She thought he was a safe bet. She was wrong… craved.
Doug knows he’s in trouble. Willa Stanton is everything he’s ever wanted, and way too much for him to handle. Their on-camera chemistry is making it hard for him to keep his true feelings under wraps. And off-camera is even worse: she’s making friends with his cat, kicking his butt in Gin Rummy, and making him wish he could be that soft place for her to land.
The closer they get, the harder it is to stick with the plan. She’s afraid of love. He’s afraid of getting played. What happens when the beauty falls for the geek?

A gem of a story. I love how the male love interest isn’t chiseled or classically handsome. The author builds this beauty in him that’s so irresistible it makes all the good looking guys pale by comparison. The depth and sweetness of him are what make him incredibly attractive and I fell in love! The story is cute, has villains we hate, and a hero and heroine we’re rooting for. Excellent book.
I found the story line to be confusing and frustrating. The back and forth between what was suppose to be real and what was faked felt very ‘high-school romance’ and definitely not hollywood. I cant say that I liked this one.
I received an advance readers copy and this is my honest opinion.
This was an easy, fun, read just the thing to escape from the doldrums of work. Story was clean and I loved Doug’s character the best. Even I was falling for him by mid-book. Willa was a bit wishy washy as the lines of real and reality blurred on the Triple Threat TV show but she figured out that she needed to commit. I thought the story ended a little abruptly after all the angst, but still a fun, clean, and enjoyable story.
I was not sure if I would like this! The set up had me worried! The tough no nonsense girl and the tender hearted sweet guy. I thought of a young
Christopher Eccleston as Doug and Gemma Arterton as Willa:} WOuldn’t that be perfect. This was a nail bitter with all the tension! Poor Doug the guy got put threw the ringer! Loved how she wrote this. You didn’t get into their lives too deep but just enough to see what was going on and why it was causeing them such issues. Really enjoyed this one:}
Oh my goodness! Reality TV in a book with the drama happening both “on the air” and off!!! This was the PERFECT escape and I savored every moment I could in this book.

I always enjoy Rachel John’s books. This was a fun read and how seemingly opposites attract. The writting is witty and good dialogue. I like how the romance develops and it’s clean. Spot on how probably reality t.v. really is and all the drama and “scripts”. I didn’t know how I’d like the alternating views with each chapter but I didn’t have a problem with it. Sometimes when I read I wish I knew what the other main character was thinking. Good character growth for the h. The H was great!
This is such a fun romance! Doug is a good-looking geek that Willa trusts to have a fake romance with her on a TV show that she pitched. With the understanding of a fake romance, it’s hard for Doug to tell what’s real and what’s for the show. I really liked both characters and could empathize with them. The plot has some twists and turns and moves at a good pace. I like Rachel John’s work and plan to read more of her books. I recommend this to clean/wholesome romance readers and to rom/com readers. I obtained a copy through KU.
This book was so much fun to read.
The author’s characters are so engaging and the plot is well-written.
This series is sure to be a hit.
I haven’t read many of this author’s books but I’m looking for more.
I’m really enjoying this series. Reality shows make up so much of TV lately. This was such a great take on American Idol and other talent shows and then adding in the corny kids show where they met and you have a great connection with anyone who has ever watched TV. (Who doesn’t love the silly villain OR the Simon Cowells).
Clean romance, great connection with both the readers and other family and friends in the book, believable chemistry, just all around an unexpected joy. I want more! (In fact, I did go looking for more and read them)
Willa and Doug seem like an unlikely match from the beginning of the story. She is very ambitious and he feels she is out of his league. The story line follows the production of a reality show and the frustrating manipulation of the producer to get his way thwarting Willa and Doug’s budding romance. But all is well that ends will and the journey there makes for a fun trip. I recommend this book wholeheartedly.
When I realized the setting was reality TV, I was prepared to endure; reality TV is NOT my thing. However, the real story was so much more than the setting. It was the juxtaposition of opposing perceptions, the conflict, the inability to believe in self, etc. Loved it.
