Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs. Blake Riley sees the wedding … the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.
But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?
Warning: Do not read while sipping hot liquids. Or cold ones. Or while sitting anywhere laughter would be inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppies and a snarky pair of underwear.

Cheezus! Blake is my all-time favorite book boyfriend. He’s unlike any other I’ve read. Sarina and Elle are gold together no matter what they write, but this one is at the top of my list!
This book is exactly what I needed right now! It made me so happy. I laughed the entire time I was reading it and it brightened my day.
It’s not that I didn’t like Jess,I loved her,but I didn’t love her nearly as much as Blake. He is one of the most hilarious characters I’ve read about. He is beyond adorable,so positive and kind. Him and Jess were so cute together, made for each other. I loved the secondary characters too and I’m excited to read more from Elle and Sarina!
So much fun watching two characters take their own sweet time figuring it all out… and some puppies!
A fun, sweet, thoroughly entertaining read.
Good from the beginning to the very end. Enjoy.
It was one of the best books I’ve read lately. It wasn’t all blood and gore. It was funny and romantic – the best kind
I love Blakey and J-Babe
The WAGs series is a spin-off from Sarina Bowen’s and Elle Kennedy’s Him/Us duet. Blake Riley and Jess Canning were both introduced in Us, and deserved their own story!
Now that Wes and Jamie are engaged, Jess is planning their wedding. Blake is giving his imput, and driving Jess crazy (which isn’t surprising- I mean, this is Blake!). Shortly after, Jess has a change of careers, and decides that nursing is her true passion. She enrolls in school in Toronto, and this allows Blake and Jess to get to know each other more. And while neither of them plan on anything, their chemistry is hot!
These two main characters are so well-written! I could feel Jess’s insecurities. And Blake and his Blake-isms… that guy has such a personality!!
While you don’t have to read Him and Us before reading Good Boy, I would suggest it (mainly because I just love that duet!). I definitely recommend Good Boy!
Hysterically romantic and many steamy scenes – one way or another this book kept me panting for breath. Highly recommended!!!
Blakey Riley makes me smiley. I loved Blake and his point of view. Sometimes men are clueless and his point of view showed that sometimes but it was always funny. There were only 2 WAGS books but I really wish there were more
This book came along at the perfect time for me. 2017 has been a bit of a rough and tumble year already and I needed a light and uplifting read. Now, let me be clear, I adore both of these authors, I’ve read pretty much everything they’ve written and I’ve loved it all. But I’m here to tell you that this book is something special. The kicker is, I wasn’t really sure how this book would work for me. Normally I don’t do well with guys like Blake or as we are somewhat led to believe he is in HIM and US. You know the funny guy, the sometimes annoying one and he knows he’s hot. But lo and behold, Bowen and Kennedy gifted us with Blake Riley and I’ll be forever grateful.
Yes, he is HILARIOUS and good looking and CHARMING but the also cares very deeply for his friends and family. Jess comes from an equally loving family but is struggling to find her path once and for all and for her, Blake just isn’t part of that plan. To his credit, he gives her the space she needs to become the person she wants to be. There’s none of the crazy alpha asshole posturing, YOU MY WOMAN. WE HAVE THE SEX AND YOU DO WHAT I SAY. Nope. There is so much funny in the book and not in a crazy over the top way.
As I read this book and laughed my ass off, I kept thinking that this may be the best book I’ve read by both of these authors and that I figured this book would end up on my best of 2017 list. Please, read this book. You won’t regret it. You’ll even come out of reading this with a new vocabulary. The word CHEEZUS has permanently taken root in my everyday language.
BLAKE RILEY MAKES ME SMILEY!

The sweet, sexy and hysterically funny frenemies to lovers story of Jess’s assimilation into WAGS and the Blake Speak dialect, Cheezus. This book is so much fun from Blakes attempts at seduction, “You just need a little recharge on my docking station.” to Jess’ handling of his nasty ex. Blake is hot and ‘big’ as Jess will attest….”I have an inappropriate shimmy near my goal crease just thinking about it. ” Anticipation for the next book in the series, ‘Stay’ is painful.
BLAKEY!!! Cheezus he was freaking perfection!!
“He just laughs, that deep, boisterous laugh that seems to come from the center of his soul, because Blake doesn’t do anything half-assed. He laughs the way he lives his life—loud and fierce and without inhibition. He fucks that way, too.”
This book was so much more than I could have ever expected it to be. Jess & Blake were fiery sweetness from the very beginning. When I read US with Jamie & Wes, Blake stole my heart, but we got so much more of him in this book. We still go the jokester with a dirty mind, but we got to see a deeper side to him. He was far more than just the fun guy and as his back story comes out, we really see exactly why he always tries to be the fun guy.
Jess didn’t fawn all over Blake like he was used to and that ultimately set the mood for Blake’s feelings in my opinion. He could have had any woman he wanted to have but she was the one who didn’t care about the money or fame, just about Blake.
It was great to see more of Jamie & Wes as well as the side characters we fell in love with through the HIM series. I think my favorite side character was Mamma Riley because she wasn’t your typical mom you read about in books. She was the woman version of Blake minus the dirty jokes and that was so refreshing. Not to mention the ending was just easy, there was no big messy moment it just was. It was exactly what the whole story had been leading up to.
Really looking forward to book two in the WAGs series and hoping for more of the characters I already love and meeting new ones as well.
This story is a funny hockey player lovestory and I really enjoyed listen to it.
But I also like that this story is not just “everything is fine and amazing”, it also switches to kids with cancer and poor dogs ready for adoption.
The narrators did a great job. Blake’s character is customized for Teddy.
Good Boy is the first book in the WAGs series by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy. This is a spinoff from the Him series and chronologically falls almost immediately after the end of Us. While you could enjoy this book &/or the series on it’s own – Blake & Jess are introduced in Us and having listened to that first adds to Good Boy. As such, this review may contain spoilers of events from Him/Us.
Look, I absolutely loved Him & Us (and Epic too!) #Wesmie is awesome. But they wouldn’t even have the name Wesmie without Blake Riley. Kennedy and Bowen have given Blake the perfect compliment in Jess Canning. However, it’s a winding road for these two to move from friends-with-benefits to finding their own HEA.
Blake may have superficially appeared to be a goofy & carefree character but he turns out to be multi-layered and carrying pain no one knows about. I adore Jess. That she desperately wants to love what she does for a living but struggles to find the right fit despite giving all her effort. I like that she keeps Blake on his toes and plays his hilarious verbal sparring.
While this does have it’s serious moments, I spent the majority of the audio ridiculously laughing out loud. I have listened to this so many times and continue to adore it every time.
Narration:
Tanya Eby & Teddy Hamilton are terrific here. It’s always great when you love the way that both narrators do all the voices. Blake has such a gregarious and unique personality and I truly enjoy Eby & Hamilton’s versions of him. This dual narration makes Blake Riley smiley.
i loved this book. Blake Riley is everything! You can’t help but fall for this sweet, goofy, kindhearted man. Teddy Hamilton and Tanya Eby do such a great job as Jess and Blake.
This is the perfect, feel good, friends-to-lovers sports romance.
Blake Riley might be my new favorite Sarina Bowen hero! He’s so funny and I’m so glad he got his own HEA. I loved seeing WesMie as side characters.
Sappy sweet love story alert!
Jess and Blake have chemistry that was off the charts and comical banter that had me laughing constantly.
You can’t help but smile at all the crazy words Blake makes up or get angry when the fake pregnancy with his ex comes to light.
I loved that Jess went back to school at a non-norm age to pursue what she felt passionate about.
And adding in some hockey and yelling from Momma Riley really sent me over the top with good feels.
Good Boy is book one in the WAGS series by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy. I just finished reading both Him and Us and my very good friend told me I needed to read this before I read Epic. I am so glad I listened to her. I smiled ALL THE WAY through this book. This is Blake and Jessie’s story who I already loved. And if you are huge fans of Wes and Jamie from the Him series like I am, then you don’t want to miss this either.
Blake Riley plays professional hockey in Toronto for the same team as Wes does from the Him series. He has adopted both Wes and Jamie as his best friends. Now they are getting married. Jamie’s sister Jess is both the wedding planner and the best woman for her brother. Blake and Jess first met when Jamie was sick a few months ago and he can’t wait to see her again. He has plans for Jess, even if she seems to be ignoring him. He’s a hockey player. He knows how to be persistent.
Jess Canning thought she wanted to be an event planner. But after planning her brother’s wedding, she knows this isn’t for her. This will be her one and only event. But she is determined to rock it. She has every detail planned down to the second. This will be the best wedding anyone’s ever seen. Blake seems determined to undermine her at every turn. He’s aggravating and loud and crazy and gorgeous and sexy and sweet. She is determined to keep her distance. That ship has sailed. There will be no more sexy times with Blake Riley. Famous last words, right?!
“I’m drowning in this girl and I don’t want to be saved.”
Blake is one of those characters that you can’t help but to love. He will do anything for anyone. He is hilarious and loud and full of life. But in this book, we learn more. Five years ago, he was badly hurt. It made him lose faith in love and relationships. He has a bad reputation for being a player but ever since he met Jess, he hasn’t been able to get her off his mind. Maybe they can just be friends with benefits because he definitely enjoyed her benefits. He doesn’t want a relationship. But the more time he spends with her, he finds himself wanting only her.
Jess is sure that she has now found what is her life’s calling, what she is truly supposed to do. There will be no time for anything else. But Blake keeps finding ways into her life and her resolve is weakening. Until one day she realizes that she has begun to care, more than she wants to. The more she gets to know him, the more she cares.
This book made me laugh so much. Blake is like a beam of sunshine. He’s amazing. But I also loved seeing that he has a serious side too. It’s just impossible not to love him. He and Jess really were amazing together. Then there is the fact that we get LOTS of Wes and Jamie in this book. And yes, there was a particular moment when my eyes once again watered, with joy and happiness. I am just so glad I went ahead and read this book. Now I am going back and reading Epic, from the Him series to conclude my Wes and Jamie experience.
“You make Blake Riley Smiley.”
Blake is gorgeous, sweet, possessive, and ovary exploding awesomeness! Cheezus, where can I find me a Blake?

We met Blake in US and he was the best friend Wesmie could ask for, but there were some sparks between the rottweiler and the chihuahua! Though neither of them wants to admit it! The banter between Jess and Blake is hysterical, the chemistry smoking hot, and the story amazing! I have spent my entire day just gobbling this book up! I couldn’t wait for the HEA!
Blake is the happy, funny, booming personality. Jess sees herself as the family screw up, the one that can’t get her life together and feels she is always letting her family down. The two of them are perfect for each other. One with more confidence than should be legal, and one in need of a little confidence.
What I wasn’t expecting was Blake’s backstory. We got a snippet before but this time we dive into why Blake doesn’t do relationships and what happened five years ago to sour him on getting serious again. I hate Molly and I wanted to punch her lights out for what she did to Blake.
Jess, the new party planner, has planned the perfect wedding for Wes and Jamie, and also decided she doesn’t want to be a party planner. Another failed attempt at a life goal is all she sees. But she has a new plan for herself, will this one stick, will it be something she can commit too?
When Jess winds up in Toronto for school, the action heats up! Blake and Jess are combustible together and I had a stupid grin on my face for most of the book. The two of them trying to navigate each other and Blake’s tenacity was endearing and swoon worthy. I only lost that grin a couple of times and I blame it all on Molly!
If you want a fun read, with humor, chemistry, a little angst, and characters that you can’t help but love. THIS IS YOUR BOOK/SERIES! This entire series has been five stars for me and I am heading right into Eriksson’s book. I can’t wait for his broken heart to mend. Definite recommendation from me and I am totally loving this writing duo!
