A chance encounter at the beach causes sparks to fly…
Emma Winsor is in her final year of college, choreographing a dance number for her final, and applying to dance schools in New York. Her father drags her to the beach for a Newport Beach Seagulls’ event, something he’s done with her since the team was first created in 1993. In fact, he’s had season tickets for the same amount of time, and … for the same amount of time, and since Emma’s mother left them when Emma was three, she has been her father’s date ever since.
Kyle Underwood is a first line right winger for the Newport Beach Seagulls. He’s an instigator on the ice, the type of player who rubs his mouth, gets under the skin; the kind of player who is hated unless on the team. He’s happy being single, dating around, and focusing on his passion: hockey. Up until he decides to talk to Emma Winsor, daughter of one of the Gulls’ season ticket holders. He thinks she’ll be like every other puck bunny who attends these fan events but she doesn’t even know his name.
She’s different. He has to have her.
Will Emma take a chance on a notorious bachelor hockey player? Can Kyle convince her that he’s just as different as he is?

If you are a fan of sports romance you will love Kyle and Emma’s story. Emma’s thing is dancing although she spends a lot of time at hockey games with her dad which is where Kyle comes in. This story is your typical boy meets girl and girl ignores boy who becomes obsessed with the chase.

This is a brand new author for me but the story sounded interesting and so I read it. Take in mind I have never read the author before or this series at all. This is book 2 in the series but book 1 is about a murder and mystery and thats not something I wanted to read about so I skipped it.
Was I lost in this story? No, but the events in the first book are a big part of this story here as well. Its discussed ALOt so at times it was weird not knowing what happened in the first book. This is a story about Emma, a senior in college who loves two thing, her father and dancing. And truly they both are things she is extremely committed too.
Her father is committed to three things: Emma, NHL team of which he goes to every home game to cheer them on, and his law career. Emmas mother abandoned her when she was very young and that abandonement fear has been an issue in forming a romantic relationship.
This story is told entirely in the first person with only Emma’s viewpoint and I am not a fan of that way to tell a story, I like hearing others POV. That said I felt this story was extremely immature and that was why I did not enjoy it. Now Emma is young and Kyle is also young, but she just seemed more like an 18 year old than a something 20 year old.
She meets Kyle at a charity event and he seems like a great guy, though in the romance part of this story, things moves extremely slowly. For a novella that was an issue for me. Also we don’t hear Kyle’s POV from meeting Emma throuhout the story and it really needed his thoughts because Emma couldn’t make me love this story with her immature thoughts.
