A hilarious new mystery series from USA TODAY Bestselling Author Harper Lin!Barbara Gold, a retired CIA agent, is bored out of her skull in Cheerville, a sleepy town in New England—until a man is poisoned during a book club meeting for seniors. Everyone thinks Lucien had a heart attack, but from his symptoms, Barbara knows someone has slipped poisoned into his cake or drink. Even though she is no … cake or drink. Even though she is no longer under cover, Barbara feels as if she’s only playing the part of a sweet grandmother, but this may just be her most useful cover yet.
The clock ticks as she investigates who in the Cheerville Active Readers’ Society would want Lucien dead. It’s only a matter of time before his death is declared murder and the police start hounding everyone.
Suddenly Barbara’s CIA training is useful again, and Cheerville is starting to seem not so dull after all…
Read the action-packed first book (30,000 words) in the Secret Agent Granny mystery series.

The heroine is a great character. I loved the irreverent way she commented on her age and then went ahead and been a bad-ass sleuth anyway. A bit short, but then Barbara Gold is the heroine of more than one book.
I have just finished a 1/2 dozen of Harper Lin’s books and was suitably impressed to read them all, one after the other. She does not write the same book twice and shows some interesting plot lines. I enjoyed them all for light reading and a quick getaway from the stresses of today’s living…
Fun read with an unusual protagonist. Definitely checking out others in this series because what’s not to like about a retired CIA agent with a dodgy hip.
Looking forward to reading this whole series. Granny is tough and is packing. She what she gets herself into and out of.
Retired secret agent Barbara Gold is somewhat at loose ends in retirement when an acquaintance is poisoned at a birthday party. She is well equipped to follow the clues that lead to the identity of the murderer. Granny is a good character, and if this were a television series I would definitely make it a point to tune in.
Characters were realistic!
Loved the book. It was short but funny, and the descriptions of characters was rather sarcastic. The character descriptions were spot on. One could easily picture and had most likely dealt with someone like them. “Reading is the only cool way to get high!” Just one of few good quotes in the book.
This book is funny cozy mystery that is sure to please.
Cute short story.
I adore Granny Barbara. She’s funny, sarcastic, witty and bored to death. Ms Lin certainly knows how to grab your attention and hold it to the end. This whimsical story is intriguing and interesting. I think it’s truly a great read
I would recommend it
Enjoyed very much!

I loved listening to this audio book, I was smiling almost the whole time I listened to the story. I look forward to the other books in this series.
This book had a good story, but it was over simplified and made “Granny” look like an idiot.
I didn’t finish it, I’ve liked other books by her but not this one. Not sure why just couldn’t get into it.
It’s a lot of fun to read a witty story about a strong female protagonist who is close to my own age. It’s especially fun when said character still kicks butt and takes names. Smart and definitely entertaining.
Only read part of it and lose interest.
good to see an older hero who is so much more than her neighbors see
Loved this book for it’s fun granny and her unusual background. Love having characters that are older and lived a little. fun and easy read.
Really good book
