All of the feels! This book is packed full of feels and emotional turmoil. It is heartbreaking, raw, and gut-wrenching. Grant and Rio together was everything! You can feel their connection and passion. Rio is broken, her grief is palpable. Grant is caring, protective, and loving, just what Rio needs. He is my new favorite book boyfriend! This is not an easy read but very much a must-read. I need more Grant and Rio!
****ARC generously provided in exchange for an honest review.****
Wow! That’s what I said throughout most of this book. This series is intense to say the least. This is book 4 in the Shark series and cannot be read as a standalone. When I first finished this book I couldn’t gather my thoughts properly, alot happens. Some of which you don’t really want to happen but can’t keep from reading! I read this in two sittings so to me that’s how you know it’s an amazing read. In this book we get to see who Rio is and how Rio’s mind works. She is definitely a special charater who has her own demons but is trying to live her best life despite. She is extremely witty and fiesty. She is smart and loyal and independent. We know she is important to Abbigale and we know she is important to Grant. Grant is Sebastian’s best friend. He came from the same roughness growing up and he is successful and driven. He has a love for life and is a playful soul. He has the backs of those be cares for most. Two really amazing characters. Unfortunately Rio experiences devastation, a loss and a void in her life that will never be filled the same way again. This story takes us down the path of healing and coping and how there should be no wrong way to do the two. Grant just wants to be there for Rio and show her she is not alone. Unavoidable sparks turn into a buring flame between Rio and Grant. If their chemistry doesn’t consume you then you’re reading this book wrong!!! As always Angel and Victoria give us an incredible storyline and loveable characters. They give us shocks and omg’s and leave us with a shocking ending. Rio and Grant’s story is far from over and I can’t wait to see where their relationship goes. The one negative, and I really even hate calling it a negative because this was an incredible book, but I was very not happy with the way Abbi and Bas were portrayed in this. They are two incredibly important characters that pretty much shocked me with their actions and for me did not seem like the two characters who I fell in love with in the first 3 books. True to Angel and Victoria they will keep bringing the heat and twists and make it all right in the end, I’m sure! I highly recommend this series, you’ll be fall in love with their writing immediately!
I’ve had a love-hate relationship with Bas since the beginning.
Abbi, I had more faith in her. Right now?
I hope the swell from the incoming storm washes them both away!
I don’t want to spoil this…
So you remember what a player Grant is?
Living life to the fullest?
Always the comedic relief?
No strings attached love ’em till they worship at your alter man w40re?
He just found his goddess.
Rio, I’m so sorry.
The emotions this brought forth – I feel like I survived a tornado.
Laughter, friendship, heartache, fear, hopelessness, the deep pain of betrayal – It is all here.
I was laughing one minute and my heart was shattering the next.
So lost
So alone
I am afraid to close my eyes
This ends on a sad note or maybe… I am not sure how to word it.
I have hope but I know the journey is going to be hard. It will test the bonds of friendship. Some will not survive others will become unbreakable.
I had been waiting so long for Grant and Rio’s story. Angel and Victoria delivered an amazing story here, you can feel the emotions poor from this book… Loss, grief, betrayal and vengeance, even mental illness. This story touched my soul. Heart breaking and tragic at times, yet romantic and sensual. I was on a non-stop emotional rollercoaster and I didn’t want to get off.
A whirlwind of an emotions that will leave you sobbing and breathless. I can’t put into words how incredible this book is. The writing is so complex and I had to finish this book in one sitting. It’s beautiful, raw and broke my heart. The characters are easy to connect with but sometimes I wanted to shake them. This is one book you need to get your hands on. It’s more of an experience. I can’t wait for the next book.
I don’t think anything I say will give this book justice. I believe this is the authors’ best work to date. I loved Shark’s Edge but Grant and Rio’s story is really something else. You can tell the authors poured their hearts and souls into this story as it is one hell of an emotional ride. Grant is so swoon-worthy, you get to see another side to him, the gentle and supportive side of him as well as his self-control around Rio. There are secrets, there are things I need to know more about, and I can’t wait for their story to continue!
GRANT’S HEAT is the fourth instalment in the contemporary, adult SHARK’S EDGE erotic, romance series, and the first instalment focusing on billionaire Grant Twombley, and caterer Rio ‘Blaze’ Gibson. GRANT’S HEAT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion. Grant and Rio were first introduced in books 1-3 of Shark’s Edge.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Grant and Rio) GRANT’S HEAT follows the building but forbidden relationships between billionaire Grant Twombley, and caterer Rio Gibson. Grant Twombley’s attraction and need for Rio Gibson burns hotter with each encounter but Rio’s life is about to spiral out of control, as she falls deeper into an abyss of fire and flame. Rio Gibson struggles with issues of mental illness, and a personal loss sends Rio over the edge forcing our hero to cover for the woman with whom he is falling in love but Rio’s behaviour is placing many lives at risk, and Grant’s need to protect Rio further complicates his partnership with Sebastian Shark, and Shark Enterprises. What ensues is the building but struggling relationship between Grant and Rio, and the potential fall-out as Rio begins to alienate her friends, threatening a life long relationship in the process when her conduct and demeanor continues to exhibit a downward spiral.
The relationship between Grant and Rio begins as one of friendship in books one to three but Grant wants something more from a woman who is currently involved with someone else. Unable to keep his distance Grant becomes Rio’s sounding board and system of support when her life begins to spiral out of control. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but I take issue with the use of a certain four-letter word.
The colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters include Grant’s business partners Sebastian Shark and his fiancé Abbigail Gibson, as well as Elijah Banks; and Rio’s co-worker Hannah Farsey, a young woman filling in while Abbi is on maternity leave.
GRANT’S HEAT is a story of loss, grief, struggle and control; a story of betrayal and vengeance; of family, friendship, mental illness and the need for understanding, and emotional help. The premise is heart breaking, emotional and edgy; the characters are flawed and tragic; the romance is sensual and provocative. GRANT’S HEAT ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
I have really enjoyed the Shark’s Rise Series the first three books I blew through but this one was a bit of a struggle for me. Let me say that I really like both Grant and Rio, I have since I first met them in the other books. Grant is the fixer he always fixes problems, he is Sebastian’s right hand man they have grown up together and always had each others back. Rio is the saucy little spitfire and co-owner of Abstract Catering with her SIL Abbi and they have always had their ups and downs because they view things in a different light. The story was well written and page turning. It also provided you a better look at characters from a new light such as Abbi and Sebastian. It provided us better insight to Grant and Rio. The issue for me was that the attraction that Grant and Rio shared and her being married now I know that it happens and it could be I’m wired wrong for it. I know that Grant did not touch her or anything but for me it just bugged me that he was dying to do just that. Rio is happily married to Sean and unfortunately events that occur beyond anyone’s control hinder Rio’s mental health and that is one of her struggles that she has endured her entire life and nobody knows exactly what she has to deal with on a daily basis but herself. Overall I liked it but could not bring myself to love it. Others I am sure will love it and I know not every book is for everyone. It is still defiantly worth the read I give it 3.5 stars. It is well written, plenty of steam, page turning.
This book has everything you can imagine. Its full of intense pain and love. The love one person can have have for someone is amazing. The depth of feeling is phenomenal. Grant proves himself time and time again. Get your tissues ready and enjoy the ride. This is the best one yet! Cant wait to read more.
Grant Twomley -COO of Shark Enterprise
Rio Gibson -Co-owner of Abstract Catering
Grant is an alpha and has proven to be a good friend to Rio.
Rio needs that friendship when she receives some news that tests her emotional state. Grant is right there, to support her, be that friend she needs.
This book had my every emotion within me coming out.
Angel Payne and Victoria Blue, really knocked it out of the park with Grant’s Heat. It is one of their best written. I can’t wait for Grant’s Flame. I know it will be just as good.
Grant’s Heat is book four in the Shark’s Edge series but we have shifted from Sebastian and Abbigail to the relationship growing between Grant and Rio and this one is just as spicey as the previous books with the continuous underlying current of danger running throughout.
Grant and Rio have been friends but when Rio’s life takes an unexpected turn and she is having trouble dealing with it, Grant is their to pick up the pieces or at least he is trying to and now their relationship has also taken a turn that neither may be ready for. This is not the end to their story so get ready. I know I am excited to see where this story is taking us.
Grant Towmbley is a very successful man who is working for his best friend Sebastian Shark. Grant is the fixer of any major issues that comes up because he always has a solution. Grant spent a lot of time with Rio Gibson (Sebastian’s fiancee’s best friend and sister in law) when Sebastian takes Abbigail to a safe house and Grant was “volunteered” to help Rio with the catering business. The two got to know each other and even though there was an attraction there, they were able to be just friends. This friendship continued so Grant knows what is going on in Rio’s personal life and tries to help her. When one of the foreman on the Edge building quits, Grant talks to Sebastian about hiring Rio’s husband for the job. The man has the qualifications for the job, Grant would be able to help Rio’s financial situation and her goal to have a baby.
When tragedy strikes and Rio is in pain, Grant vows to be there for her and help her in anyway he can. The only problem is that Rio blames Sebastian for the situation which puts Grant in a difficult position. I love how Grant is always there for anybody that he cares about and would do anything he can to fix any situation. I understand Rio’s pain but I’m not sure I agree with her anger. Sebastian wasn’t personally involved even though it happened on the job site.
I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next with Rio and Grant, the investigation into the tragedy, how Rio is going to deal with her past and the secrets that she’s carrying that only Grant knows about, if/when more threats come at Sebastian Shark and his business empire, and the relationships between Sebastian/Rio, Rio/Abbigail, Rio/Grant, Grant/Sebastian, etc. There are so many things going on and I am impatiently waiting for the next book to find out more!
Shark’s Heat by Angel Payne & Victoria Blue is book 4 in the Shark’s Edge Series. This is the story of Grant Twombley and Rio Gibson. I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one. I do feel you should read them in order to understand the ongoing backstory. But, if you wish to start the series here you could. This does end with a cliffhanger setting us up for the next installment in their story. Rio is Sebastien Shark’s sister in law and Grant is Sebastien’s right hand man along with being his friend. But this book will have Grant still working to keep everyone safe and to work to take down the threats. But is also shows us a different side to Grant who can have anything and anyone he wants but since first spotting Rio, she has kept him captivated with feelings. But, his feelings can’t go anywhere but friendship…for now.
Can’t wait for the next installment!
Rio’s life is slowly spiraling down the path of destruction. Her dark secret weighs heavily on her shoulders. Her emotional turmoil is heartbreaking.
Grant is good friends with Blaze. He feels the magnetic pull but can’t do anything about it. He has morals. She’s married.
When tragedy strikes Rio’s secret is revealed. The only person she can trust is Grant.
Grant’s Heat will have your head spinning with emotions. A page turner.
I definitely recommend this series!
Sebastien Shark has a world of problems at his feet. But this isn’t his story. This is the story of his best friend, Grant Twombley, and his sister-in-law, Rio Gibson. Rio is in a bad place. She’s having fertility issues, money issues and her husband is working so much he is never home. Her best friend is hugely pregnant and her family lives on the other coast. The only friend she has to turn to is Grant. Grant is a problem solver and wants to help fix Rio’s issues. But he has a problem of his own. He is falling for a married woman. Grant tries to help and gets Rio’s husband a better job with better benefits at Sebastien’s building site. However, it goes to hell in a hand basket when there’s an accident. Grant steps in to try and help Rio cope. He is the only one able; she won’t let anyone else near her. Grant’s fascination with Rio gets more intense the more he helps her. Opinion I loved Sebastien’s story but I think I’ll love Grant’s more. I was quite frustrated when seeing the crappy side of Sebastien in this story. He is out for himself and Abbi only. He doesn’t mind helping but when push comes to shove, he will pick himself and Abbi and forget the rest. The ups and downs of this story had me laughing and crying. I was so mesmerized by their story that I couldn’t put it down, even when my eyes told me how tired I was. I definitely am in awe of what has transpired between Grant and Rio and cannot wait until I get my hands on the next story. I’ve said it before but this is by far my favorite series published by Waterhouse. I hope that it continues with the third best friend after Grant’s story is done. Well done ladies! A big thanks to Bare Naked Words for providing me with an ARC of this book.
4.5 Star Review of Grant’s Heat (Shark’s #4) by Angel Payne & Victoria Blue
Grant’s Heat is the third book in the latest collaboration between Angel Payne and Victoria Blue. Having read several books from this writing duo, I was expecting heat, spice, suspense and danger and that is exactly what I got. Such is the flow of this writing duo, I have no idea where one author finished and the other took over.
Grant Twombley is a an alpha, dominating male focused on achieving his business goals and as Sebastian Shark’s right hand man, he is in a position of power and influence. It also makes for a busy and at times dangerous life since the Shark empire is surrounded by competitors that would love to destroy them and bring them down. Grant is a keeper of secrets and not only for those who employ him.
Rio Gibson is also a woman with secrets and when her life is thrown into turmoil, she blames the Shark’s. However she wasn’t counting on the attractive man who is so close to the family who she blames for destroying her world.
The story was passionate, fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. I was riveted from the fist to the last chapter and could not put it down.
While sparks fly when they meet, it is obvious that the chemistry that sizzles between them is off the charts. Will the passion that ignites burn them or could it be the start of something amazing? One click and find out.
The duo of Angel Payne and Victoria Blue are amazing on any given day but this book, it took my words after I read it. Between the story line of characters Grant Twombley and Rio Gibson. The emotion shone throughout the book. It was breathtakingly, painfully beautiful. As these two become intertwined in each others lives.
Where to start.. I don’t seem to have the right words to be able to express how I feel about this book/series. It has been a roller-coaster ride of emotions and an indescribable experience that I don’t want to end! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and getting a better understanding of Grant & Rio’s story and their relationship. Angel and Victoria have outdone themselves with this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
*I received an ARC for an honest review*
Angel keeps the Shark’s Edge series more and more interesting. Grant is Sebastian’s best friend and will do anything for each other, but when Grant starts becoming friends with Rio. Now who will he stand by, Sab or Rio? But as things start changing in their lives Grant has to choose and even if he ignores the facts of what’s happening he will do anything in his power to protect Rio. Rio has her own demons she’s fighting, but when ever Grant’s around she feels his power he seems to have to keep her calm and make her feel better about herself and her circumstances. Now they both have to find a way to keep themselves happy and to stay safe in the meantime.
GRANT’S HEAT (Shark’s Edge Book #4) By Angel Payne & Victoria Blue
Angel Payne & Victoria Blue are continuing on with the magic they are creating with this 4th book, Grant’s Heat. What a great addition to the story this is! Grant called to me during books 1-3, and I knew he would be an absolutely riveting character….and he certainly is! He is a devoted second in command and best friend of Bas Shark and a devoted friend to Rio. This has everything, devastating heart ache, angst, drama, off the charts chemistry and passion. Grant’s Heat tears the fabric of the heart right in half, and slowly starts to work towards rebuilding it. Grant and Rio are so multi faceted, you have to fall in love with them and their many layers. I will be in cliffhanger hell for a while now, I simply cannot wait until book 5! Angel & Victoria, you two set the bar so unbelievably high with each book, and still surpass the last one! Congrats ladies!! Wish I could give this 25 stars, but I will give it 5.
