You might say I ran away, but you’d be wrong.I put my life on the line in a foreign country to fight America’s enemies. You know what happened when I got home? Was there a hero’s welcome waiting for me? No. I became an internet joke, a viral meme. So, you go ahead and call it ‘running away’. I call it self preservation.I turned my back on the nonstop internet trolling we call society to live … internet trolling we call society to live alone in the Alaskan wilderness. I swore I’d never give anyone another chance, let alone someone like her. She lives her life for her followers. She’s a woman who would rather record her life than live it. She’s exactly what’s wrong with this world.
We’re stuck here because of a winter squall, but that snow whipping around outside is nothing compared to the storm brewing between us. Just like that snow, our touch burns up our bodies and we can’t tell if it’s cold or hot. Hate or love. All I know is I can never get enough. All I know is I need more.

Sawyer is a military man who gave his heart to one woman. When she crushed it on national tv his world collapsed. He leaves everything behind an moves to Alaska. He is living a tranquil, off the grid, secluded life, far from the social media bullying.
Elsie is an Instagram darling. She’s engaged to a man who pushes her to post constantly and increase her followers. Her phone is never out of her hand. When he does the unthinkable she runs away, right into a blizzard.
When Sawyer and Elsie meet neither can believe the other lives as they do. Their attraction is immediate but she needs to get over his gruffness and he needs to see past the Instagram girl.
The blizzard brings them together in a cabin and the heat is off the charts.
When the weather clears will she go back to her “fake” friends or stay with the one person who has been completely honest with her?
Enjoyed the book. The story flowed well and the characters were very likeable.
I was given this book for an honest voluntary review.
Sawyer and Elsie are two people who probably have never met, but a snowstorm brings them together. Sawyer stays away from social media after been humiliated and Elsie is crazy about social media for the likes.
This story is well written and the characters are very interesting. We see how people deal with social media and how it can affect them in many ways.
But can two people who seem so different fall in love?
I really enjoyed reading this splendid, entertaining romance & I found the story-line and plot intriguing with some unexpected situations. The characters are well-developed & interesting with different sides to their personalities, at times they tend quite confrontational with realistic emotional feelings and/or expectations but ultimately complement each other.
There is: a young woman (Elsie) celebrating her engagement discovers her despicable fiancé (Ben) cheating on her with her foster-sister (Kate)& flees into the wilderness & is discovered by an ex-soldier & mountain man (Sawyer) who left society, his cheating ex-girlfriend (Farrah), twists & turns, drama, memories, deceit, betrayal, humiliation, emotional turmoil, discovery, confusion, verbal conflict, attractions, misunderstandings, regrets, rescued, confrontations, accusations, rejection, some violence, declarations, love, contentment, some steam & a well-deserved happy conclusion.
What a wonderful story of two people in relationships prior to meeting each other that had gone wrong. Sawyer left the military to marry the love of his life only to find her pregnant with another mans baby, so off to Alaska he going to live by himself. Elsie is in Alaska with her friends and her fiancé to celebrate their engagement and then Elsie finds him screwing her half sister, so she gets mad and runs into the forest only to get into trouble because of the snow storm. Now you will have to read the excellent book to see what happens.
A romantic story that also exposes the shady side of today’s obsession with social media. Sawyer becomes the laughing stock of social media when a proposal goes horribly wrong. Elsie’s life revolves around the number of “likes” she gets when she posts pics of herself doing whatever in her life. Finding out her fiancé is cheating on her is something even her social media followers cant help her cope with. When she comes upon her fiancé cheating on her with her foster sister, she blindly runs out into the Alaskan wilderness. When Sawyer comes across her lying in the snow, a series of events that will change them both is put into motion and all you can do is hold on for the ride. I enjoyed this book and hope you will take my advice and purchase a copy.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
I absolutely loved this rewrite of a favorite with more chapters and new names. This refresh is refreshing and will immediately draw you in. I would love to see more set in this world with some of the other characters.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
This is a wonderful well-written story, I really enjoyed the storyline and the interaction between Sawyer and Elsie. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot. They have both been betrayed by people who were meant to love them but luckily they found each other.
I already read this story when it was called Saved by the Woodsman and I loved it.
So when I was told it was being re-released with more on Sawyer’s back story, I was excited to read it and I was not disappointed.
I really enjoyed the connection Sawyer and Elsie had right from the start, their chemistry was undeniable.
Even though Elsie seemed like she was a rich spoiled brat but after spending time with someone who turned his back on society and lives off the land she has changed her perspective on life.
Unfortunately Elsie’s boyfriend turns out to be an even bigger idiot once she is rescued and she realizes she doesn’t want that life anymore but has she left it too late with Sawyer?
It’s great to finally understand why Sawyer cut everyone off and now isolates himself from the world.
There were some fun, silly and serious times while trying to wait out the storm. What better way to keep warm than sharing some sexy steamy moments 😉
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. This was a previously released book called Saved by the Woodsman. Sawyer’s more in-depth story was beautifully written. Great characters that pull you into their story and will pull at your heartstrings. Sawyer and Elsie have sizzling hot chemistry. Both characters have things from their past that make them the strong people they become.
“Gone Wild” is a revised edition of chivalrous Sawyer’s journey to true love. New vivid scene descriptions enhance the realism in this captivating story. A molten-hot soul-stirring read that kept me turning pages eager to learn the outcome of this romantic tale.
Sawyer, a brawny sultry woodsman lives a tranquil life deep in the Alaskan woods. Humiliated by social media bullying, he bid society farewell. He is an honorable man, aces cooking and loathes individuals associated with social networking sites. Elsie an Instagram model has countless fans leading a life of fame. A dismal past has her believing she can only find happiness in the limelight. Beneath her glossy carefree persona is a woman who aches for unconditional love. Stuck in a deteriorating cabin during a raging snowstorm these two clash like Titans. As fiery desires of the heart deepen, they face many challenges before reaching their happy forever.
A well-written creative read that fuses reality and fantasy. Elsie and Sawyer’s chemistry is genuine and their devotion for each other is rock solid. Heartrending backstories help readers understand the character’s personas. The author does a fabulous job showing how social media impacts life on both sides of the coin. I found this to be an entertaining read.
The great plot and the wonderful characters kept me totally engaged throughout the entire book! I was so invested in this book that it was very hard to put this book down to go to bed!
Heartwarming: Love Military Romance
I had received this book as an ARC for my honest Review. Well done Eddie with this revised story line previously “Saved by the Woodsman”, Gone Wild brings you further into Sawyer’s character. When Sawyer and Elsie meet it takes awhile for them to warm up to each other and find out that they have several things in common. Sawyer’s heartbreak which leads him to live a secluded life in Alaska and Elsie thinks she can only exist through her social media followers along with her own heartbreak. When these two meet sparks begin to fly, will they be able to trust one another and let things fall where the may and help each other heal? Strong willed characters, great story, a must read. One that I could not put down as it had me from beginning to end.
Entrepreneur David Samuel was quoted as saying that “to live without love is to merely existing. Living a “robot’s” life.” This is lesson learned by Sawyer and Elsie in Eddie Cleveland’s “Gone Wild” (previously published as “Saved by the Woodsman”). The story takes place in the wilderness of Alaska.
The story begins with the life experiences that result in the lead characters running from their pasts, with social media in the driver’s seat. Sawyer escapes to the Alaskan wilderness to live in solitude and avoid the pain of his past. Elsie escapes to the wilderness as well – the “wild” created by her social media presence. Elsie believes she finally has the love all humans crave albeit through her followers.
But life throws her a curveball and puts her on a path to Sawyer’s world. The reader is taken on a journey as Sawyer and Elsie work through their issues while trying to survive and in the process discover true love and acceptance. Through that journey we are treated to humorous banter as these two try to understand and accept one another. Oh – and yes there is hot sex.
“Gone Wild” sheds more light on Sawyer’s past with a change in the narrative surrounding his “loss”. The change provides a more solid tie-in to Elsie’s world and strengthens the central conflict between them, providing additional context not readily apparent in the original story. The author did a wonderful job in “Saved by the Woodsman” illustrating how the pain of experience and fear leads one to retreat into solitude or numbness. That theme is maintained in “Gone Wild”.
Mr. Cleveland excels at taking “real life” and crafting stories that draw the reader in with details and dialogue that help tell the story with all the feels you look for in a contemporary romance. Get “Gone Wild”! I’ve read all of Mr. Cleveland’s books and they never disappoint.
This book is so good the Characters of Sawyer and Elsie have hot chemistry together….. Sawyer when he came back from Service was expecting to propose to his girlfriend but you will have to read to see what happened that caused him to live in Alaska…. Elsie at first you wont like her but as you get background about her you will see that sawyer is good for her…. This book ends in a hea….. I definitely recommend this book I read it in one day…
This was A great story. Sawyer was a military man, and is getting out to be with his girlfriend and start a family. He ends up being humiliated on live tv and then on the internet. He decides to leave and live off the grid in Alaska. Elsie is a social media darling. She is addicted to social media and loves the attention she gets from her “friends”. Elsie has always been told that she not good enough, not pretty enough, etc. and has low self-esteem and lets people walk all over her. When something happens, she runs into the woods and collapses. Thank goodness that Sawyer was in the area. He saves her from freezing, but they both end up saving each other in another way. What will happen when Elsie is found? Can she live a life away from everything and everyone? This will give you some feel good feelings.
This is a beautiful re-write giving a more in depth to Sawyer’s story. The author does a fantastic job bringing out all the feels and delivering a realistic story filled with twists, turns and a hot and steamy chemistry between Sawyer and Elise. It’s well written, moves fluidly and I loved reading. Highly recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Gone Wild is a great story about a man who gave his life for others but instead of being thanked for it he’s ridiculed. My heart broke for him as he struggled to deal with what happened.
At first I didn’t really care for Elsie because she seemed shallow and phony but as the story goes on we’re given insight into why she acts that way. Once the layers are pulled back it’s easy to see that Elsie is actually a slightly broken but truly beautiful person.
I loved seeing the two overcome their differences and find happiness they didn’t believe possible.
Their story is a wonderful one about love, acceptance and healing.
