started on the heart-melting scenes with Kade’s precocious little princess! Lola was such a bright ray of sunshine and I couldn’t stop grinning at the things this adorable little scene stealer said and did. And the way she helped filled the holes in the grief-stricken heroine’s fractured heart was just beyond powerful!
I also love the warm, hospitable small-town of Port Clover…and the secondary cast, comprised mostly of the close knit Savage and St. James clans, complimented the main storyline in extraordinary ways. And I found the pacing of the story to be pitch perfect, with plenty of drama and romance and suspense to keep me riveted throughout.!!!
Although this story is virtually flawless, I did have to knock a half star off the rating because of a sinister revelation at the end that, frankly, I found totally unnecessary and just did not sit right with me. But that quibble aside, the story was amazeballs….and omg THAT FINAL CHAPTER!!! You better have tissues handy because this book contains one of the most ENCHANTING STORYBOOK ENDINGS I have ever read! Epic swoony feels, folks!!!
BOTTOM LINE:
GRAVITY pulled me in, swept me up and away and gave me a velvety soft place to fall! At its core, this is a powerful and passionate tale about fate and destiny, hope and healing, overcoming grief, loss, hurt and heartbreak, and, finally, embracing a second chance at love against all odds!
I loved Kade & Sophie’s story.
I lost sleep to finish this book – I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t get this story out of my mind. So finally I decided that sleep was overrated and I NEEDED to know what happened!
Both main characters were guarded, afraid to move forward because of their pasts.
Their connection was H.O.T. and the pull they had to one another was strong.
Gravity may pull them together and keep them grounded but when they come together the fireworks erupt! As I read the steamy scene I seriously thought I felt the earth shake beneath me.
C.M. Seabrook has written a tale that captured my heart and moved me.
When an author is able to touch my emotions so deep and so strong, in my ‘book’ it’s a job well done!
I enjoyed this book, which was the second book in the series but featured a standalone romance between Sophie and Kade. What Sophie had to go through was heartbreaking, as was what poor Kade had to go through when his ex-wife overdosed. Both of the characters had to overcome some really big barriers and together, they showed strength. I loved learning more about the other characters in the Savages and Saints world and this book, as with the prior book in the series, really whets the reader (or in my case, listener’s appetite for this series).
Speaking of listening, I listened to the audiobook and both Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire did great jobs playing the multiple characters. I loved the duet type of reading and together, they really brought the story to life.
#audiobookobsessionreviewer, audiobookobsession, the flock
This story has its ups and downs. I feel for these characters and what they have been through. Unlike the first book in the series the agony attributed to these characters was not self Inflicted. Due to someone else’s actions they feel they are now impaired or broken.
I was so happy to see this one is about Cade! After the last book he really needed a break. Lola is one of my favorite characters in here. She just brightens up each and every page she is on. Sophie past dictates how she functions in the future. Once she meets Cade she might let the past stay there and open her heart for a future.
As usual the brothers really round out this story nicely. Damon is a little more present and we get a touch of Jasper. Abbott is becoming more of a problem and Quinn and Zee are doing the parenting thing.
I listened to this on audio and Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire rocked story this as well. Lola’s voice is done beautifully.
This is the second book in this series and the author did a solid job for Cade’s story.
Gravity (Savages and Saints) (Volume 2) is a perfect addition to this series. Broken souls and suspense entwined into the narrative with romance seeping through the pages. Kade’s daughter Lola is a favourite of mine. I love this one more than book one. I love the dynamics of Kade’s family. This ends with the perfect hea.
Narrators Gunnar Qualen, Jenna St. Clair are the perfect choice for this duet narration. Their inflection fits the characters and narrative perfectly. You get all the right sentiments in the right places. Everything flows through smoothly and at the right pace.
Overall, a intriguing narrative with entertaining narators.
C.M Seabrook again has snared me with her web of masterful writing. This book with shatter your soul, break your heart and then put the pieces back together in a way that will have you looking at the world in a completely new way.
Two broken, damage, lonely strangers meet, they connect and then they depart again, going back to their own personal hells. Two people, changed and scared by their pasts, history so painful that it crushes them both.
But what happens when fate brings the two back together again.
After being stranded in her car on the side of the road, Sophie is help by some good ole fashion kindness. After being taken to new location, she lands a new job and a place to live. Things are finally starting to look up, but what happens when she meets her new boss?
Kade is the single father all the ladies want to sink their claws into, but the only female he has any time for is Lola, his tiny, pig-tailed daughter. Kade is living a murky life, trying to do the best he can with what he has. When his new employee/renter turns out to be the woman he had his one nightstand with months ago, he thinks the worst of her.
What Kade is not prepared for is the Gravity two seem to have going. This book is going to tear into, leave you raw for a while and then come back and soothes you with a happily ever after.
This is the second book in the Savages and Saints series. I love this Series, and I love Kade and Sophie’s story. This is a great single dad story. Kade is protective and possessive, and handsome! Sophie is a strong and beautiful woman. This story has it all! Great characters, great chemistry, and great storyline, filled with mystery, and suspense. I love the happy ending. Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire did an amazing job with the duet narration. They both have a great voice. I enjoyed my listening, and I can’t wait for the next book in the Series. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.
I am on a Seabrook binge! Really enjoying these well written stories and characters!! On to Damon’s story…but really looking forward to Abbott’s!!
4.5 stars
The broken pieces of him matched the broken pieces of her. While it’s always our hope and intent to be whole by ourselves, for some of us it takes help, companionship, love. Someone to fill our voids and help us achieve what we couldn’t on our own. Kade and Sophie are both aching but if they can let go of their fear and insecurities they can find a new happiness they were too grief-stricken to imagine before.
With Kade being big, broody, gorgeous, and celibate, I was almost expecting more intensity and misplaced frustration. But what we got was a soft, feeling man with a heart so big and so fragile that I was almost nervous that Sophie wouldn’t live up to my hopes for her.
She did, though. Sophie was all kinds of fragile herself and it was her misplaced guilt that was breaking her the hardest. The steel in her spine regarding her ex wasn’t always apparent but the evidence of it was in her courage to leave, courage to stay with Kade, and courage to save the ones she could. Her penchant for running often hid that strength but sometimes there’s wisdom in getting away. Unfortunately her past can run just as fast and far as she can.
The drama in the story was angsty and full of intimations of the deeper darkness in everyone so we’re nowhere near the end of everyone’s redemption and healing but we’re making slow, steady progress. Kade and Sophie both had to face up to their grief and pain as individuals but also together. They each brought about that confrontation but also provided the balm necessary to soothe one another. With the sweet, sappy, and childish (in all the best ways) ending I’m so full of feels for them, their journey, and the future they’re building. Such a fantastic story!
Whew, Seabrook’s newest installment in her Savages and Saints series is hot. It’s got all the feels, all the steam, and even the suspense that a great romance should have. I like it much, much more than its predecessor, Torment. Kade had a hot one night stand with a beautiful woman. It was a sexy, but no-strings encounter. Fast forward a few months later when Quinn befriends someone and offers her a job, and guess who Kade’s newest employee is?
Kade’s got only one woman in his life, his daughter Lola, so when Sophie walks back into his life, he’s not really looking for a relationship, especially considering what happened with his last relationship with Lola’s mother. Fortunately, fate has something else in mind for Kade, and the two will soon come to mean more to each other than they had ever been able to imagine.
Gravity is the kind or romance that I love reading – emotionally substantive, electric chemistry, and an excellent cast of secondary characters to round out their world. I wasn’t all that excited for this story, honestly, because the first installment just did not work for me. However, Gravity redeemed this series and it’s got me all excited for more of the Savages and Saints world now.
Kade and Sophie are quite helpless to fight the pull of one another. Sophie worked tirelessly to find a way to get from under the thumb of her ex. His inability to let her go has left her leading a very sheltered life and she needs to make a break once and for all. A chance night spent in the arms of a stranger with a pull on her that she’s never felt before finally makes it evident that she needs to get away to have the life she deserves. She never expected that broken down and penniless on the side she would run headlong into her future that actually includes a blast from the past. Kade knows he needs to lay to rest all the burdens and pain left by Ana now that she is gone. He needs to be strong for Lola and will do anything to protect not only her heart but also his own. He never expected to see the woman that so ensnared his thoughts again after her vanishing but fate has other plans. He thinks he should guard his heart but there is no denying the intense pull that relentlessly surrounds them.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
This is a stay up all night too read, I just had to finish this heartwarming story about these two broken souls. Kade I was feeling for that Man so hard in the previous book, he is raising his daughter Lola all by himself after his ex-wife choose drugs over being a family, (and a whole bunch more stuff that you should read about in the first book of the series) . Kade is a catch but he refuses to put himself out there afraid and refusing to get hurt again. He has an unforgettable one night with a waitress outta town after a very emotional, and whiskey infused day. Then he goes back to being celibate, closed off Kade, father to the Lola princess extrondaire.
Sophia is a waitress at a bar who is just trying to get away, from her Ex, and her past that she deals with every second of the day. She is so strong but thinks she is weak, this woman is all alone and beating herself up over an accident. She is struggling and Kade helps her out one night after her ex shows up to harass her, they share one night of passion that results in Sophia realizing she needs to get away. Months later living in her car, that breaks down she befriends Quinn who offers her a job and a place to stay. Surprise that one night stand is your new Boss.
I adored this couple their was so much holding then back from each other and it took a while for Sophia and Kade to finally let their guards down, and man was it beautiful. Kade hot single Dad so deserved the world, I think he is probably the most Alpha Man that this author has ever written, Love that MAN. Sophia thank goodness she stepped up and refused to let her Ex win, I thought for sure she was going to disappoint me, but didn’t. I loved Lola, her interaction with everyone was adorable.
Kade after having to go identify his wife’s body, swears he will never put his heart through that again until his daughter is grown up. Although the tempting blonde dose make him think about just one night.
Sophie see the handsome man at the bar, she knows her ex has made sure that no man would come near her, when she leaves, and her ex confronts her, the handsome man stops him, and she decides that she wants just one night and the gravity that is pulling them together is hard to resist. When Kade wakes up the woman from the night before is gone like it never happened.
Circumstances bring Sophie and Kade back together and as much as they try to fight their attraction, gravity brings them together. Sophie is worried about the dangers from her past and Kade and worried about what happened with his ex and that Sophie will be the same.
They have a lot of pain in their past that they have to overcome to make it work, but they slowly get into each, others, hearts through the strong pull they have to each other. When Sophie’s past becomes known to Kade, she wonders if she will ever really get a chance at happiness again.
Kade had suffered a lot because of his inability to help his wife. He was alone taking care of his daughter Lola. He is a good man and an excellent father.
Sophie had suffered a lot because of what she lost. Ending her marriage to an abusive husband, she gets away from him but he doesn’t let her go.
Another great book by C. M. Seabrook. The story gets to you so deep you can feel all the emotions with Kade and Sophie: the fear, the insecurity, the sorrow, the loss, the grief, the need to protect the ones you love but also the laugh, the joy, and above all the love they feel.
There are some twists along the story but I didn’t see the one near the end coming.
I can hardly wait to read the next one.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Great continuation to the Savages and Saints series.
Gravity was the story of Sophie and Kade. They both had their fair share of disappointment and tragedy in their life. I shed some tears when reading about what happened with Sophie, the great loss she suffered. Her past just broke my heart. I really liked Kade’s love of his family. He was just a perfect father, his heart full for his little girl. Both characters were so loveable.
I absolutely loved this book. C. M. Seabrook has such an astonishing ability to tell a story.
Great characters paired with a superb plot.
4*
Kade has been hurt before his ex did a number on him, so trusting is hard he’s protective of his daughter Lola.
Sophia meets Kade when he’s unexpectedly passing through at last hoping to rest his demons, but the spark is fierce. However she’s done with men after her ex Charlie.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Another lovely savage Addition
Kade’s book exceeded my expectations! I was already in love with Kade in Zee’s book. But now I see how absolutely swoon worthy and deliciously yummy he truly is. He won me over just by putting his daughter above all. His protectiveness and possessiveness had me hooked. C.M. Seabrook did again with Gravity! This addictive series just keeps getting better.
I could not put this book down. Kade and Sophie are two damaged souls who are drawn to each other through gravity. C.M. Seabrook done a phenomenal job in writing this book.
This is the second book in the Savages and Saints series and it can be read as a standalone. As there are characters mentioned from the first book, I recommend reading it as well. Kade is going through a rough time trying to deal with his past and move forward. He winds up at a bar and meets Sophie. She is a broken woman dealing with her own baggage from the past including a psycho-stalker ex. When Kade finds a man harassing Sophie outside the bar, he steps in and they wind up going back to her place. The next morning Sophie is gone and Kade heads home but he cannot stop thinking about her. By a twist of fate or good luck, Sophie shows up back in Kade’s life again. However, Sophie is harboring a huge secret that may put Kade and his family in danger. Will Sophie stay or will she go? This is one action packed story from start to finish. Once I started this book, I was unable to put it down. There is drama, suspense, and twists and turns that will keep the reader’s rapt attention. You just cannot help but fall for these characters, especially Kade’s daughter Lola who is so wise for someone so young. Ms. Seabrook is one of my go to authors and this book is another demonstration of why. I highly recommend you one-click this book and start reading!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Breaking Free and Learning to Fly
Wow, I think this one is my new favorite from Mrs. Seabrook. The story was beautifully written. The author did an amazing job pulling me in and engrossing me in the story. I could feel the characters heartbreak, pain, passion and love. Kade and Sophie are two people who have been broken by terrible circumstances. They find courage, strength and solace in each other. Together they both learn to let down their defenses and love again.
