Lightning struck Wyatt Dodge the first time he saw Lindy Parker. But there were two problems with that: she was married to his friend, and Wyatt doesn’t do strings. But now Lindy is free, and the two of them can finally explore the heat that’s burned between them for so long. But can Lindy make this good time cowboy decide on forever?

Good Time Cowboy was a delight to listen too.
Lindy and Wyatt drive each other crazy. They’ve recently tied their business together to help promote the dude ranch Wyatt is trying to get off the ground and so, they have to suck it up and deal with each other.
These two have some issues to get over; before they can come together.
Wyatt’s got a lot on his plat. He’s got a few secrets too. He hasn’t told his family one important thing about the Ranch and we also learn about an incident in his childhood that sent him off to join the Rodeo circuit. When this all comes out. It’s a shock, but it helps Dad and Son to talk again.
Lindy was married and her hubby cheated a lot so, she’s sworn off men especially rodeo men. She’s focused all her energy into the winery and is gun shy about hooking up with a man. Especially Wyatt.
Lindy and Wyatt deep down really like each other, but they are prickly when together. They both are a handful, stubborn, and crave control. I liked watching them have to play nice to get the big event off the ground and then having to let go of the past and let someone in. Theirs a lot of tension between them and it just adds to the story.
I also like all the characters we meet; new and old. The family and friends make a great community.
Audio: Narrator Suzanne Elise Freeman did a fabulous job. I really enjoy her narration of the Gold Valley series. The voices are all unique to that character. I like how she portrays the story. It comes alive and I can’t stop listening. She gets me hooked.
Good Time Cowboy was a sweet romance. I really am enjoying the audio for the Gold Valley series. Now off to the next installment.
P.S. We are treated to a bonus novella, Hard Riding Cowboy, in this audio edition.
Rated: 4 Stars
Narration: 4 Stars
What’s better than a good time cowboy and an uptight heroine who needs a little loosening up? Not much! I loved Wyatt and Lindy’s story!
“This thing between us…I don’t know what the hell it is. If I kiss you right now, if you kissed me back…I think we would light this whole vineyard on fire. All those pine trees would go up like a lit match and dry tinder. We’d start a whole forest fire, baby. I don’t want to give you a gift. I want to burn out this thing between us until there’s nothing left but ashes. Ashes aren’t a gift. They’re evidence of destruction. That’s what I think might happen if we touch. That we may well ruin everything around us, but it might be worth it.”
Good Time Cowboy is the perfect read for a hot summer day…
Good Time Cowboy is the third book in the Gold Valley Series, but it can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone novel. Good Time Cowboy follows the story of Wyatt and Lindy. Lindy is trying to move on from the divorce of her husband. While she may have lost his lying, cheating self; Lindy gained his family and the vineyard. There’s nothing Lindy won’t do to see the vineyard succeed. And if she has to team up with her ex’s bff, then she’ll do just that…Wyatt is everything Lindy shouldn’t want, but can’t stay away from. He’s her total opposite. And even though these two should stay away from one another the fire between them is just to hot to let burn out…
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I loved the writing and the story-line sucked me in. I really enjoyed Lindy and Wyatt together. I thought they had great banter and I loved their chemistry. Their story had just the right mix of steam and drama. I enjoyed watching Wyatt and Lindy navigate their way to a happily ever after and I couldn’t put their story down. Good Time Cowboy is the perfect read to spend the day getting lost in. Oh, and there’s a bonus novella at the end that was a fun little treat.
I only found Maisey Yates over the last 6 months. Setting me on the path to read everything she wrote! I loved the way she wove the story line of Lindy and Wyatt! Maisey brought the characters to life. Loved the bonus! Can not wait for the next chapter of a Gold Valley novel.
Good Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates is a delightful and quick read. Adorable cowboys like you’ve come to expect from Yates writes quirky testy females well too. This is such a fun read.
A wonderful read. Book 3 of the series.
The first time that Lindy Parker and bull rider,Wyatt Dodge laid eyes on each other, they felt like they had been struck by lightning. Unfortunately at the time, Lindy was married to Damien, Wyatt’s friend. However, five years later, Lindy is divorced from her cheating husband, but is the owner of his family’s vineyard, Grassroots Winery and Damien’s sisters stuck with her. Except for her brother, Dane, Lindy wants nothing to do with men, especially arrogant cocky bull riders, but to help the town of Gold Valley, she is working with Wyatt, now retired from the circuit and rebuilding the family ranch, to relaunch Get Out of Dodge. Wyatt hasn’t forgotten her, and finds her pushing her buttons amusing and her prickliness a challenge. While they fight their attraction, it does not go unnoticed by those around them. But both are products of poor parenting, (I have been reading too many of these stories lately) and fear rejection, so both have put walls around their hearts. They both have secrets, which they find they reveal to each other, rather than their own families. But until they confront the pain that their parents caused them, they will never be free to open their hearts to love.
Wonderful characters, with actual growth as the story progresses, lively banter and a compelling plot make this a appealing read. Comes with a bonus novella.
After I read ‘A Tall, Dark Cowboy Christmas’ I was super curious about the story of Lindy and Wyatt. There was just something about these two that I really liked and I couldn’t wait to read there story. And thankfully their story didn’t disappoint at all. From the moment I started reading I was hooked. The interactions between Lindy and Wyatt are just so fun to read about. And the chemistry between these two are definitely coming of the pages.
What I loved most about this book was the fact that Lindy and Wyatt met all these years ago, but never acted on their feelings. The fact Lindy was married meant something to them, and I really respected them for that. I also really enjoyed Wyatt’s character. He was just funny, and there’s a lot more about him than you would immediately think.
I definitely enjoyed this book a lot. I read it in a day and couldn’t put it down. I definitely plan on reading every book in this series. And I especially can’t wait for Dane’s, Lindy’s brothers book, that’s coming in 2019.
Always look forward to Maisey Yates’s cowboy creations.
Just needed something more….
I enjoyed Lindy and Wyatt, but Lindy very much made Wyatt pay for the sins of her ex. I did enjoy their banter, but the plot seemed somewhat of a cookie cutter book. I would’ve like a new twist on a tale as old as time.
I’ve been looking forward to Lindy’s story since we met her in Smooth-Talking Cowboy and Maisey Yates did not disappoint when telling the heroine’s story! She and Wyatt have had an adversarial relationship since they were introduced and so it goes without saying that there was a lot of push and pull in this enemies-to-lovers tale! While the story was a little slow, with a lot of inner monologue as opposed to actual (effective) communication between the two characters, it was also full of heart and genuine emotion, which I’ve come to realize is a trademark for the author. Good Time Cowboy (and other Maisey Yates books) are great for when you want a character driven story, set in a wonderful small town, with delightful side characters that you just want to get to know more about. I did really enjoy the book, but there were times when I just wanted the pace to pick up a bit and that got a bit frustrating. I am invested in to these characters now, so I will be continuing on with the series nonetheless. 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
This story has been a long time coming. Lindy first appeared in the Copper Ridge series and I’ve been anxious to find out more about her ever since. As usual, I was not disappointed. Maisey Yates always comes through with giving her characters realistic yet complicated back stories.
If you’ve been reading this series, you know Lindy and Wyatt get under each other’s skin. But, unless you’re new to reading this genre, you also know that means there are a lot of feelings under the surface. And boy are there feelings. One of my favorite things in this book is how Lindy and Wyatt initially met years ago, when she was still married and he was friends with her husband. There’s something about it that just got to me. Amazing.
Having read stories about the Dodge family already, I was a bit surprised by the relationship between Wyatt and his dad. His relationship with his father is so completely different from his brother Bennett’s relationship with their dad in Untamed Cowboy; and Luke’s relationship with their dad in Smooth-Talking Cowboy. I enjoyed this aspect because that’s how real-life works, too. We all have individual relationships with our parents and/or children. No matter how hard a parent tries, no kids are treated exactly alike. Sometimes that causes some deep scars that you may not even realize are there. While Wyatt’s dad knew he had made mistakes, until Wyatt finally decided to have a real discussion with his dad there was no way he could know how much his actions shaped Wyatt’s adult life.
Lindy cares about those in her inner circle so much, but she doesn’t know how to receive that love back. She holds everyone at arm’s length and doesn’t even seem to realize how much she’s missing out on. All she knows is she’s doing things her way on her terms and she can’t let anyone on the outside think otherwise. Appearances mean a lot to Lindy; this story shows us that she has a good reason for feeling like she needs a façade. Somehow, Wyatt seems to be able to see beneath that façade and she doesn’t know what to do with that.
This is a beautiful story of finding love and friendship where you least expect it, and learning that it’s okay to be yourself. Wyatt and Lindy both needed to learn how to stop worrying about how others saw them (for drastically different reasons) as long as they know they are good people and lived their lives as such.
There are some things that happen to people within Lindy’s circle during the last part of this story that I know are going to turn into an amazing story for the characters. Looking at the next couple books that will be released in this series, it looks as though I’ll have to wait a while to see how it’ll play out. Not that I’m disappointed. A couple of stories I’ve been waiting a long time for are still coming up this year. In fact, I already have the next book on my Kindle waiting for me.

With the perfect balance of fun banter and humor, deep emotions and life lesson and passionate romance the Good Time Cowboy shoots straight into the hearts of the readers and takes a fast hold. I absolutely adored this story, each moment of it, bringing up all the feels and emotions to the surface.
Lindy Parker and Wyatt Dodge have one of those connections that is tangible sizzling each time they just think of the other. The energy and attraction between them are palpable, undeniable, and fervent. They get each other, they recognize in the other the past hurt, disappointments, and heartache. There are moments between them that had me swooning hard and moments that brought tears to my eyes, there is an a-ha moment with Lindy that just blew me away, one of my favorite scenes in a book maybe ever. It just raddled me to the core.
The family drama is heartbreaking. How the parents’ choices shaped their children’s lives even after childhood was long behind them, and still affected their decision making and even their happiness, was an eye-opening moment, so realistic and revealing.
I have yet to read a book by the author that wouldn’t have had me completely enamored. Maisey Yates writes about life and relationship in a way that readers all over the world can relate to the stories and reflect on them. She mixes deep emotions, life’s struggles, humor, and romance in a perfect balance, always delivering the goods, leaving readers long for the next book. Thankfully, the wait is never that long.
Good Time Cowboy was one of those stories that I have eagerly anticipated, and Lindy and Wyatt, they won my heart over ten-fold while they entertained and had me alternately laughing, swooning, and in tears holding my breath waiting to exhale. Absolutely a marvelous tale, just like all the other books in the series.
~ Five Spoons!
I totally enjoyed reading Wyatt and Lindy’s story in Good Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates, book three of her Gold Valley series. This story deals with two people who have been splintered since childhood and held together with a thick wall of ice. They each have parent issues and as a result had relationship issues too. Wyatt couldn’t have been a sexier broken man & the chemistry between them was off the charts amazing. I loved how Lindy did everything she could think of in order to hide her weaknesses and how Wyatt decided he should help her. He believed she needed to stop in order for her to become happy again. It was a beautiful thing to finally read when Lindy finally let go of the hurt.
Ms. Yates wrote an amazing story; filled with sexual chemistry, fun dialogue, and endearing characters. Be sure to get your box of tissues. You’ll need it by the time you find out exactly why Wyatt makes being a Good Time Cowboy an art form. I seriously love Maisey Yates’ writing; she just pulls me into her amazing small town romances and Good Time Cowboy was no different. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
Book #2 and I still love these characters. The chemistry between Wyatt and Lindy was smoking HOT. I loved how she did everything she could think off in order to hide her weaknesses and how he decided to help her stop doing that in order for her to because happy again. When she FINALLY let go of the hurt,it was a beautiful thing to read.
I think this is the first book I read where I liked female character more than I did the male…Strange, right?!?

I was in the mood for a good cowboy romance. I have read amazing reviews for Maisey Yates’ previous books and Good Time Cowboy sounded like it would be right up my alley. I was expecting a light, fun, cowboy romance but what I got was so much more. Good Time Cowboy is a gorgeous story about two people with deep emotional scars with a palpable and deep connection to each other.
Lindy is a rigid divorcee vineyard owner partnering with the sexy owner of the ranch next door, Wyatt, to enhance both of their businesses. Somehow, Yates made Lindy both uptight and completely relatable. I loved Lindy and even though we have completely different backgrounds and personalities, I related to her on a personal level. Lindy is so self-reliant and contained, it was an absolute delight watching her open up.
Wyatt was an interesting character. He gives off the easygoing cowboy act but his demons were actually much more serious with bigger roots. I think his character development was pure gold if a little rushed at the end. My favorite part about him is his unwavering support and respect of Lindy as both a person and a businesswoman.
One of my favorite parts of this book was the more mature ages of the characters. Lindy and Wyatt are both well into their 30s and I felt like I was reading about adults. They both had established businesses and responsibilities, their relationship was important but not the only thing in either of their lives.
Overall this book was a delight and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. This was my first Maisey Yates novel and it sure won’t be my last!
**I received an ARC of this book in order to provide an honest review**
This slow-burn romance will have you on the edge of your seat with a “when will they” and a “do it already” until your panting right along with Lindy. Oh my goodness, that wicked Wyatt is a master at playing the game of making Lindy want it then backing off. Waiting for the woman ask for it! But Lindy has a spine of steel and a formidable resolve. Their slow build gives you a chance to really get to know these wonderful characters. They’re not perfect but that would be boring and these characters are anything but. The author does a fantastic job of letting Wyatt and Lindy marinate as they forge a working relationship, albeit sometimes contentious, with their neighboring lands and shared interests. Wyatt inherited, with stipulations, a dude ranch from his father and he’s restoring it to its former glory after retiring from bull riding. Lindy received her ex’s family’s winery in a divorce settlement and is not content with the status quo. She wants to build the business and is working to prove herself to be more than gold-digging trailer trash. Wyatt and Lindy have know each other for years and each harbor desires that go beyond friendship but the stubborn cusses refuse to give in. Their push and pull set the tone for a sizzling matchup as they go at each other. Will the smooth-talking cowboy win her over? As they really get to know each other they discover truths that move their relationship to new levels of respect and intimacy. The evil ex pops up for some added drama and with the sexy Dodge men there’s always something going on. This is a wonderfully written cowboy tale that will have doing the two step all the way to the end. Just fabulous! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. 4.5 stars
Soul baring family drama! With the next in the Gold Valley series, Maisey Yates brings us Lindy and Wyatt’s story. We knew it was going to be good from all of the fire they each put forward in hating each other in previous glimpses of them, but I wasn’t expecting them to touch my heart so much. Both of them have a back story that defined them and made them into the person they are today … and also made them think they weren’t worthy of the love they grow to feel for one another. The family camaraderie is very warm-hearted, the past confessions define the character in a way we couldn’t have predicted, and the passion they share with one another is magical. Really loved their story!
Lindy Parker is putting her heart and soul into making Grassroots Winery better than ever before, and she will do just about anything to make sure it succeeds … obviously, if she’s willing to partner with her cheating ex-husband’s friend Wyatt Dodge. He’s just about the most arrogant man she’s ever met, and just as much of a womanizer as her ex. She can’t stand him, but if partnering with his ranch will make a success out of the winery she got from her husband in the divorce settlement, she’ll bite her lip and pretend for all she’s got!
Wyatt Dodge comes off as a sure of himself guy who goes through women like nobody’s business … but there’s a side to him that no one ever sees. He had a reason for hitting the rodeo circuit at seventeen and never looking back, and being back on the ranch and trying to make it a success brings all of the old baggage to the surface time and time again. Lindy might hate him, but he came alive the very first time he laid eyes on her. She can fight it all she wants, but they are destined to cause an explosion of desire one day soon!
Good time cowboy is the third book in the Gold Valley Series. The stories are interconnected but it can be read as a standalone.
Lindy is trying to prove herself and running the vineyard that she claimed after her recent divorce. She has a long way to go and first had to believe in herself before she can make others believe in her.
“Some people have beautiful things. Some people have beautiful lives. Some people don’t. And when you’ve lived an entire life of dirty and ugly it’s hard to imagine you could ever have anything else. That you could ever deserve anything else.”
Wyatt has crushed on Lindy since the first time he saw her across a crowded bar. He immediately found out she was not only taken, but the wife of a rodeo friend. Now Lindy is free and they have to work together, but Wyatt is not looking for more than a fling.
Author Maisey Yates has become my go-to for hot cowboy stories with real emotional depth.
-4Stars!-
After a devastating divorce Lindy Parker has been left a wounded woman who has no plans on welcoming love back into her life ever again; at one point in time she had everything she thought she could want, but little did she know her husband wasn’t on the same page, so he shut the book on them and moved on before the ink was dry on their divorce papers. In the last year she has begun to piece herself back together again, easing her pain by pouring all of her energy and free time into her winery, and also working on a new business collaboration she has going with a ranch down the road. But working alongside Wyatt Dodge hasn’t been a walk in the park, the man is infuriating, and also happens to be friends her traitorous ex-husband; not to mention fighting a serious attraction to him has her heart and mind working double time! She was adamant when she said she didn’t want to love again, but unfortunately for her, her heart didn’t get the the memo!
From the first time his eyes landed on Lindy, Wyatt Dodge knew she was a special woman, her beauty radiated off of her, but unfortunately for him she walked into the waiting arms of his best friend, and from that point on she was hands off. But his buddy didn’t appreciate what he had and he lost her, and his families winery to boot, so now lucky for Wyatt, that winery has brought her to his doorstep, and hopefully eventually into his arms. But first he has to convince her to shake off that preconceived notion she has about him… and that could prove to be harder than he ever anticipated!
Within the pages of Good Time Cowboy you will find a wonderfully crafted tale, about two wounded souls that have lost their way; not realizing that their “sworn enemy” holds the keys to not only righting their askew path, but also the keys to a life neither thought they’d ever have. From the moment these two wandered onto the page you could feel the sparks bouncing around between them, and also a lot of distaste, Wyatt was supposed to be the enemy, but as much as Lindy tried to dislike him the handsome cowboy found a way past her radar every darn time! I am a sucker for western romance and smooth talking cowboys, and I have to say this one definitely had it all, as well as, a few surprises too!! Highly recommend you meet Wyatt and Lindy their charming story will melt your heart, and leave your smiling!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
