A chance encounter leads to an unpredictable Manhattan romance in an irresistible and heartwarming novel from the author of Hello Love.Greta Hansen has arrived in Manhattan to intern with the Vanderhaven Corporation, a company owned by distant and very wealthy relatives. But she soon realizes she’s actually been hired to keep watch on their capricious daughter, social media celebrity Cece. No … media celebrity Cece. No last name required. Why bother? The entire Twitterverse already watches every fabulous move she makes. Including an unfortunate shoplifting mishap when Cece decides to go off script. It’s then that a handsome—and homeless—stranger comes to the rescue.
Dalton Bishop has a secret. A man of privilege, he’s been living on the streets as a social experiment. Now, in gracious payback for his chivalry, Cece invites him to an elegant fund-raiser called the Forgotten Man Ball. It’s Greta he’s taken with, however—and to Greta’s surprise, she’s taken right back. But Dalton has one more secret up his tattered sleeve. For right now, though, he’s just happy embracing the woman of his dreams. It’s only the beginning of a romantic and revealing adventure that will take them to a place where money, class, and fame matter far less than true love.

This is a sweet/clean romance with a happy ending. If you just need a little happy romance, look no further. I think I might have enjoyed the book more had I read it, rather than listening to it. My only complaint is that the narration was not consistent. Most of the time, the reader enunciated too much and it made the dialog seem forced, not natural. I won a copy of the audio CDs in a Facebook giveaway from the author. I was not required to give a review. My opinions are always my own and rarely requested.
Good Man, Dalton was a delightful and inspirational story full of fun, romance, and so much more! I loved the characters and enjoyed the way that the characters were portrayed with humor. Greta has been approved to be an intern at her wealthy cousin’s family business. When Greta arrives in New York at their huge apartment, she soon realizes that her work will not be what she expected. And she realizes that her cousin’s life is nothing like it looks on social media. At the same time, Dalton arrives in New York to stay for two weeks in a homeless state as an experiment to see what it is really like to be homeless in the city. Somehow Greta and Dalton’s paths cross and they end up in the middle of a fun adventure together! The characters are all facing changes in their lives. The story ties the characters together in a way that makes the story wonderful!
Good Man, Dalton was a heart-warming story about expectation versus reality, friendship and family. Greta is eager to take an internship with her celebrity cousin whom she has never met. Dalton is posing as a homeless man for reasons known only to him. For both of them, reality is not matching their expectations. When their paths cross these two find themselves on an unexpected adventure. McQuestion’s characters are lovable and keep the reader turning the pages quickly to learn how the story ends!
A wonderful “feel good novel”!
It is a love story with kindness, morals and humanity.
Dalton is living in NYC for two weeks as a homeless person. It is not as easy as one would assume especially when you are used to living a life of comfort.
Greta is in NYC on an internship with her cousin’s multi-billion dollar company. She has no idea how she will do this and manage her new responsibilities.
It’s an instant look that causes these two young people to fall in love, but the journey with Dalton and Greta is heartwarming and fun!
Definitely a light book that will leave you smiling!
This a lighthearted book to read. I felt a connection to the main characters right away. I loved the characters and appreciated what good people they were.
This story is about 2 people who meet by chance and their lives are forever changed. Greta Hansen is living a dream. She finally gets to meet her cousin, Cece, whom she has admired her entire life. Greta life is simple, she is from Wisconsin and doesn’t live a glamorous life. She needs an internship to help further her career. She has a family connection to the wealthy Vanderhanven family in Manhattan. Greta landed her dream job for the summer, to intern with her cousin Cece whom she has never met, yet follows on social media. She sees the glamorous life that she leads and cannot believe her luck in being able to intern at Firstborn Daughter all summer long…and spend time and work alongside Cece. Greta soon finds out that her “internship” is a facade and what she really is doing is “babysitting” Cece, assigned to keep her from showing her true self to the public. The bond that forms between the 2 young women is lovely and genuine. They truly care for each other and support each other.
Dalton Bishop happens into the 2 young women’s paths quite by accident. Dalton is on his own quest. with his own secret. He is temporarily homeless on the streets of New York City, conducting a social experiment. Determined to show his father, a wealthy businessman, that he can contribute something. The attraction Dalton and Greta feel for each other is almost instantaneous., from the moment they lay eyes on each other they both feel it. The rest of the story is an adventure for these 3 young people as they all set out to prove themselves.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the advanced readers’ copy of GOOD MAN DALTON by Karen McQuestion in exchange for this honest review.
An enjoyable story about a recent college graduate who leaves her small Wisconsin town for an internship with her mother’s rich cousin’s business in New York city for the summer. When she arrives she finds the job is actually as a companion for her second cousin, a socialite internet sensation.
At the same time Greta arrives in NYC, Dalton also arrives to live for two weeks as a homeless man to gather information for a project he wants to start.
I really enjoyed Good Man, Dalton. Because I got my copy from Kindle Unlimited, I was able to read or listen and Tanya Eby did a great job with the narration. Reading and listening to CeCe and Greta as they found themselves and became friends made for a good story and introducing Dalton for Greta and Roger for CeCe added to their stories.
GOOD MAN, DALTON by Karen McQuestion is a unique and heartwarming story that pulled me in from the beginning and held me captive to the very end. The two main characters, Greta Hansen and Dalton Bishop, cross paths in a truly unexpected way. Greta is excited that she has been offered a career-launching internship with a corporation owned by her distant and extremely wealthy cousins. She travels from her modest home in Wisconsin to New York City only to soon find that she has been hired as little more than a babysitter for her famous cousin Cece, a social media celebrity whose every move is tracked online. Dalton is embarking on an eye-opening social experiment that takes him from his privileged family roots to living temporarily as a homeless person in New York City. While living on the streets, Dalton unexpectedly rescues Cece and Greta from a sticky situation and their paths become entwined in ways they could never imagine. The story has plenty of humor, adventure, family drama and romance, but it also touches on some serious topics such as homelessness, PTSD and aid for veterans. I really enjoyed this heartfelt and thought-provoking book and look forward to reading more from Karen McQuestion.
This was a fantastic read. Karen McQuestion busted stereotypes with this story. The plot did not go how I expected at all. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and to understand their unique motives. I am so excited that there is a second book in this series.
