“Trespassers will be gutted and hung!” –Slagton’s unofficial town motto spray-painted on the old company store.Normally, not even drunk on a bet would Violet Parker go to Slagton, a creepy ghost town inhabited by those too stubborn–or deranged–to leave. But a certain bullheaded Deadwood detective has a problem–his informant from Slagton has gone missing. When Violet is shanghaied into taking a … shanghaied into taking a hunting trip to the ghost town to search for the missing snitch, she stumbles into trouble that will take more than a double-barreled shotgun to escape.
Will Violet survive this new Hell that haunts her, or will she end up on Slagton’s growing list of those “gutted and hung”?

I absolutely love the Deadwood series! I can’t wait for the next book
I really like this series. I wish the books came out closer together. Don’t stop writing this series.
The Deadwood Series by Ann Charles just keeps getting better and better. She can’t write them fast enough…want more and more!
I love Ann Charles’s Deadwood series and her cast of protagonists, who are all very individual and just a tiny little bit crazy. The mysteries are full of suspense, yet funny and a bit tongue-in-cheek. Book 9 is my favorite so far because previous storylines start to come together and interesting new information is revealed. I enjoyed every moment reading it.
I’ve enjoyed all the Deadwood books so far!
Violet Parker has been roped into going on a mission to Slagton (Trespassers will be gutted and hung!) by Detective Cooper no less. Old Man Harvey is riding shotgun as Violet’s self-proclaimed bodyguard. While there they encounter a new unfriendly form of Whangdoodle. The situation escalates and soon everyone is drawn in: Doc, Cornelius, Zoe, Natalie, and even the otherworldly Prudence, Mr Black, and Dominick. Just so things don’t get too dull, there is a new situation brewing at Calamity Jane Realty, violet’s workplace. This is a wonderfully entertaining episode in the ongoing Deadwood series. I can’t wait for the next one!
I love all of the Deadwood mystery books! They are very entertaining!
This book was very entertaining as are all her other books in this series. I love all of the characters in this series.
I must say I am absolutely in love with Doc. Violet is one lucky lady to have him and the rest of her motley crew in her life. I finished the book as fast as I could and then was very sad when it was over. I keep expecting that I will go to my kindle to read more of their shenanigans but this chapter is over. I hope that there will be many more to come! Everyone should read all of her books they will make you laugh and your heart race in the best possible way.
Love the Ann Charles books! And Gone Haunting in Deadwood is a real hoot! Lots of fun, sexy, exciting characters.
I just thought I’d say that Doc Nyce was my father. Really!!

I have read this entire series and love them all. This is no exception and is a lot of fun. Great Read!
I love anything by this author!!

A great continuation of the Violet Parker saga. Love the way her character has grown and look forward to her continued journey. Can’t wait for the next book.
I LOVE Ann Charles. Deadwood is my favorite series but like the Jackrabbit series and the Dig series
Author Ann Charles is at it again as she types her fingers to the bone to hammer out another Spooktacular, sexy, and hilarious adventure in Deadwood, “Gone Haunting in Deadwood”- Deadwood 9!
Nine books into this series and I am hoping that there will be one hundred and nine more!
Violet is new to her trade but learning fast as she and her growing band of supporters tread into the world of ghost, ghouls and “others” in Violets new role as ” Executioner”.
Oh, and don’t forget the heat, as the flames are turned up with Violet and Doc Nyce’s growing relationship and the scorching tension between Natalie Beals and Detective Cooper!
With lots of witty banter and snappy dialogue, this book is just another example of Ms. Charles’ talent in storytelling!
Book Ten Please!
After reading the first book in the series, I went on-line and bought the other 8. I just finished the 9th book in the series and I can’t wait for more. I highly recommend the series and author.
I absolutely love this series! The characters that Ann Charles has created and woven into this hilarious mystery series are unique, memorable, quirky, and lovable. I am truly amazed at the story-lines this author comes up with as she pits them her characters against the evils of another world, and sometimes against each other. I love all of the characters in this series and love stopping back in Deadwood to visit with them. Life is never dull in Violet’s world, that’s for sure.
Gone Haunting in Deadwood is book #9 and one might think that a series that has gone on that long might get kind of stale and repetitive. But this series is anything but that. The relationships of the characters have grown and developed with each book—there is definitely nothing stagnate there. And Violet and her crew are constantly coming up against different creatures and learning new ways to conquer them. I have to hand it to Ann, she has one crazy vivid imagination!
I listened to the audio-book of Gone Haunting in Deadwood, as I have several other ones in the past. The narrator does an AMAZING job and I just love listening to this series on audio.
