I think this was my first bully romance and I definitely loved it!
Highschool drama. Powerplay. Secrets. The excitement of new love. And so much more!
Max Henry delivers a powerful and suspenseful story about a conceited girl that had it all and one day loses everything she was used to.
New house, new school, new enemies and a new crush.
She didn’t expect Tuck. She didn’t expect to feel the way he makes her feel. But there are so many secrets…
Lacey changed a lot. After a few days in her new school, she realizes the life she had was so superficial and meaningless. I loved that about her.
Tuck is so intense. So different from his friends. And he wants Lacey but there’s something there stopping him and I can’t find out what it is.
Can’t wait for Bad Boys… This series is a must read!
“ ?
Tuck asks quietly.
“ .”
I drop my head to the steering wheel.
“ ,”
He chuckles before adding on a whisper,
“ .”
Cute. Innocently angsty. As the story progressed, Lacey grew on me in big waves. The cliffhanger was enough of a tease to grab a hold of me. I’ll reading Bad Boys today!
Wow, just, wow! After reading this incredible book I needed to sit back and take a big breath! YA isn’t generally my favourite genre but this story is so amazing I literally couldn’t put it down.
Good Girls is the story of Lacey Williams, her family and her life as a nearly seventeen year old. Told from her perspective it gives us a deep insight into her character as well as her growth, and boy does she change.
Leaving the rich life at Riverbourne and moving to Arcadia High was not only a culture shock, such a hard confusing time for her but also an enlightening one too. Meeting The Mavericks was not her favourite thing except for Tuck Brallant, someone she finds very alluring as well as intriguing. Her brother, Colt, is another kettle of fish altogether and one I have to admit interests me but I also find hard to really like.
There are quite a few issues raised throughout this book and I feel there will be more. Issues that highlight many things wrong in society today like bullying, emotionally draining at times to read about them but extremely well compiled and expanded on by the author.
This is the first book in a four book series and I am already looking forward to reading the next three books. An excellent read I recommend to everyone who enjoys quality stories.
Another awesome read from this author. ‘Good Girls’ is a new adult, bully romance filled with secrets, lies, and betrayal. The hero, Tuck is a cowboy, and Lacey is a spoiled, shallow, little rich girl.
Lacey is one of the Chosen. She’s wealthy, privileged, admired, and part of the popular crowd. That is until her family’s status takes a tumble after her father is arrested for unwittingly taking part in illegal activities. Their fortune is taken from them leaving them no choice but to move from their lavish apartment in the city to a modest residence in the country.
With her old friends shunning her and the kids at her new school bullying her, Lacey feels all alone in the world.
Good Girls is narrated by Lacey’s P.O.V and ends with a cliff hanger. This book is all about drama, suspense, romance, trust and secrets.
After her father got arrested for fraud, Lacey’s family had to leave their rich lifestyle in the city and move to Arcadia… a place that is definitely not city if the people riding horses in the streets are anything to go by. Starting school at a new place is super hard, but when you don’t fit in that makes it a bit more difficult, and Lacey doesn’t fit in. Just like every school, there is that one group of people that rule the school, and they have made it their mission to make sure that Lacey and her brother, Colt, get the crap end of the stick. While things at school are crappy and Lacey is trying to figure out how to make new friends, the old friends have pretty much dropped her as she isn’t rich anymore and no longer a part of their group. The moment Lacey starts to actually make a friend and enjoy this life in Arcadia, everything goes crazy and Lacey is left wondering just who is her enemy and who can she trust.
Wow, talk about drama! This was so full of drama that the hits didn’t stop coming. I really feel for Lacey and the situation she has found herself in. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I give this 4 stars.
Such a good series. On such a bully kick atm and did NOT disappoint
I picked this book up and couldn’t put it down, I was so engrossed in the story. Lacey has her life plotted out as one of the “chosen” it’s a role she’s been groomed for. Then everything is taken away in an instant, the family name has a black mark. Being born into a life of privilege to be uprooted to a new school, home and town. The drastic change of being the popular kid to being the new kid, thankfully she has an older brother Cole to lean on. They drive home each weekend to attend a party, but the divide is growing between Lacey and her friends. From the first day at her new school they are bullied by the in group, until one day things go too far. Lacey does gain the attention of Tuck and it’s not welcomed by the others.
Good Girls
I am definitely in the minority here when I say this but I did not like the heroine what so ever. She is self absorbed and all about having a high status.
I did enjoy the storyline really well, it had such an intriguing storyline to it but I just couldn’t get into it because of the heroine. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t hate her she just had qualities that I didn’t like.
The loved the whole rich girl vibe coming to a school in the outback, meeting new friends, making enemies, Friends to lovers, Bully Romance vibe that was happening.
I loved the hero Tuck, although we didn’t get many scenes with him in it.
Good Girls is narrated in Lacey POV and ends with a cliff hanger. This book is all about drama, suspense, romance, twist and turns, trust and secrets.
“You were born in our world , you were born to be seen.
I did not expect this upcoming high school/academy-bully romance series to slay me the way it did!
This is the first book in the series, which centers around the heroine’s (Lacey) family’s downfall and them starting a new life outside the city.
Lacey, with all her flaws and wrong doings, is a strong kind of heroine. She portrayed a spiteful, spoiled rich kid in the premise of the story. I hated her. I want to strangle her. But you know what? She redeemed herself. The changes in her character is not drastic. It was or at least it felt genuine and sincere. You’ll feel it all throughout the story. She was raised differently in a place where societal status is important and craved. Her mentality when she started her new life in a new school was someone who always look for the competition, and either crush them or let them bow to her. It was her way of life that she used to know and adapted well.
But something in the people in Arcadia High made her see the truth the she so blindly followed and believed before. For the first time in her life, she’s the new girl now in a new school who already has people reigning it. She used to be like that before everything in her life was turned upside down. So the struggling of her character was on point and truly needed in the story. You will feel the stress and confusion of a girl who’s now a fish out of the water. It was very well executed by the author. She managed to pull out the emotion of a teenager trying to survive her new life and coping with her new everyday life. Everything she once knew was taken away from her.
And in Arcadia High, she found a huge competition. And she also found someone that made her feel new things. Made her more past the golden boy exteriors of guys. Made her felt more valuable of herself. She found Tuck.
Tuck is our resident cowboy who plays the part of Lacey’s bully. But there was something more in there that Lacey didn’t understand. And it involves her brother. She doesn’t know anything but she knows that it’s something huge. It’s something that will probably change their lives again. Tuck appears to have a love-hate feelings for Lacey. He hates everything she represents but his feelings toward her cannot not be ignored. And he knows something Lacey didn’t.
This has been a refreshing high school-bully drama for me. The romance may have took a back burner for some time, but the continuity of the plot from every chapter kept me on edge. It’s in every page turn, I find myself being consumed by the story. It was a slow built to me. It took me a while to feel the story because the blurb was kind of vague to me and it didn’t offer much inside the story at first. But when things are slowly starting to come together, it was hard to put it down. This book is not just your ordinary, normal bully romance. The climax and ending made me want to kill anyone that would come near me! I was so affected with the ducking bomb the author dropped almost to the end. She played that ending well. With that being said, this ended in a cliffhanger that will make you kidnap the author and demand for the next book!
Good Girls was definitely not what I was expecting when I first dove into it. Honestly, I didn’t anticipate being swept away by this addictive pageturner. Until Good Girls I had steered clear of bully romances but after this amazing intro to what promises to be a captivating series I am anxiously looking forward to more!
Lacey was one of those characters that snuck up on me when I least expected her. I initially didn’t like her too much yet she slowly redeemed herself. In the midst of all the changes in her life she proved to be quite resilient. I enjoyed watching her character mature and open her eyes to the world around her.
Growing up in the south I totally appreciate a cowboy and add in a bad boy like Tuck Brallant and you’ll find me swooning. Though he tried to fight it Tuck couldn’t deny the spark between him and Lacey. I loved the push and pull between these two!
Full of twist and turns Good Girls kept me on my toes anticipating what would happen next. I couldn’t get enough of the drama, tension, angst, complex characters and intriguing storyline and can’t wait to see how the Arcadia High Anarchists school the city!
I received a copy of this book from the publsher/author to review.
Caught between two worlds, I no longer know who I am. I was one of the Chosen. Four girls, and four boys, destined to have it all: wealth, status, and a furture. Now I find myself on the other side looking for a way back in. My father’s criminal case meat we lost it all. Forced out of our home, our life, we started anew in a sweet country town call Arcadia. Except after one day as “the new girl” I know there isn’t a single sweet thing about Arcadia High. Boys versus girls. Those who have it all versus those who’d do anything to get it. Lacy is one of the chosen. She and her family have it all. Wealth, privilage, admiration and she is of course part of the poplar crowd at her school. However when her father decides to take the fall for his business partners, they lose everything. Her social standing is in the dirt and her family is forced to move out of their house which send them to the town or Arcaida to live. Lacy is determinded to regain her status as a popular when she start high school as the new girl at Arcaida High. However things don’t go as she plans and Lacy soon finds herself being torn to shreds by the mean girls of Arcadia High and the boys are just as quilty as the girls in this school. They are bullys and awful and I tend to get so mad when I am reading a bullying story that I get so focused on that I can’t even enjoy anything else. I too was not a huge fan of Lacy from the beginning fo the book. However do not fret becasue Max Henry just has this magical way of making you fall for her characters as she redeems the ones who need redeeming. It’s not long before she finds herself too rubbing shoulders with one of elite in the school!! I really really enjoyed this book. I can not wait to get my hands on the second book. Max Henry has blown me away with this book.
H-O-L-Y C-R-A-P what a story!
I’ve just finished Good Girls, and H-O-L-Y C-R-A-P what a story!!! I’m gutted I have to wait until August for the next one.
I’ve only read a couple of other YA Bully romances because in general they’re not my thing. But like the others, I’ll read everything that an author of Max Henry’s calibre has written, even if it is outside of my usual. And, I absolutely enjoyed it!!!
In this book, Lacey really is a product of her environment, of her mother’s influence, and of the expectation of what is normal for their class structure. She didn’t know of any other way to live until it was stripped from their family. For this reason I didn’t really dislike her, she just ‘was,’ as a character. It wasn’t until the new school environment that she found that things were done differently and she found that she fitted in neither world. She was resilient to the very definition of the word, and chose to adapt. I in turn, chose to believe that she changed to fit in, not because of the bullying, but because of the practicality of her family’s new living environment, and she found she started to find a different side of herself. I admired her – a lot. She stood her ground, and it was great to see.
Then, just when she’s starting to settle in, her family changes the rules on her yet again.
What an ending!!! What about the bombshells that were hinted at throughout the book!!! Now I’m waiting. 4.5 stars for this YA bully romance.
Max Henry is a new to me author, but I have been hearing about her books for awhile now from fellow book lovers. The moment I came across this book and read this blurb I thought it would be the perfect introduction into her writing style.
Lacey Williams is a strong leading lady with her own flaws and to be honest I didn’t really love her in the beginning, but she managed to slowly redeem herself in my eyes throughout the course of this story. Tuck Brallant is a sexy cowboy who happens to play the role of the bully because although he has feelings for Lacey, she represents everything he hates. Their chemistry was intense and my goodness I felt every moment of it. A lot happens between these two and the rollercoaster ride of emotions I experienced was a wild one for sure!
Good Girls was a real page turner and I found myself devouring this addictively captivating story full of scandalous moments that brought on a whole lot of angst. Tensions ran extremely high and there was a lot of drama, drama, oh and did I mention DRAMA! This bully romance was completely unexpected and the twists and turns kept me on my toes the entire time. This story ends in a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see what the next book in the Arcadia High Anarchists series has to hold.
Where do I begin to write a review when I really don’t know, what I feel for a book that was left up in the air. Where I was left confused and angry. This book was more of a lead up to build towards the finale, I believe we will receive with the books to come.
The characters are all really good. And the story was good and I know will be amazing when all the secrets come to light. I can’t say too much as this is a story that need to unravel for the reader. I know this is just me sulking because I need the answers right now. Patience was never my strongest suit.
This book is enjoyable and although it’s not quite the kind of book that I tend to read as a 45 year old. I find it hard to relate to the Young Adult genre. But I must say I enjoyed the story. I just need more. I recommend this book as I feel these books could become real game changers
I’m a bit of a mixed bag after finishing this one. The story had me so hooked that I couldn’t rate it any less than 4 stars but boy oh boy did some of the characters drive me nuts. Lacey started out self involved and annoying, Colt and Tuck are both just plain confusing… I can say I’m intrigued for book 2, but I’m looking forward to Lacey hopefully evolving more and definitely hoping to see more of Tuck and Maggie.
Good Girls was a page turner! The Drama was scandalous and addictive, the tension was high! I just couldn’t get enough of Lacey’s crazy, messy life! This book makes it very apparent that Bad boys grow like weeds in the city and in the boondocks! If there’s one thing you can for sure count on it’s mean girls and arrogant a**holes! Good Girls was a refreshing bully romance with unexpected twists and turns! I loved that this book felt like a tv drama I would be binging! Lacey is a sweetheart who has always 100% been the good girl, she follows the rules and lets her mother run her life, I’m so excited to see what’s about to change! I have to say as a country girl myself with horses, I absolutely loved that everything about this book was relatable and accurate! It definitely has a little piece of my heart, and I hope Trent doesn’t break it!
I love a good high school bully romance and this series is off to a great start! Lacey went from being on of the “Chosen” elite living in a life full of entitlement and riches to suddenly losing it all after her father is used as scape goat for some nefarious business dealings. This pampered girl and her brother, Colt find themselves uprooted from the city to start the school year at Arcadia high – a rural school. Of course the transition is anything, but easy and the author does a great job illustrating this.
At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of Lacey. She starts off with a major superiority complex. However, she won me over as she evolved and matured as a character. Many times, my heart hurt for her as she was belittled and treated poorly. The author beautifully showed her struggle in figuring out just where she belonged. I also want to give a shout out to Maggie. I love that girl’s quirkiness and how she is such a great friend to Lacey.
There are bullying pranks, hurled insults, lies, and deception at play as well as a budding romance between Lacey and one of the other characters. While I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I did find that some small parts of the middle dragged when compared to how the beginning started off and with how much the storyline progressed during the last third. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this high school bully romance. I am definitely looking forward to seeing where this author leads us next!
When Lacey Williams’ world is turned upside down with her father being used as an escape goat to take the fall for his dodgy business partners, and the family loses it’s prestigious Social position along with all their money, the family have to move to the country town Arcadia. Everything she knew about being a proper lady and adequate isn’t going to get her by in this town, there is no Gucci boots on these girls feet only RM Williams. Wanting to secure her status as the elite of the new school, Lacey is quickly torn down by new schools own “it girls” and their male counterparts. As Lacey learns to adapt to being from her old life to her new life, she starts to realise that everything was as perfect as she thought. Making new friends and chemistry building between one of Arcadia’s elite, lies are coming out, and just when Lacey is staring to find her place things are only going to get worse.
At the beginning of the book there is very little that can be said about Lacey, she is shallow, stuck up and very pretentious spoilt brat. But as the book goes along and Lacey is exposed to the real world her behaviour and attitude starts to change and it has a lot to do with the new people in her life.
I am throughly enjoying this new series by Max Henry and can’t wait to see what is next from her with Bad Boys. The connections that Lacey is building between Maggie and Tuck are stories that i can’t wait to see where the end.
Her father led to the back of the police cruiser. The words “I love you, baby” and then it was all gone.
It was a long way to fall, but that they did.
A new start means a new school. Goodbye Riverbourne Prep hello Arcadia High.
A brother and a sister verses the brutal inhabitants of Arcadia.
Do they even stand a chance?
Hellloooo my favourite trope, goodbye my Max Henry virginity.
Such a sweet sweet read! full of tasty country bumpkins, and city slickers.
So much hate and so many assumptions, bully boy tactics flying left right and central followed by general all round hostility! I freaking loved it all!
Lacey and Colt the siblings who start out wanting to rule the college, show their mettle and be on top.
They are so alike yet so different I ended up rooting for Lacey when the poop hit the proverbial fan as it always does!
Shes a fighter, the more you beat her down, the harder she will bounce back up. That mentality speaks volumes to me!
An amazing start to a new series and I cant wait till August for the next book!! it cant come soon enough!
This story reminds me of Tijan’s Fallen Crest books. That is definitely not a bad thing. It is definitely not a standalone story and ends in a cliffhanger. Lacey has been raised to be a trophy wife and she is only 16. She has some rude awakenings about who her friends might be and what some of her family will do to get what they want all while trying to get by at a new school filled with people treating her terribly. Very excited to see where the story will go next!
