Friends are what we agree to be, but some romances deserve a second chance.Finley She was my first everything—first love, first real kiss, first time. Even though we came from different worlds, Georgette Taylor understood me. She was mine and I was hers. Georgette
I haven’t seen Finley Lawson in five years.
The day I walked away from him—or ran, rather—was the hardest day of my life.
My only regret is losing touch with him.
I loved him and he loved me.
And then I threw it all away.
I thought the past was in the past until I walked into a bar in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve and smackdab into the boy I used to love, who is now a man.
Like, a really hot man.
And I realize, every feeling I ever felt for him is still alive and well.

“Finley Lawson… the boy I loved… the boy I left behind.”
Y’all…I’m such a sucker for second chance romance and I’m a sucker for Jiffy Kate books!!! I probably say this every time they have a release….I can’t wait to get my hands on it!! Lol
Of course Good Times didn’t disappoint..Jiffy Kate books give me that slow burn and a smoken hawt romance I crave from them!!
BTW I have a new favorite couple by this duo. and love love this cover!!
Jiffy Kate are one of my favorite authors. I love how they add so much detail around Mardi Gras and New Orleans into this story.
This is a wonderful second chance at love that is a sweet and fun read. I love the added angst and wonderful characters.
I listened to the audiobook and the narration is fantastic!
Good Times ended up being far more light-hearted than the blurb led me to believe. But then again, when I look at the library of the authors that make up Jiffy Kate and their growing contributions to the Penny Reid universe, I can see why.
Fin and Jette grew up together in Texas, and it’s your story of a poor boy and a rich girl. I enjoyed this version of that story because Fin is not broody, depressed, or grumpy about his life. This guy has a joy for life and love of his art that is evident from the first pages of the book. And that, someone who loves their craft and loves the life they have pursuing that art is lovely to behold. It immediately set a tone for the book that drew me in.
I wondered if things were going to get angsty with Jette’s hesitancy, but that cleared itself up, and we got to enjoy from that point on the reunion of these two young loves. There were some hiccups and stumbles along the way, but both of these people were just enjoyable. Frequently I read books where I have no desire to go hang out with the characters although I enjoy the story. I want to hang out with Fin and Jette, mainly to hear Fin play the saxophone.
Good Times has characters from Jiffy Kate’s previous books, and I always find that engaging and generally it drives me to read more books from their catalog. Of course, it does, I must know all the stories now. However, you can read Good Times as a standalone and be quite content with a genuinely good story.
Good Times is the 4th book in the French Quarter series. This best friends to lovers, second chance romance held my interest until the end. There was a love triangle, some angst, some sweet and sexy moments. Finn and Jette were two likable characters and you would be rooting for them through out the story. I loved that characters from the previous books make appearances in this novel. This was a slow burn romance with a developed storyline and it will make you believe in fate. The author did an amazing job giving us a feel for New Orleans and it feels like you were there. I enjoyed this novel. It was a good read and I would recommend it to all lovers of second chance romance.
One thing I know for sure when reading a Jiffy Kate book is that wanderlust is guaranteed. They have the ability to transport you to the place and make you feel you are there, to the point where you will not want to leave! Each book of the French Quarter series gives an accurate description of New Orleans that had me thinking both writers have lived there for years (they actually live in different states in case someone is wondering).
Good Times, the fourth book of the series, captures the musical and artsy spirit of Crescent City. Finley Lawson is a talented sax player who is finding his way in New Orleans after moving from Dallas. We meet him first in Neutral Grounds. Not only he is ridiculously good-looking, but he is also sweet and a really good guy. Fate and Camille Benoit (Chasing Castles) will bring his former high school love, Georgette Taylor, to the city. They haven’t seen each other in five years. The Big Easy, and the talented writing of Jiffy Kate, will give them a second chance at love, rediscovering who they are, and at finding the missing pieces.
Good Times is about forgiveness and true love. A love that is meant to be. But it is also about owning your mistakes and being true to yourself. One of my favorite things about this book was the cameos made by Jiffy Kate’s other well-loved characters. It was a real treat to catch up with all of them! This speaks greatly of their ability to create unforgettable and lovable characters, who feel like family.
4.5 Cranky Stars
I have adored this series since book one. I’m a sucker for a book set in my hometown of New Orleans. You can tell Jiffy Kate has a love for this vibrant city because it shows in their writing. The way they describe the city and its food and citizens makes you want to take a lazy walk around the French Quarter while eating delicious food. Good Times is the story of Georgette and Finley. Lovers from different upbringings who find each other again after many years.
Georgette feels stagnant in New York City with her art dealer job and mediocre boyfriend. Her life isn’t about living its about surviving. When she impulsively applies and accepts a job in Nola her life becomes fun again. She is working for Camille Benoit-Landry and she finally feels at home in this city with these people. In the back of her mind she’s always thought about Finley and their time together. What she doesn’t realize is that at a party her past would show up and she doesn’t know how to process this. Finley has been in Nola recognizing his dream of being a saxophone player. He knows the gigs aren’t the big time, but his love of the music is all he needs. He also busks on the corner of Royal. Fin has always thought of Jette even going as far to find her when she first left but ultimately, he wanted her to be happy and knowing she’s out in the world is all he needs. He didn’t expect the curly blonde beauty to appear at a party and he’s taken back. Jette is in his town and he will stop at nothing to have her again.
I really like Jette and Finley. Their love was so pure and innocent in a lot of ways. I guess because when they started they were just teenagers who experienced a lot of first together. I also love the crew of the French Quarter from CeCe and Shep to Shaw and Avery and Carys and the Blue Bayou crew. I didn’t like her parents or Trevor. Just saying his name is like blah. Jette and Finley are proof that two people from different sides of the track can be perfect for each other.
Good Times by Jiffy Kate is the fourth book in their French Quarter Collection series. This can be read as a standalone but it was good and the other characters stories seemed intriguing from what I saw of them as secondary characters in this story. Finn and Jette’s story is told in dual POV adn is heartwarming, to say the least. Childhood sweethearts that separated when jette left for college, they reunite, by accident, in New Orleans and also fall into the same circle of friends. This not only stabilizes their connection with each other but also provides them both with a solid support group and some much needed family you choose.
A feel good romance set in New Orleans that will put you in the Mardi Gras Spirit for sure!Makes me want to read more about ALL the characters I met here! These two wonderful characters thought they had lost each other, only to find themselves and each other in New Orleans. A slow but wonderful build between these two with lots of secondary characters you will adore. Enjoy!
Good Times is a sweet second chance romance between Georgette (a.k.a. Jette) and Finley who were once best friends but have not seen each other in five years. When Jette moves to New Orleans for a new job opportunity, she is reunited with Finley who has also recently moved to New Orleans for his musical career.
I’ve got to say I love that fact that the wonderfully colorful and vibrant city of New Orleans is also a primary character in Good Times. The authors paint such a wonderful picture of NOLA, one of my favorite cities, I was transported back to NOLA with their descriptions of locations, vibe of NOLA, and Mardi Gras!
Thanks to the authors for an ARC of the book in exchange for my honest review.
This is a second chance romance. Finley is a musician that is making his way in New Orleans after the love of his life bolted on him five years ago, no goodbye, not a word Georgette just left his world in the blink of an eye. However now she’s where he calls home and Finley is not sure what to do about the situation. The story was well written and page turning. Definitely a must read it can be read as a stand-alone.
This book is the epitome of a good time! Good Times definitely lives up to it’s name and I couldn’t put it down once I started. Jette and Finn will pull you in and have you devouring every page. This is an all-around feel good story, with appearances from other characters you know and love. Plenty of laughter and romance to be had, making it my favorite book in the series so far!
Can FATE be that cruel and place two people is the same town after so many years. Is it possible to give that person a second chance if they left without a word?
GOOD TIMES is the fourth book in the French Quarter Collection series by Jiffy Kate. Finley and Georgette were High School sweethearts but dreams and life had them going in two different directions. Now with them back in the same city, can they just go back to being friends or give their relationship a second chance?
You don’t need to read the other three books to enjoy Finn and Jette’s story but I suggest you do. Jiffy Kate’s writing is amazing, you will feel like you are right in NOLA with these characters.
So here’s the thing. Second chance romance can be iffy. Too often, I’m not entirely convinced about the reason it ended in the first place. Then there’s the nagging feeling that hey, maybe they’ve changed and isn’t it likely that it no longer makes sense to be with that person? So what I’m saying is, I’m always a little cautious going in to these stories.
On the other hand, I have literally never read anything by Jiffy Kate that I haven’t enjoyed. So I trusted that I would at least have fun while reading the book. Plus I Love the rest of the series, so it’d be a treat to read about my fav characters anyway, right? So I went in cautiously optimistic, and… I was blown away. This book is so freaking good!
The very first page just plunges you right into the vibe of New Orleans, and that’s it. You’re hooked. And Finn and Jette have such great chemistry. I really enjoyed seeing them interact in the present, while also gradually learning more about their past… the image of them meeting as kids in school was strangely endearing. Plus I like that in the present, they’re both very clear about what they want, be it in their careers, or with each other.
Two standouts in this book: one is the cameos from alllll my fav characters (I mean, I would’ve loved more Mav, because I always love more Mav, but it was so good to see a lot of Cami, and Shep and Cece). There’s even Lola Carradine and my darling Jules! And the second thing is New Orleans. It’s a living, breathing presence in this book. I’ve never been, but honestly Jiffy Kate write New Orleans with such love and give it so much life, I’m sure it won’t feel like a strange new place when I do visit!
Overall, this proved to be a lovely read, very relaxing, and it made me smile pretty much throughout. I naturally enjoyed it a whole lot also because I’ve read the earlier books, so seeing the other characters who kept popping up was awesome, but Finn and Jette are enough to make you enjoy the story even if this is your first Jk book. Besides, there’s even a cute dog with little doggy shoes, and I mean, everyone needs that mental picture in their minds, tbh.
(And the little sneak peek at the end of the book about the next Reveller’s book already got me excited)
Finley (Finn) and Georgette are childhood sweethearts that haven’t seen each other in 5 years. Then they find each other again in the French quarter. Finn has questions, he thought him and Georgette were forever. But when she left him five years ago without any explanation. He was left with questions of why and half his heart. Will Finn finally get his answers? Finn is an amazing guy. So sweet and caring. This is a sweet and heartfelt story about forgiveness and love. Great fourth book in the Series.
I received a Advanced Readers Copy and I’m leaving a voluntary review.
I loved reading this second-chance romance set in the French Quarter. Finley and Jette are well-written, interesting characters, and the story was interesting and fun to read. Jette has to work to break away from her domineering parents, and is creating a new life for herself. Finely is a really nice guy, who is a wonderfully supportive of his friends, and especially Jette. They were best friends and hs sweethearts, and we witness all they go through to get back together.
I especially enjoyed meeting back up with so many of the characters from other books by the authors, from their Finding Focus and previous French Quarter books.
This book starts with Finley at a club where he will be playing his saxophone on NYE. As he is mingling with friends the last person he expected to see, Georgette aka Jette walks in and throws him for a loop. Jette was his first everything as a teen but most importantly his first heart break because she walked away after their senior year of HS and never looked back. But now here she is back in his life and she has a long distance boyfriend but Finley still can’t seem to stay away.
I enjoyed this even though there was a triangle – not one of my favorite tropes. But it was very well done. Finely was super sweet and protective and loving. I really liked how easy they were able to fall into each other again and how comfortable it was. I liked how Jette didn’t cross a line until she ended things with her BF. My only real issue is that it seemed to predictable and slow to start. But I still enjoyed Jette and Finely’s story and would recommend it.
This was a great second chance romance! Jiffy Kate sure know how to draw you into a book from the very beginning making sure you won’t want to put it down! I know because I pretty much read this book in one sitting!!! This was a sweet romance with no unnecessary drama! I would definitely recommend this book and the rest of the series.
Received an arc for an honest review
Having read the other French Quarter Collection books I couldn’t wait for this one! I’ve wanted to read more of this duo’s work this year and I’m so very glad that I got the chance to with Good Times! I really enjoyed this story!
Georgette and Finley’s journey touched my heart! I loved that there was history between these two and seeing what they were passionate about in their lives.
I fell head over heels for Finley! The more I kept on reading the more I fell for Georgette as well! Getting to be in their minds made me feel even more connected to them and their emotions.
It made me so happy to be back in New Orleans / this series!
With Good Times, the Jiffy Kate duo have created a journey filled with heart and feels! I had to finish reading it in one sitting. This series and it’s characters continue to bring me so much joy!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the authors*
***I received an ebook copy from the author at no cost***
This book was the perfect distraction from everything else currently taking place in the world.
Good Times is a second-chance romance packed with southern charm, all the feels, and a HEA. Finley recently relocated to New Orleans. He plays the sax and knows the Landry brothers. (Hello!!!! My favorite cast of characters from any JK books.) He’s getting adjusted to the city, making connections, and finding himself fitting in perfectly with the Landry’s group of friends. Georgette has also recently come to NOLA and, coincidentally, happens to be the girl Finley was head over heels for when the two were teens.
This book had everything I’ve come to expect from a Jiffy Kate novel. The friendships are strong and the circle feels more like a family. There’s funny banter and everyone has one another’s back. The connection between Finley and Georgette is palpable and sweet. My heart was happy when I was reading and there were plenty of times when I had warm fuzzies.
Finley really stood out to me throughout this whole story. I loved his character. He’s a good person and he has good intentions and he really, truly loves Georgette. And of course there’s the musician piece in there too, which endeared him to me even more.
One thing I love most about Jiffy Kate’s writing is that they bring the city of New Orleans to life. The city itself is a living, breathing character in this story. NOLA is one of my favorite cities and these two made me feel like I’d been picked up and transported back there and completely immersed in the culture. That made reading this book even better for me.
If you’re already a fan of Jiffy Kate’s work then I hope you’ve already one-clicked this story. If you’re a fan of sweet tales with the southern charm, then you definitely need to grab this one up and read it.
Five stars to this novel!
This is a second-chance romance set in New Orleans. I’m a little late to the party, but I really enjoyed this book! Good Times is from Jiffy Kate’s French Quarter Collection. Finley and Georgette run into one another after 5 years apart and the connection is immediate. Finley is a jazz musician who mainly plays sax. Georgette gets a job running an art gallery. But Georgette has a boyfriend and so they agree to be friends. But things can change… These two have the sweetest love story. This book is mainly a slow-burn romance (my favorite), but turns out just wonderfully. I’m a new fan of Jiffy Kate and look forward to reading the rest of this series! 4 stars
I received an ARC of this on behalf of the author and their team. All opinions are my own and haven’t been influenced.
I got introduced to Jiffy Kate through the Smartpants Romance series. This is the first book of theirs I’ve read that hasn’t been a part of that.
It’s book 4 in the French Quarter Collection and it can be read as a standalone.
I will definitely be reading the other books in this series because this was cute as heck.
It was a really quick read and such a romantic best friends to lovers second chance romance.
It started off a little slow for me, but once I got hooked into the story of Jette and Finley, I was hooked. And since there are so many side characters I want to know more about, I’m for sure picking up their other books
