In a time of crisis, two women come together and set off down a road of hope in this novel in the Tending Roses series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Before We Were Yours. Twenty-year-old Jenilee Lane, whose dreams are as narrow as the sky is wide, doesn’t imagine any good could come out of the tornado that has ripped across the Missouri farmland where she makes her home. But … farmland where she makes her home. But some inner spark compels her to take action. To rescue her elderly neighbor Eudora Gibson from the cellar in which she’s been trapped. To make her way to the nearby town of Poetry, where the townspeople have begun to gather in the only building left standing. To collect from the devastated landscape fragments of life that lie strewn about in the tornado’s wake: letters, photographs, and mementos that might mean something to people who have lost everything.
Eudora Gibson didn’t think Jenilee had it in her. But the girl she’s hardly noticed for years is now surprising her—stepping forward with a bravery that inspires Eudora to face her own bitter past. Brought close by tragedy, the two will learn lessons about the resilience of the human spirit and the ties that make a community strong. And together, they will travel to a place that once lay beyond their dreams.

A novel bursting with joy amidst crisis: small town life is painted with scope and detail in the capable hands of a writer who understands longing, grief and the landscape of a woman’s heart.
This is the second book by this author that I have read. They make me feel good! They are non-confortainal and really describe a time where relationships were more important than TV, FaceBook, etc.
Really good read
Very good book!
An interesting story and an entertaining read with gentle reminders to keep an open heart, be kind, and be willing to forgive and move on.
Great book! LOVED the characters! The messages really spoke to my heart!
Lisa Wingate is a very good writer.
This was a wonderful book that kept me glued in page after page. Loved the way the author wove the theme of God always at work in our lives. I love Christian fiction!
What a beautiful story – a story of hope out of tragedy.
When a tornado destroys a small town, suddenly people’s differences and prejudices become insignificant amidst the injuries and destruction. Everyone comes together; neighbor helping neighbor. The actions and gentle heart of “white trash” Jennilee prompts others to rethink their opinions and their lives. Through the disaster Jennilee sees hope and opportunity for herself and her family.
Beautifully developed characters, a tragic setting, and interwoven storylines make this a book that will touch your soul.
I like Lisa Wingate’s style of writing. Her story lines touch my heart.
I just really liked everything about this book. It had some unhappy circumstances but it had a good ending
These are the type of stories I love to read. I hope I can see your work in NovelStar. There are also a lot of talented writers in that platform. You may check their group on Facebook.
When a disastrous tornado goes through a town, Jenilee, only 20 years old, steps up to the plate to help save the memories of the town. I enjoyed this book and felt like I was living through all that happened.
Great book
Easy read. I liked Tending Roses better.
Great book!!!! You just have to read it!!!
Very much enjoyed!
The road is not an easy one, but most roads are not! How can a family of three children move past the hurts and deficiencies of their upbringing? How can a town come together after a devastating tornado with all its damage? Realistic, but hopeful.
I’ve read almost all of her books and recommend all of them!
Such a enjoyable read
