This is a all time favorite book, in my opinion.
A very descriptive book of the Civil War era.
Well there have many books that have kept me up all night. I can be a little compulsive that way. But the first one was when I was 16 and read Gone with the Wind. The movie wasn’t a patch on it . Though I couldn’t fault the casting.
Love this book. Great novel about romance and survival in the Civil War.
So much better than the movie! I found myself drawn into antebellum Georgia following Scarlette O’Hara’s trials and tribulations. She is a spoiled plantation owners daughter, who thinks she’s in love with Ashley and tries to use her feminine wiles to lure him to her throughout the story, unsuccessfully and often hysterically. She’s drawn into the …
This is Womans’ Month and this book is about a strong woman. Her strength through many hardships and how she handled them is inspiring. It is set in the War Between the States, and the starvation, and all out hardships is aevidince o f our ahistory.
I realize almost everyone above the age of 40 has seen this movie….and most genuinely love it. It’s an epic of era set just before, during and after the Civil War that takes you on an absolutely unforgettable journey of what life might have been like for many different groups of people in the south. It’s focused mostly on the love story of …
I loved this book. I loved the character Scarlett and this was an easy read and kept my attention all the way to the last page even though it was a large book.
I go back to this book to completely escape. It never fails to pull me in to Scarlett’s world.
Number 2 on my list
Original, classic and you can’t put it down once you start it.
I love this book. It is set in Civil war torn United States. It explores the feelings of the people in the south as opposed to the north. Families were torn apart and as is stated in the book, a whole civilization was gone with the wind. I love biographical and historical reads. This meets that criteria.
One of my favorite books, I’ve read it over and over again.
Favorite of all time! The characters, story, and vivid descriptions make this a page turner as if you are part of this historical period and watching Rhett, Scarlett, and Ashley live out their fates. Great read.
When Margaret Mitchell, put the stories, told to her by her Grandmother, of those who survived and those who capitualted to the hardships of the Civil War, onto paper, she could never imagined what they would become.
Gone With The Wind, is a fictionalized account of the true history of the South during the Civil War and Reconstruction periods, …
This was the first book I read several times. I was about eight when I read it the first time. I love historical fiction!
It comes so near to going against my better judgment to even take a stab at reviewing this Pulitzer prize winning book. Something in the attempt seems pompous, when the truth is, as I glided along the 1,448 pages of this contribution to literary letters, all I felt was a profound and humbling willingness to be shown what excellence in writing …
A re reader!
I first read this book when I was twelve. I have read it several times since.
Best book I’ve ever read!!
