Bailey Burke has had a rough six months—it’s not easy thinking your romantic overtures toward your best friend caused him to kill himself. Except that’s exactly what happened. Ryan is very much dead, having shot himself with his own police-issued gun. Guilt and grief shouldn’t cause hallucinations though, but six months after Ryan went into the ground, Bailey is freaking out and swearing his … ghost is standing in her kitchen. Which he is…
Ryan claims he didn’t commit suicide, but was murdered, and he needs Bailey to help him find his killer so he can earn his ticket out of purgatory. Ryan’s counting on a stairway to heaven, as opposed to wings, since that might be a little unmanly for a cop, even a dead one.
An expert in home design, with her own staging business, Bailey can tell you where to place a couch to improve flow and comfort, but solving a crime? Not her area of expertise. But with help from Ryan’s former partner, Marner, she is unraveling the mystery of what happened to Ryan that day… and unwittingly putting herself in grave danger.

Bailey is a home stager. She’s been in mourning for 6 months as her friend Ryan committed suicide just after she confessed her love for him. Suddenly Ryan appears in her home as a ghost. He needs help to prove he didn’t commit suicide, but of course he doesn’t remember any of the details. So, Bailey sets out to solve the mystery.
This is a great first in a series novel. I look forward to more.
This was a fun read! Who knew there were so many rules in Purgatory? I loved the author’s sense of humor and clever turn of a phrase. And, to my surprise, there are more books in the series! Hooray!
Wasn’t sure at first, but then somehow just got addicted. From a mystery vantage, I was torn the whole way through and loved the way it wrapped.
Really cute book. It had some very funny parts and an unexpected ending.
Good read. It’s worth putting your feet up and enjoying a couple of hours relaxing with a whimsical story. I enjoyed it. I intend to read more of this series.
Quirky. She tells him she wants to be more than friends and he dies. If you like mysteries that include a ghost and a female protagonist, you’ll like this.
I really enjoyed this paranormal romance. Superficially, it’s a who-dunit, but it’s also about finding out what you really want. Writing is smooth and light, characters are relatable. A pleasant summer read for the airport or beach.
This was a good story.
In places, laundry lists of character looks and clothes appeared, and some interesting side tangents that didn’t really further the story.
It was not a clean read. Romance was throughly described on the page, not kept off the page,
Easy reading and very funny at times! Reminds me of the Stephanie Plum books. Very entertaining! I ordered the other two books because I liked it so much!
This was an easy read, funny, suspenseful, romantic about Bailey Burke who has her own small real estate business and six months ago her best friend, Ryan killed himself and now she sees his ghost. Bailey was secretly in love with Ryan and starts looking into the truth of his death and a lot of unexpected things happen and there is a cliff hanger at the end.
Great story, good read
Fun Book
Gone with the Ghost was a lot of fun to read. Loved the character’s personalities. It’s a little bit different take on the traditional cozy mystery which made it a blast to read. The author did a fantastic job of building the characters and make them likable. I did not see the ending coming.
Great book for a Sunday Afternoon.
Cute story. Good mystery, contains twists all the way to the end.
Light reading, forgettable but a way to spend quarantine.
did nor like the talking to the ghost and did not finish it.
Mildly interesting
I loved it
It was entertaining but too much vulgar language for me… also, it didn’t really end. No wrap-up. Obvious next book but sort of like being held up. Probably won’t buy the next book.
started it, just too busy for me. took it out of rotation; i’m not gonna read it.
Good page turner witty with a touch of romance , easy to read at times a little tragic but still has that great funny side .
