On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

“Absorbing . . . In masterly fashion, Flynn depicts the unraveling of a marriage—and of a recession-hit Midwest—by interweaving the wife’s diary entries with the husband’s first-person account.”—New Yorker
“Ms. Flynn writes dark suspense novels that anatomize violence without splashing barrels of blood around the pages . . . Ms. Flynn has much more up her sleeve than a simple missing-person case. As Nick and Amy alternately tell their stories, marriage has never looked so menacing, narrators so unreliable.”—The Wall Street Journal
“The story unfolds in precise and riveting prose . . . even while you know you’re being manipulated, searching for the missing pieces is half the thrill of this wickedly absorbing tale.”—O: The Oprah Magazine

Great thriller, but I am one of the many who was not happy with the ending.

A #1 New York Times bestseller that inspired an Academy Award-nominated film: When Amy disappears on her fifth wedding anniversary, all signs point to foul play — and her husband, Nick, is soon accused of murder. “Terrifically good” (The Boston Globe), with over …
this book was annoying!!! the two main characters are despicable
This book took my mind for a loop. I had no idea what to expect going into it, but I couldn’t put it down. The juxtaposition of the characters makes you unsure who to be rooting for throughout the entire book.
***SPOILER ALERT***
This book is a true page turner. Some of it I assumed, but it was definitely not what I expected. The last chapter was disappointing, though. I wish there had been real justice for the true killer.
It has it all!!! Terrific!
Brilliant. Original. Jaw-dropping. This is a must-read and even on a second read-thru, I loved it just as much. I felt the writing was incredible and the ending, albeit shocking, was absolutely perfect. Well done!
Throughout the book you feel drawn to Amy until you come to terms with Nick’s side of the story. A True WTF moment happens here.

This is a page-turner that keeps you guessing. It’s very entertaining, original, and unpredictable. The characters are interesting. I highly recommend it.
Far from the best book I’ve ever read. Did not really enjoy it.
“Gone Girl” is a breath holding, suspenseful book written in the alternating points of view of the married main characters, who tell their side of the story in a marriage gone wrong. From the book’s onset, the reader learns from the husband that his wife has gone missing, and the story takes off from there in finely woven present tense narrative …
This is a page turner. You will be pulled in, you will never guess the ending. Great read!
THis is a well written book , so much so that the characters got under my skin and I hated some of them , While thius story really wasn’t my cup of tea, it is a page turner.
It blew me away. And not always in a good way. The story is fresh and inventive, and has a nasty plot twist. I couldn’t put it down, but I wasn’t sure I liked myself as much after reading it.
This story made me turn the page until the end. It was unexpected.
Dynamite in words. Each scene an explosive and mind-bending step on a journey that thrusts you forward in a full run to see what happens next. Unbelievable and believable at the same moment. I now wish it were able to be serialized because I am so intrigued by these characters. But wonder if my heart and psyche could take it,
Once you start this novel you will not want to put it down.
My daughter and my husband both insisted I read this. Have to admit, I was hooked from page 1!
This was ok, none of the characters had any redeeming characters .
